music gay, battle gay, animation gay, characters gay, story gay, design gay, overall a very queery game. anyone saying it's not gay i'll simply point at Zevran and other things.
I felt sorry for the hounds. I know they're bred for warfare but damn I still feel sorry for them. Probably due to the fact that I have a dog myself. I could never imagine sending the poor thing to go against a gorilla in real life for example.
Badly done indeed, I would have send them a few seconds before the clash. That means the hounds would stop the enemy charge and the infantry would be able to follow right on.
well, a second dragon age game is very possible, because in dragon age origins, you only explore ferelden. in a developer video I watched, called ''dragon age creating a living world'', the developers said that there were many other areas of the dragon age universe (such as antiva), so for a second game, it could be set in one of those other areas.
Actually, in this game there is more battle organization than others (like final fantasy), but there are things tht they couldve added, like logical strategy, spearmen or more defensive in the front, offensive oriented infantry behind tht, and archers in the very back...
I wish developers would actually spend some time trying to make a character with their customization features. It often feels like they just made up some parts and hoped they'd mesh. Surprisingly I found it easier to make a character of personal satisfaction in Dragon Age as opposed to Mass Effect. Half the people in that game looked like they were suffering from some sort of genetic disease.
Cool video. But I've always wondered why in these fantasy games everyone fights like a mob, with as little order as possible. I want to see some discipline!
Well to be honest if one acutally went out and watched an ancient battle I think it would, outwardly at least, resemble a riot more then anything else we'd be used too.
It is true though you don't see much use of formations or attempts at control in many fantasy battles (just look at say Lord of the Rings movies as well). I think it's mostly a lack of knowledge, they just want it to look cool and don't acutally find out how such battles would work.
@Tk3997 Saying that, Lord of the rings there were attempts to show formations. The elves especially in the first movie at the big battle vs Sauron had discipline, and indeed looked very similar in style to the old Roman legion or even phalanx. The Gondorians also attempted the same, though more in defence rather than anything. But yeah, it all ended up really as a big brawl (though it would do anyway) and its true to say that fantasy games dont try and create formations.
@TheCobra1 Ive thought about that, but if you think that in fantasy games or movies you have races besides the humans, you understand how that is made so. Imagine a phalanx or a shield wall, where everyone stand together, against an ogre, trolls or giant. If this beast was to throw a projectile against this group it would kill many more than if they stayed separate.
@Forfeitdemeanor Point taken. You're making me think of Kingdom Under Fire: Crusaders. when gathered together against mortar fire, it decimates your unit.
Yeah I don't think I changed a single thing about him... I just clicked right through the creation screen. I've never really gotten the appeal of the "zomg I can alters his eyebrows and give him a cool mustache!" type customization honestly.
I'll spend hours tweaking skills and trying weapons out, but I just don't care the slightest what exactly my mass murdering heroes facial hair looks like. :p
Of course, i want my character to look REMOTELY like me (caucasian, dark brown curly/wavy hair, tall), and then i dont care whatsoever about the tiny little facial features unless i am making a character to look absolutely retarded
Yeah Loghain struggles to take the throne, which is alot easier when the king is dead, but he have to watch his ass out since "You" the greywarden is looking for him
It's part of the tactic, After the archers' and hounds' charge the enemy would have been dazed and confused, leaving them vulnerable for a united charge.
Besides, would you rather be standing there without dug positions and be hit hard by the enemy. Or charge them and hit them hard as well. I choose the latter.
help pls. sorry getpwnz3r. can't I unspam comments? I wanted to reply.
anyway: can't they just switch commanders? Loghan should have been standing there to lure the orks/darkspawn (anyone noticed they are VERY similar to Tolkien master's orks?).
Actually its, "The best defense is a good offense" a quote supposedly first said by General George S. Patton. And it applied to armored warfare, not sitting at a fucking gate, with swords.
*SPOILER* That said, battles were fought differently in those times (Medieval battles that is). Sitting at a gate with swords would have been very effective in that kind of battle; they'd simply funnel them into that narrow area, which is what they did essentially, while Loghain's forces waited over the ridge at their flank, which is when they'd charge and enclose the Darkspawn into a circle of soldiers, which would have pwned the Darkspawn right there and then... *SPOILER*
Magnificent! The epic music before the battle gave it much effect. This battle gave me the chills the first time I watched it!

2 things which kill this:
1. When the king shouts 'for ferelden', way too pussyish, not nearly glorious and bloodthirsty enough.
2. John Travolta as the archer signaler.

This is like something out of a Lord of the Rings film. Or any good film.
Truly remarkable. They did an incredible job with this. Great effects and atmosphere, loved every moment of it.
