I am so touched by this. Your wife was a beautiful person. Her smile and joy through her pain is a wonderful testimony. I know that Heaven is prettier with her there. My condolences to you and your beautiful family.
I played this song at my late husbands funeral in 2001. He was diagnosed with cancer on his 36th birthday, 2-21-2001 and I buried him the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter.
I have looked for this song before on youtube and was surprised to find it today..the 10th anniversary of his passing.
You did an excellent job on the tribute. Your wife was a beautiful woman with a radiant smile. My her and my Billy be rejoicing in Heaven...Home Free!
Thank You for posting this and pointing us to Jesus. I was so grateful when I watched this to know that she is with the Master. I am sorry for your loss, and thanks again. Praise the Lord.
@mizkitty10 I love your strength! No man can endure the pain Jesus went through on the cross and not many woman can go through what you went through and still hold true to Jesus. Way to go! Thank you for sharing your testimony.
i first heardthis song in high school and it's carried me through some difficult challanges which is surviving two rapes and abusive relationships. every time i hear this song it reminds me of the hope that i have in jesus christ. my pain i endured is nothing compared to what jesus went through on the cross for me. I totally love wayne watsons music. i'm greatful for you tube. i can listen to music from the days of the past and enjoy the memories of the songs. be blessed
Thank you so much for posting this song. Last week, I mentioned that my mom has been bedridden for 6 weeks. This morning she slipped into the Lord's presence this morning as she struggled to breathe over the last 48 hours in the hospital from the cancer in her lungs and her spinal cord. We are sad to see her go as she leaves her husband and 3 of us children, but now she is resting and Home Free. It is comforting to know that she is in the Lord's arns. Thank you for the blessing in posting this.
Thank you so much for posting this. This song has really spoke to me this morning as I was driving home from work this morning, and this song started playing on the CD I have from Wayne Watson. My mother is very sick, and has been bed ridden for the last 6 weeks. In ths midst of all that, our family is in the midst of a family feud, and the oldest has told me what is the use in appoligizing or asking for forgivness from my mom if she cant talk. We are praying that my mother will live into 2011!
@joann005 Thank you.....my husband is in stage 4 kidney disease.....this would be a wonderful song for his memorial/celebration of life. I'm planning ahead instead of trying to get it together during grieving. He really likes the song too. ♥
Beautiful tribute!! Thank you for sharing. I'm starting to prepare for my husbands memorial.....I think this song would be perfect as well. God Bless you and your family!! ♥
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. God Bless you. He has sustained us through dark and uncertain times... and we have been blessed. Our hearts have heart and our heads have questioned. But He has continued to sustain us. That's my prayer for you and your family. He hears you in your time of need and He will carry you. God Bless.
There was a time it was taken off of YouTube because of suspected copyright infringement. But after an explanation from me it was quickly restored. I think it does the song justice.
The balloons were released on Sondra's birthday... just over 2 weeks after she passed away. It was an idea that someone gave us and it turned out to be a good way to cope. Each of us chose our own balloon. And I thought everyone picked something appropriate. Everyone wrote messages on the balloons... another fitting gesture. We released balloons again the next year... and since then not so much. Each year we "remember" in different ways.
It is quite an incredible song. I've always loved Wayne Watson. His songs have been very meaningful to me. I never expected that one day I could relate so much to "Home Free". But after seeing someone battle like Sondra did, I began to better understand the meaning of "Free" and of "Home".
There was a time that this video was taken off of YouTube for suspected copyright infringement. But after an explanation, it was allowed to be brought back.
Sondra had Esophageal Cancer. It's not too common, but has a poor prognosis when detected.
The kids have done great. We have a lot of memories together, but we've also branched out and moved on with life over the last 3+ years (which is the healthy way to keep on living). It's a journey that faith has taken us. There's a website mentioned in the video's notes section that gives a link to a blog we still keep up with some.
What a beautiful wife and mother you sent ahead of you to heaven! The very last verse (I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course) is one of the last things I spoke to my husband before Jesus ushered Paul into His very presence (from cancer as well.
What a glad reunion there will be for those of us who are trusting in Jesus alone as our sin-bearer and Savior! I can't wait!
This is heartbreaking. I believe in Jesus and I know she is in his hands...but im still crying. Wishing the best to you and your children. I think you were a good husband.
Making this video and our other video was a way to cope. It also gave us an outlet at the time to do something constructive that we would have for a very long time. I wanted to capture memories for the kids while everything was still fresh.
I don't even know you, and I am at work with tears in my eyes. I also found a song called "Angel in Waiting" Maybe one day you may want to listen to it? I found it on "thegaragehound" channel.Music is good theropy
what a wonderful tribute !! god bless you and your family ... she is with the lord .You will see her again with the father of heaven !! I cry every time I hear this song !!!
