  • It was the first rely attempt to a teenage live when I was young...in Sweden. From radio Luxenburg its pour out. You can never understand..if you are born after 1945.Never ever..

  • WOAH, the guitar playing is pretty revolutionary for the 1950's. I can see why John Lennon gave it credit.

  • hrm and i know what u wanna get of me

  • I'm watching this clip now for the first time and have a serious case of goosebumps. This is seriously good. Wow.

  • I like the guitar dancers

  • Also hear by Clff and the Shads Choppin and changin, Never Mind, Mean Streak, Livin lovin Doll, She's Gone, High Class Baby, Gee Whiz its you, Please Dont Tease all songs that should have hit the American charts - In Canada Cliff and the Shads had many number one songs from 1960 to 1965 fact. Plus Elvis was a big Fan of cliff and the Shads while in the American army from 1958 to 1960 - FACT - rock on Harry, Hank, Bruce, Jet and Tony - the original and true British rockers

  • I have this LP Cliff and the Drifters this was a LIVE recording with Girls screaming as the do lol I met up with Cliff in 1998 & asked him if he could sign my / His LP & he did he even said its worth more now I have signed 2 times, he said it will be worth a small fortune when I'm dead & smiled at me..

  • Elvis impersonator to the guy being produced by Stock Aiken and Waterman and singing Millennium prayer.. He may have a long career in the industry but he really sold out more than once !!!!

  • John Lenon contamino su musica con esa ruca japonesa por eso lo mataron

  • I was not even a thought when this song came our - BUT now I Love this kind of MUSIC and I think CLIFF RICHARD IS STILL HOT LOOKING TO THIS DAY!!

    MEOW!!

  • mmh i can make you go crazy

  • No. This band and singer sang with no heart, no soul, and no passion. They were copying "the original" artists to make money. Same on them. No.

  • @TheAlinaLopez If you don't like it listen to your los lobos cd you obviously don't know who this guy is.

  • As someone who remembers when this was released it was, in its day, as mind-blowingly deviant and defiant as "Anarchy in the UK". Now it seems a pleasant mid-tempo rocker. But at the time it was the sound of Teddy Boys, Blackboard jungle, and a constant threat to adult authority.

Pretty incredible when you think what Sir Cliff has morphed into. He soon lost his rebel niche and croseed into mainstream with the Norrie Paramore strings.

  • Search Youtube with below title... uwesome cover by Robrt Plant!

Robert Plant - The Secret Gig 1985 Ultra Rare Concert001

  • Real music.

  • No it's not brilliant but it's a got a good riff going on.

I'm not really a Cliff fan but I have a certain grudging respect for what he's achieved in his career.

  • English Elvis)

  • The Real Cliff. The Real Shadows.

  • gueule de bebe gueule d amour laetitia

  • The Shadows kick ass

  • these are the drifters im sure of it

  • Well, what the hell happened? Elvis tuned out to be gay and Cliff is cool . . . .

  • I love the Hank's style, nice sound and very serious!

  • cool guitar on this!

  • Elvis became before cliff Richard.

  • In Canada Cliff and The Shads had many number one songs on the Canadian charts from 1960 to 1965. Plus Elvis was a big Fan of Cliff and the Shads while in the American Army during his National Service In Germany through 1958 to 1960 - FACT. Rock On Harry, Hank, Bruce, Jet and Tony the original BRITISH Rockers who Influenced The Beatles, Kinks, Queen, Eric Clapton, Marc Bolan, Elton John and many other British and American Artists - Again FACT

  • Also hear by cliff and the Shads from this period 1958 - 1960 Choppin and changin, Never Mind, Mean Streak, Living loving Doll, She's Gone, High Class Baby, Gee Whiz its you, Please Don't Tease, D in love, Travelling Light, Dynamite All songs that should have been in the American Charts.

  • bloody brilliant nuff said - robbed in America by crap management if only he had Brian Epstein and George Martin to promote him - with the Shadows stole every night on the tour of stars 1960 - American and Canadian fans loved cliff and the shads what more can I say.

  • I saw Cliff, Hank, Bruce and Brian in Holland on tour in 2009.

