@Bqrufz1 P40DCs do not have third rail shoes, The Dual mode P32AC-DM does. Also Penn Station does have third rail. All Long Island Railroad trains, and some Amtrak trains use the Third Rail System.
acse are only on friday saturday and sunday. also if the p40s are amtraks then they most likely also have 3rd rail pick up too bad no 3rd rail in penn station
sorry 1 more diesel. also the consist switches from electric to diesl/vice versa at frankford junction the aces trains/ bi levels do not go to philadelphia ' 30 th street staion. the only ones that do are the regular service njt diesel powered train with comet cars.
the atlantic city line does not have catenary... in order for the train to accelerate at the same pace as the other njt trains they would need atleast 1 more loco also the diesels are geared for 102 not 125 like the alp 44
@SgtDonuts going to AC the P40 pulls the train from NYC or AC to frankford junction philly,PA and from frankford junction to NYC or AC the NJT ALP-44 pulls the train so pretty much if you are on the NEC going southbound you will see a diesel P40 going northbound you will see a NJT ALP-44
uh the R7 express only passes 4 to5 stops during rush hour but it i think NJT would better express from trenton to philly non-stop but PA dot wont let NJT runs from trenton to 30th street it might take away R7 train service which i know it wont.
it wont take away from septa service, since it wont b servicing any septa stations, it would just b givin a straight shot to philly, but the service might run b funded by amtrak, givin them the track space. Plus like u said septa doesnt run express straight through so i wont find it taking away any septa service, well maybe a lil of septa's passengers that just wants to go straight to philly!!!!
that sounds awesome, but im thinkin it would prolly have 2 b and express in philly because, that would b cuttin into Septa's territory if did local stops.
so they hace a deisel locomotive on the front and and electric locomotive looked like a aem7 why just the electric locomotive and a cab car on the other end
The ACES train is indeed going to AC, so the electric AEM-7, depicted, is traling the six-unit consist, and the PL42AC leads it. Therefore, there is no choice, but to have two locomotives, one diesel-electric and the other the outright electric.
they can but remember the NEC is really a high speed route and its equipped 4 electric use only, so i feel using its just a waste but yea, Now as for Grand Central those diesels are dual mode meaning they run on electric and diesel
A little more than ten miles to the south, the train will leave the electrified NEC and head east on the non-electrified Atlantic City Line. The push-pull arrangement allows them to run into the tunnels to NYC where diesels are not allowed and then to quickly change over for the run to Atlantic City.
These trains will run on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday several times per day, starting Febuary 6th, a friday, I'll be fiming the First Ever Southbound Train Past Egg Harbor City! I'm Physed!

Wow. A diesel and an electric on the same train. Pretty cool. I'd like to go see that someday.

Actually 4800 is ex-Amtrak P40DC #800. NJT never bought P42s.
GintaPPE1000 11 months ago
Great video! Also I'd recommend to tweak the title from P42 to P40BH. NJT has no P42's.
SUBWAY125 11 months ago
I at first thought the P40DC pulls the train to NYC. But I figured out that it instead takes the ACES to Atlantic City.
SgtDonuts 1 year ago
@SgtDonuts going to AC the P40 pulls the train from NYC or AC to frankford junction philly,PA and from frankford junction to NYC or AC the NJT ALP-44 pulls the train so pretty much if you are on the NEC going southbound you will see a diesel P40 going northbound you will see a NJT ALP-44

What are they going to use when they get the ALP-45DPs?
trainboy38 2 years ago
I agree seeing the train going around the curve is awesome. Its also cool seeing the ALP push the cars and the GE. That's power for you.

why does this train has an electric engine and a diseal? shouldnt it only need a dieasal engine??
blessedbrotha 2 years ago
They need the electric to run into NYC, no diesels allowed in the tunnel.

but im saying people are tired of taking the R7 train from trenton to philly its 2 slow and long.
56yuoi 2 years ago
well thats what the amtrak regional's for or they should just take the the R7 express im sure they'll get to trenton fast from philly