Thankyou, I lost my spouse on march 9, 2010. Misssing him so bad, came home from work singing homefree and yours is the first one I saw with Wayne Watson singing it, Thanks for sharing your pain/victory. God Bless you
I hope you're doing well. Separation hurts. But there is healing. We've been very blessed. Friends walked with us and carried us. Now we're standing taller and living stronger. Time helps. God Bless you.

Friend, I was moved to tears when I viewed your video. I don't know you, your dearly departed wife or your children, yet I've never cried so much. I am happy for your wife who is now in Glory. I know you miss her but will one day be reunited. Tell your children that I love them.

Very touching and moving, so sorry for your loss. I lost my ex husband to cancer this past year. We will all be together someday and Wayne sang it well.
to the Humphrey Family. Thank you for posting this tribute to your beloved Sondra. My goes out to you all as I have been there also. Lost my beloved Cynthia on Christmas day from stage 4 pancreatic, liver and lung cancer. My the Lord always lift your heart and spirits with the promise of being together again on that glorious day to come. God bless you and your family. truck655 Bill huff and family. Buxton ,Maine.
Such a powerful song, well suited for a tribute. Its so hard sometimes to believe God cares when u lose someone near and dear to ur heart but the truth is that we all have to go one way or another, its the life we lived while here that matters. Keep the faith and God bless y'all.
O M G, I can't believe that am listening to this song, I've be looking for this song for the past 8 yrs, am so excited, it touches my heart and ministered to my soul, thanks to the person who upload it, it's fanstic to listen to it after so many yrs. can anyone post the words up also ? it has been one of my favorite song 4 ages. Am over the moon just now, but strange enough I don't know who did this original song.thanks to u tube.
This song -- "Home Free" -- was recorded by Christian artist Wayne Watson in about 1989/90... somewhere along there. It was originally on an album of the same name.
@19681987ash . Heya, thanks for the info. Is there any way you can find a song for me, I don't know who did it or the title of it but part of the chorus goes like this. { We are your treasured possession and the apple of your eye, you delighted your affection upon us.} , That's all I can remember, hope someone somewhere can help, pls. thanks. I would be more than grateful.
My ex father in law was diagnosed with esophageal cancer recently. I'm not sure what stage. My heart aches because his grandchildren, my boys lost their other grandfather, my dad, to cancer. I hate cancer and wish it didn't exist, but I do know that God still has a purpose for our lives even when the ugly stuff comes in. This song is beautiful! I've always found comfort in its words & music. What a beautiful tribute to such a beautiful YOUNG woman. God Bless these children & her husband.
It's been almost eight years since my grandpa died from cancer...and then this year two people I knew lost their lives in two seperate car accidents. To see Jeremiah 29:11 used with this song it's like...wow it's so good we have Christ. I'd be a wreck if I didn't know that all three of them loved the Lord and are gonna be with him in paradise. Actually one of my friends who died, his name was Jeremiah...God Bless your family and your children. Keep loving Jesus.
Lauren, Jonathan & Matthew, I found this beautiful tribute to your mom while looking at Wayne Watson songs. Your mom ran head-on into the greatest fear I, & probably MOST moms, have ever had: dying & leaving my kids. Her deep love shines thru in these photos & I went to the CB link to read her story. Now, her story goes on thru the 3 of you. As a Christian mom of 3 myself (13 & two 8's), my heart's desire would be that you trust God & never let go of Jesus. You'll see her again! Keep the faith!
Thank you so much for your kind words. If you read some of my other remarks to comments people have made, then you will also understand more of the background of this video.
As far as fear -- Only once did I ever hear Sondra lash out in anger.... But that was a personal moment between the two of us. She was able to "shine" for the kids throughout -- even as she rapidly deteriorated (1st symptom to her passing was only 4 1/2 months). God's blessed us. The video affirms that.
aboslutly wonderful... I personally loved this video, having went throught the same thing as a child. I would have loved nothing more than a video like this to look back on.. Thank goodness your children have such a loving and caring support system. It does get easier but never goes away and years down the road your children will watch this im commemeration of their beloved mother, and thank you for it! Wonderful way to preserve memories!
Oh I wish you had something of your own too. Right now my kids are at stages that I don't think this video is even on their radar of concern. But one day it will be. I'm glad we have it. In the meantime, they are great kids. They've adjusted well and are living vibrant, healthy lives out of the shadow of grief that we had to walk through. I am so blessed. Praise the Lord.
The song's on Wayne's CD titled by the same name, reissued but not currently in circulation that I can find. Christian bookstores carry his stuff only in greatest hits collections. If you're not the latest you get no contract. Find his "A season in your path" for old friends saying good bye.
