When you look at this scene, compare it to when Javert was looking for Valjean in the beginning after Fantine dies. He's calm and in control, he just sighs and says "Keep searching". Here he's visibly frustrated yuo can see he's unraveling b/c of what happened at the barricades :(.
When I watched this with my friends, during the sewers scene, my friend was yelling, "I'm Old Valjean now, see? My hair is white! BUT I CAN STILL LIFT MY WEIGHT IN MARIUSES!!!!!!"
Actually, the 2000 French movie/6 hr. long TV show has Eponine in it. You should check it out, it has Gerard Depardieu as Valjean and John Malkovich as Javert. Bet you didn't know Malkovich could speak French!
I love Javert's bright-white bellbottoms... Wow, Inspecteur. Just WOW. And it's sad to see him seeming so...old. He limps now and all...poor French policeman...
