Skype is REALLY good. The new version has a really clear codec. Sounds good if both have a stable connection, or atleast the hosting person if your doing multiple chat.

Well, this is pretty cool. I was using Skype. BTW, Im an Ubuntu user. Skype worked very well, had even bought an online number. Didnt have any problems until I needed cust. svc., and there is none. -.- Took them 5 days to respond. I since canceled my svc. If you're having shitty sound quality, try a Plantronics headset 2.0 USB. They're awsum. Works with Nix right out of the box. Cool video about Ventrilo! ^^

Teamspeak much better. Very basic means less system resources and more fps in your game. Also multi platform (linux/mac/windows) and now loaded on killer network cards completely off loading the client.

I like vent as well but with teamspeak, people often mistake the low quality for its default. You can change the codec to a much higher quality while sacrificing some of the servers bandwith. Most smaller groups use a free server hosted locally thus they have to use crappy codecs. If you pay for a server though, you dont have to worry about it and can use teamspeak on really great quality - just as good as vent!

This is better than Vent? I use Vent everyday for gaming (LOTRO) and it has never failed us but this just seems like it would fail at critical moments. Dunno, just a guess.

For adhoc spur of the moment group chats this does seem like a good free choice.