Also i spoke with Jet Harrison in 2007.

  • @newyorktown Do you mean Mr. Jet Harris?

  • @duqmiguel Yes i mean Jet Harris, strange that i said Harrison.

  • This song is great! Shame I don't feel the same way about the majority of his back catalogue.

  • This is really CLIFF RICHARD AND THE DRIFTERS 1958 AND MOVE IT. Shadows didn't exist.

  • @jdex29 Correct in that the 1958 original was by Cliff and the Drifters but this version is from a 1961 Cliff Richard Show TV series with the renamed/reformed Drifters- now known as The Shadows providing the backing. Although the Drifters became the Shadows in 1959 none of the group here featured on the 1958 recording of 'Move It'. That was provided by Ernie Shear (lead), Frank Clarke (double bass)- both session men & Ian Samwell (rhythm) and Terry Smart (drums)- these being original Drifters.

  • @EXIDEBANDENGLAND but yeh he is totally gay now and has been for 40 years

  • H was truly the British Elvis

  • Cliff Richard was an English Rocker that was good..and the lassies loved his shakin

  • its a shame the begining been cut off , this is gud, but the start is even better

  • awesum, but its pity the begining cut off

  • E eu com 14 anos quando isto apareceu. Que maravilha para a altura.

  • E eu com 14 anos quando isto apareceu. Que maravilha para a altura.

  • How in the hell do you go from this to that 70s and 80s stuff he slogged out?!?!?

  • Killer guitar lick at 0.33!

  • Will someone flag this blasphemous jungle music and those develish hips?

  • This was the metal of 1958. 13-year-old Lemmy looked at this and said, "Man, those guys are HEAVVVYYYY!"

  • @PoffyTheCucumber GET BACK IN LINE!

  • 0:58 Uh-oh - we can see his hips! Oh my Jesus! What devilry!

  • John Lennon said that English rock music was useless until "Move It". Hey, if it's good enough for John Lennon, its good enough for me/ :)

  • @JanetEsq DOH ! That was comment i was gonna make lol

  • @JanetEsq

    Good comment.

I think that he was right then .... and still even now.

    florianska6

  • @JanetEsq: John Lennon knew fuck all about anything. There were plenty of English rockers who knew more about music than that brainless gobshite and had they appealed to pre-pubescent little girls as he did they might have made more of themselves than Lennon.

  • @JanetEsq While your comment is nice, it's inaccurate. John Lennon and the other Beatles were recorded saying that they hated Cliff Richard and the Shadows because of their "Squeaky Clean-ness".

  • @JanetEsq

fuck, I was gonna say that

  • Wow.

I happened upon Cliff's wikipedia page,

& as someone who never really paid attention to him or his music,

I never really realized that he started out his career as a rock'n'roll badd-ass.

    This song is frikkin' awesome!

  • @themightycelestial: Harry Webb was never a 'rock'n'roll badd-ass', whatever that may have been.

  • @themightycelestial he gave up after hearing Elvis "I couldn't compete with that so I did something else"

  • I love Cliff Richard is my song and it takes me nostalgic age 15-16

  • Move It - Cliff Richard [England] - 1958 - "AMG Pick. It is impossible, of course, to speak too highly of 'Move It,' a song that remains, in terms of both impact and intent, British rock's Year Zero. It is credited with being one of the first authentic rock and roll songs produced outside the United States." - Super Best [Import] (Toshiba EMI Japan)-2003. NOTE: The CD that this song came off is super scarce. It doesn't even show up at allmusic or amazon's site, BUT you can find it elsewhere.

  • gordonAfranks....Attention to you my son,a certain Buddy Holly glasses Fender,,mmm wonder where Hank got the idea..please get things in order..

  • Jet was fantastic...a "Diamond" He was "Mr Bass Man" From home made double Bass, Electric Framus Star Bass and then,of course, a "Fender Precision".In the late 50s and early 60s, all us budding bass players looked up to you.RIP Jet.................

  • RoCK AND roll,,,wot a tunE,,,,,Wot a gOD XXXXX

  • Outstanding!!!!! That's rock n' roll!!!! Thanks for posting.

