@rathorvs01 in continuation of my reply i suggest you to read about 3rd Battle of Panipat at this time only Maratha had the capability to stop Ahmed Shah Abdali , the battle was so decicive that it had weakened both Maratha and Afgan Forces which lead to a power vacume in punjab region and a rebel erupted in Punjab and resulted in Sikh Empire so in a way Maratha have indirectly helped in creation of Sikh Empire and this fact is well elaborated in Khuswant Sing's book on Sikh History .

@rathorvs01 in continuation of my reply i suggest you to read about 3rd Battle of Panipat at this time only Maratha had the capability to stop Ahmed Shah Abdali , the battle was so decicive that it had weakened both Maratha and Afgan Forces which lead to a power vacume in punjab region and a rebel erupted in Punjab and resulted in Sikh Empire so in a way Maratha have indirectly helped in creation of Sikh Empire and this fact is well elaborated in Khuswant Sing's book on Sikh History .
