Hello! Learning to play the low D whistle& having an awful hard time getting smooth low D. Also, I would really love to see your hands while you do this - to watch the way you do trills & ornaments. I thoroughly enjoy having this tutorial!Thank you from an old mom!
Thank you for the positive comments everyone! I would just like to remind the public though that this is my very first video. When I made it, I had only been playing a week so there are bound to be mistakes- I realize this :) I am shocked that this video gets so many views because it is not good at all compared to where I'm at! I think it's time to make a new Lord of the Rings video to show my improvement after a year of playing. Cheers, Chantelle
Hey görl, nice whistling=) Have a bunch of whistle n flutes but never understand the techniques. How big is the diffrence between whistle technique and irish flute technique? And how do u time the breathing while playing? Do u have to move around ur tunge alot while playing?
I see you have both the irish flute and the low whistle. I want to move on to another instrument, and I want to choose one of those as my next one. I am leaning towards Irish flute, but I just wanted to have a second opinion.
I've been playing tin whistle for many years also the trumpet longer. BUT I cannot play a low D! My fingers are to short! Ah! And 'I love the sound. of the low D! I have most of the other keys just can't stretch the old fingers for the low D
. You are doing well, Just learn to control your breathing better and learn some circular breathing it will help to sustain notes and help you control the strength of the note. You are starting out well! Keep it up!
You MUST buy a Native American Flute.. it will change your life.. just play it and let your spirit soar.. So beautiful, mystical, soothing.. you'll love it.. very similar to this flute tho.
@pianino08 It's Concerning Hobbits, and In Dreams, and a hand full of other song titles...Howard Shore uses the Shire theme obviously though throughout the whole trilogy so naturally, there are going to be multiple titles. The point is that it's the Shire theme, which is featured in more than one song
@williamswhistlepipes Thanks so much :) Yes, in terms of reading music- I am completely incompetent. I'm sure if I really wanted to, I'd get the hang of it...but the problem is, I have no desire to. Hearing a song and then playing it and adding my own improv has always come much easier for me anyway. Yes, for many songs it can take a while to learn by ear, especially if it's complex. But in my case, it'd take a lot longer to read the music considering how bad I am at it, LOL :)
Firstly I Wanted To Say That You're.. Very Cute (:
Secondly, You're Great! Learn The Whole Song And Upload It Please, I'm Really Excited About It (:

Also, I learn by ear- not by sight reading, so that's why some of the ornamentation is my own renditions :)