  • It was the appearance and playing of guitar player Hank Marvin (with the glasses) that made every kid in Britain want to go out and buy a guitar. This was one factor in the development of so many great guitar players in the UK and the development of British R&R. .

  • It was Cliff Richards and The Drifters in those days - before they changed their name to The Shadows. Saw them on stage at The Rialto in York, the late John Barry Seven opened for them - his father owned the cinema.

This ties with Tommy Steel and his Caveman Rock as the first homemade UK R&R record. What a time it was to be a teenager.

  • John Lennon once claimed that "before Cliff and the Shadows, there had been nothing worth listening to in British music." As the first backing band to emerge as stars in their own right, they were early trailblazers for the beat-group boom that eclipsed them. – The Times 30 November 2005.

  • With singer Cliff Richard, the Shadows dominated the British popular music scene in the late 1950s and early 1960s (i.e. the five-year "Before-Beatles" period: 1958–1962), before The Beatles' first full year in the charts in 1963.

  • Gotta love that choreography!

  • first great British rock & roll track

  • "like" this ALOT

  • Cannot beat Rock 'n' Roll, it's better than music these days!!

Dommage ...

  • Had to share this one too. Man-o-man I been livin' under a rock or sumthin'

  • The one British rock and roll song that can stand with Presley, Berry, Holly and Little Richard...Well done boys!

  • Comment removed

  • @Emerystreet The beatles are the best band ever...no band from either side of the pond could match them.

  • when this was recorded the shadows actually went by the name of the drifters but had to change it shortly afterwards due to confusion between them and the american band the drifters.

  • brilliant !!

all went down hill after this

  • REAL RAW EARLY ENGLISH ROCK

  • Cliffs 1st uk hit No 2 Sep 58 and uk s first RocknRoll record-I dont hold it against him that he went soft-this was an era when a pop career was unlikely to last more than a couple of years and he took advice that the only way to stay in the game was to broaden his appeal by being more mainstream MOR and-sadly thats what he did- but hes still around!

  • Rockin' tune, and great hard backing from the Shadows. Shame Cliff dances like King Louie from the Jungle Book.

  • The Best!!!

  • gbwez, how can that be?; when Cliff Richard was born before that soccer player ,you dumb ass.

  • Cliff is the spitting image of Cristiano Ronaldo

  • @gbwez just what i was thinking lol

  • cant believe this is the same guy who sang ocean deap haha wtf

  • yes cliff and the shadows are great...Cem-TURKEY

  • I have all my life been an Elvis Presley fan. Believe that Elvis actually had only two competitors. And that was Buddy Holly and Cliff Richard. 'm also a fan of them, but actually the whole rock 'n roll. The best music ever made, the singers of today have much to learn.

  • THIS IS THE CLIFF AND THE SHADS I KNEW AND LIKED BEFORE HE WAS REMOULDED INTO A LIGHT ENTERTAINER FOR THE MUMS....HE WAS ENGLANDS FIRST ROCKNROLLER --OUR VERSION OF ELVIS.......

  • top tune courtesy of the shads. as for cliff dick, whens he ever gonna come out of the closet and admit he's a fag

  • @docfun68 voi sua köyhä hetero, kateellisuus on raskasta....

  • This and High Class Baby are his best early stuff by miles

  • Right ok, whoever disliked this, is fucking retarded!

  • @dapplerose that pukeyable is just a dickhead ignore him i think he must be jealous of him or just doesnt have good taste in music

  • @pukeyable ; Don't watch then! Simple :)

  • we saw them at the wintergardens in blackpool at this time they were electrfing

  • Bruce oli jo silloin paras!

  • Hank was way ahead of his time. Pity almost everything from Cliff after this was downhill!

  • @leitros He was Lucky to get this as Someone relised it was BETTER than a "B" To "Schoolboy Crush"

I Often wonder what would have happened if SchoolBoy Crush had been Issued a "A" Side

Personally I think Cliff made 3 Good Ones Move It : High Class Baby ; Dynamite & For a Ballad "Travelling Light"

After that Forget the Rest.. But Cannot Knock Success & He Has Had It

The First & Forever UK TeddyBoy

  • That dance routine in the instrumental part really makes want to get down with the groove!

