Good video. Brings back memories of 24(!!) years ago and how much time I spent/(wasted?) on this game. Very hard one to solve without any help as there are a few obscure steps. Obviously this walkthrough gets to the point as there are many other things required to get hints and tips on the way. I still have my Apple IIc and this game on original disk and packaging.
I remember this game. I remember another one for the Apple or the Commodore with the game beginning with you waking up in the early morning and you're given three choices - (1)Go back to sleep (2)Call [name of person you typed at the start] to check(3)go to the Belward house
I played this years ago but I forgot the name of the game. If anyone knows, lemme know.
So in conclusion heres a list of items and what they do if you want to know
Pistol-- Kill WereWolf, Bullet-- Load in Pistol, Cross- Show Vampire, Garlic--Wear to keep Dracula away (which is pointless unless you never wanna beat the game) you can also eat it too, which does nothing, Bread-- eat it that's about all it's good for, Acid-- Pour on Stump, Broom-- Ride/Fly it, Fly Paper-- Use to hold flies, Flies-- Feed Frog, Mice-- Drop by the Cat, Lock Pick-- use to open door in cave,
Crystal-- Look into it, Book-- Read first, then take it to exit cave, Ring/Cloak-- Wear it/wave it, to free Alien, Vines/Black Box/Potion-- Use to save Sabrina...
That's about it, Go through the game and do these things and i'll let the stories tell you how to find the Alien, and Free Sabrina, although if you watch this video you'll already know that :-p
I just played through it again, it seems like you can use everything in the game for something, the only two things that seem useless is the Vines, which I was bored so I carried them around to see if I could do anything with them... and the Bread, which you can't feed to anyone Including Sabrina, but you can eat it, but it does nothing cept take up inventory space for the most part....
You know what, I just thought about how stupid.....umm wait hmm, ok you need the Lockpick to get to the crystal ball, which mentions the Wizard, and the waveing the ring and all that stuff, but you need to shake the cloak to get the lockpick to open the door to even know about the wizard, so if you find the cloak before you ride the broom the clue about a wizard living in the cabin is pretty much useless, unless you get the clue leave the cloak for some reason, then say shit i needed that to lol
Ok guys i think i've done all you can, and I answered my last questions.. GARLIC- take it, wear it.. go into the castle and Dracula won;t appear untill you either drop/or eat it.... you can walk atround the castle all day with it and he won;t show up... I also figured out what the note in the tree means about a wizard living in a cabin, it's a hint that the Wizards Cloak is in there.. Only other thing is the Stale Bread, I know you can eat it but nothing happens, maybe you can feed the goblin??
BROOM- Ride Broom, you fly around for a bit and end up in that tree behind the frog, there's a sign, you read it and it says something about a Wizard that has a cabin in the woods..... Garlic- I ate it, nothing happened.... stale bread- ate that too, taste's aweful..... If you guys figure out something else once you get in that tree let me know, I exited out and I was by the lake, and when I said go tree it said it was too slippery to climb, and a witch stole my broom
@Khaos696 you get the flypaper, pour acid on the stump. " Knock stump" (just "knock" doesn't work) there are flies in the chamber below and get flies with the paper) either look or read book. (I think it tells you about the potion to wake the princess)
To get out "get book."
When you go to the bullfrog, feed bullfrog and it says to say "ijnid" to the goblin for him.
@FFGFOREVER I finally played the entire game and got everything, and did all the things you have to do, 1 question though I noticed that you can eat the stale bread but it just says it tastes nansty... And I noticed you can take the broom from the hut, but has anyone found out yet what your supposed to use the Broom for??
I think the command is "ride broom" and it takes you to the tree (where you see the bullfrog) There's a sign on it. I can't remember what it says. I think it has to do with a magician named Zin.
To get off the tree just type "d" but you can't get up it and can't use the broom a second time.
i am having a very good morning watching these vids you have put up on old apple 2e games, i was probably around 8 when i played this and brings back very good memories of me and my brother trying to figure out how to play my grandpas games, thanks for posting these
Great to see this on YouTube. But where's the flypaper? I remember more details from playing it way back than are in this vid. I had the Apple II version too, so i'm quite confused.
This is first horror genre game I saw when it was published in Atari . It scared the freak out of me seeing the wolf, especially the red glowing eyes (however, this apple one does not look that scary as in Atari due to graphic rendering differences). Well, many thanks for posting and showed me how you have finished the game. Also, you relieved my nostalgic moments when I was a kid. Good~!
Wow, thanks SO much for posting this...I've been looking for a video of this game for a long time now. I used to play this at my uncle's house back in the mid 80's or so.
This game was awesome!

I played this on the Apple 2e computers in high school. I got to solve it with some help from the teacher.
The thing I don't know is how do you know to drop box when its never mentioned you had one. How did you know to pull antler/horn in the cabin.

I just beat this online. Without a walkthrough how would you know that you had to tell the goblin ijnid, or wave the ring at the statue??