I used to have that Cd some how it just dissapeared on me. I love this song It has so much meaning to me. I am 44 years old with a very bad heart I know I will be going home.
As will we all, t. Just lost my father-in-law to complications from diabetes and a wounded heart as well. If you know Him, yours isn't bad. Just damaged.
Beautiful! I recently lost my best friend and I searched for this song in his honor. This video is so heart warming! What a beautiful family so filled with love and happiness despite the trials they have gone through.
Thank you. We have precious memories to hold on to, but we've also enjoyed our new ones. I'm sorry for your loss and I hope you've had a time of peace since his passing. God bless.
What a beautiful video, I am so glad I found this, always have loved Wayne Watson's "Home Free" and you have made a living testament, what a beautiful smile she has.
Thanks for the great song that sums up our hopes for the future. I am sorry sorry for the loss to your family; at times I am sure it is unbearable. I can tell that you all do not mourn like those who have no hope. One day you will all be reunited; no more tears. Thank-you once again for sharing :)
What a Tribute! I am sorry for your loss. She looked like she lead a very full and loved life. that is something to be cherished. God Bless you and your family.
May God bless you and your wonderful children. It brought tears to my eyes. I'm a Brazilian guy and I saw this video 'cause I love this song and I found this tribute very beautiful!
Thank you for sharing this loving tribute with the world. It brought tears to my eyes. I hope you and your family are finding your way forward. My brother died of cancer at 47 leaving behind an 8-yr-old daughter. My mom, Eliana Beam, made it to 92 and I, also, posted a youtube tribute to her using the lyrics from "Mama" by Il Divo.
To experience a deep love we risk a deep hurt. I lost my Mom when I was 12. She was only 28. Two years later my Dad married a widow with two boys and between them they had my half-brother. I lost my second Mother four years ago, but I see it as being blessed with two Fantastic Moms. I am sorry for you lost and I pray that you family heals quickly and the joy of life continue to grow.
I am so sorry for your loss. She sounds like a wonderful woman. My mother died a year ago yesturday on her birthday after fighting 2 years against a violent inflamitory breast cancer. I was only 14 years old (now 15) and this song was wonderfullying healing. Hang in there. It will always hurt but will get better
Thank you so much for sharing. My heart is saddened for you too. Life has gotten better... we've moved on and grown on so many levels. But we'll never forget. This video helped us grieve, but it's also a tribute. I pray you've found strength in your life as you've moved on. God bless.
I was looking for the song "Homefree" and came across your video tribute. Very nice. I'm sorry for your loss, but it looks like you've been blessed with three beautiful children.
Thank you for sharing, my heart goes out to you kids and father. I just prayed for you, May the Lord Bless you. It says in Psalms 116:15, precious in the site of the Lord is the death of his saints.
This song is one that I had played at my wife's funeral now over ten years ago. It still hurts. My wife's grave marker reads, "The Ultimate Healing". Brother if it wasn't for Christ, I'd been a total mess. Hang in there Brother!
Hi...may God bless you. And strengthen you. mdj...PS how can i get this song...any one...we should all desire to go home to God our father...believer.
Plans for good and not for evil to give you a future and a hope. How wonderful the promise...all of those that have departed we will meet again. Their waiting on the other side excited and expecting us. This is our furture and this is our hope. Thank you Jesus.
I lost my mother suddenly when I was 12. I feel for you and your children and I pray that God sends the comforter and you and your family are comforted. I have been married 40 years and can't think about being without her, so I pray that your time of grief be short and the good memories remain till you meet again.
You have a beautiful family. While I don't know you personally I just pray, "and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:7
Thank you for sharing and posting this great song.I am sorry for the loss of your beloved Sondra. You honor her well. She is Home free!God's peace, love and comfort to you and your family.Much love to your family.Lisa xoxoxoxox
We're doing well. God has blessed us in the days since her passing, but there will always be a tender spot in the kids' hearts for their Mother. My goal through this was to help all of us remember who she was when times become difficult to remember.
Anthony, this is a beautiful, heartfelt tribute full of love and admiration for Sondra. Just watching this video, I can see and feel the love still, that flows between all of you. What a blessing it is to see it.
Memories... That's what it's all about now. Moving on, but keeping an eye on the past. I'm just trying to hold on to some triggers that take all of us (especially the kids) to better days.
sorry for your loss stay strong God is always with you and your family

Such a powerful song, well suited for a tribute. Its so hard sometimes to believe God cares when u lose someone near and dear to ur heart but the truth is that we all have to go one way or another, its the life we lived while here that matters. Keep the faith and God bless y'all.

I'm not familiar with the song... but it appears it is called Treasured Possession
by Mark Altrogge.