  • mi esposo ya fallesido fue un gran admirador de este gran artista y hoy en su memoria lo escucho y recuerdo.

  • Still alive, still well, still single?

  • How come I've never heard of this guy before? He's sold 260 million records!

  • @Vellenga71 The reason that you possibly havn't heard of Cliff Richard in recent years is that certain Low Life "Disc Jockeys" on the radio thought that it was smart to block all his music for many years.

"SIR" Cliff Richard has contributed more to the World of Rock Music than almost anybody else on the Planet, along with of course Elvis and Michael Jackson.

Can anybody remember the names of the affore mentioned smart ass Disc Jockeys?

    I seriously don't think so.

  • Listen people, if you live forever, and you love rock and roll music, it don't get better than this.

  • @pydo7 Couldn't have put it better myself.

  • @MrMikerocker That's because we are kindred spirits, along with being the same age.

  • Good stuff! Just listen to Hank Marvin's sound on that Strat. Ever wonder where the "surf music" sound came from? Hank Marvin's guitar!

  • @funboater1 This music turns me on

  • so good and brilliant

  • so g and b

  • Happy 70th Birthday, Cliff Richard!

  • What eyes! Like this a lot. Good solid beat, nice rockin tempo, I can dance to it, give it a 10!

  • This is where it began and the words are still there, did I love it? Yes. I was only a skinny teenager but it's still there.

  • Hank Marvin shining on lead guitar fills throughout.

  • hate it

  • This a gem, a true rocker by a british artist. And he dared to say "baby" and "rock'n'roll", making the song as american as possible, and at a time when "moving it" was considered obscene by the high horse of the british society!!!! Bravo Cliff!!!!!

  • As Lennon Said 'The first and only British Rock n Roll song'

Out of all the songs Cliff did he never ever bettered this.

  • You are witnessing the very ADVENT of Rock and Roll in the UK.

There is nothing to surpass this.

    History in the Making.

    Enjoy.

    Rock on Forever.

  • I encourage all to see the spanish version with Hector Rubio, the song is titled La Mantequilla (The butter).

  • Rock on Harry Webb!!!!!

  • I encourage all to see the spanish version with Hector Rubio, the song is titled La Mantequilla (The butter).

  • @nemonatan Who is that guy?

I used to live in Mexico City back in the early sixties, the cover was made (as a matter of fact very good) by The Locos del Ritmo with Tono de la Villa.

Nunca segundas partes fueron buenas pero la excepcion confirma la regla.

Como lo fue la version de Los Locos del Ritmo.

    yeah La Mantequilla.

  • Meehan & Harris there... wow... before my time, even!

  • Superbe, excellent, Bravo ! ! !

  • His first No 1 and he has done nothing better since - fabulous- Presley copy or not cos that was said at the time -I know I was there - Yes I am old and incidentally I do not remember Woodstock ! ( For the youngsters-if you remember Woodstock you weren't there - work it out - your parents were young ONCE ! )

  • The canal killer!

  • Shadows in fine form. Cliff trying to look mean and hard...leave that to Elvis and Billy Fury. But, CR giving good vocals.

  • By Christ, The Shadows could really rock. Brilliant.

  • he went 80's... :O(

  • cliff you should make more music like this, your not passed it yet!

I was a child in the early 70's but this kind of music is much better than the rubbish we get today!

  • go on cliff....ya hard ass!!!

  • Great. Cliff was moving much more on The Reunion Tour, and that was 50 years later. Well done.

  • Brilliant song. He can't really move though, can he? Bring on Elvis!

  • It's just great

  • pure quality that started everything in Britain

  • wow 52 years ago!!!! amasing

  • @goblinking169 this CLIFF is a JOKE and messed up the SHADOWS

  • This song was by Cliff Richard and the Drifters. After it's release the band had to change their name.

  • all i have to say is that this song is real gone ....cliff really did it ...he not only showed uk how to rock but everyone else in the world who actually knows talent ...you just have to love this real gone talent .unlike these new untalented artist like lil wayne ,Drake, and all of todays new artist and all that other trash that has got to be thrown out everyones window staright to the trash
