One of my fav songs from Jeffrey. Grew up w/him in King's. Boy do I remember the long intense rehearsals with him. Last saw him at my sister's funeral. RIP Alison.
This was a great workshop that I my mother and I went to for three years from California. We were the first people to come from California. Jeff is one of the most annointed and gifted musician, songwriter, and vocalist I had ever heard. Listening to him play the piano was so awesome. My time with him and this church with Bishop Baltimore changed my whole life and made me the music teacher I am today. Thank God for the experience.
Wow! This is a family favorite tune in my family. My mom and uncle have been singing it since it was introduced to them in Buffalo, NY at the Second Temple Missionary Baptist Church during the 1980s. Be Blessed! Such a powerful song!
Oh how I remember the recording of this album, we had such a great time, I was once the drummer for one of Dr. Jacobs chapters Philadelphia Praise. We had such a great time that week leading up to the recording, persons such as the late Rev. E. Davis of the Wilmington Chester Choir was put of and others, I can truely say those were the days, and Dr. jacobs has another album out that people seem to have forgotten about.
I didn't know Jeff Jacobs went this far back. I remember when he was Minister of Music at Bethel A.M.E in Baltimore, but I didn't know he was that prominent in gospel music before that. Learn something new everyday.
I'm from Philadelphia I sang on this album with Philadelphia Praise. My brother is the Organist! Wow, his name is Minister Bernard Vann. Thanks, I would love to have a copy of this Album. Does anyone no how Bishop Baltimore and his daughters the Baltimore sister are doing. We use to have a great time.
Hello. I believe the words are..."He loosed my shackles, set me free. Gave me love, joy and peace and oh such happiness." Wow, our college gospel choir used to sing this song and about 2-3 others from this album. I wish I could get it again. My tape was stolen back in '88 when my vehicle was broken into. I agree, this album was way before its time! I NEED to get it back into my collection. Can anyone help???
I was with Jacky Scott and Revelation Choir when we traveled to Washington D.C. to perform on the "Delivered" Minister Jeff Jacobs & The International Praise Gospel Music Workshop Choir. Revelation roll call!
@GREENWOODTRIBUNE Oh my......I rember that year just like it was yesterday. Jacky Scott and Revelation was bad on bad!! He could whip that organ like there was no tomorrow. I rember the night they were in concert. Totally awesome!!
IT is such a missing link as to y this project did not make it "across the street" BUT THIS SONG, 4 body of CHRIST is a BLESSING. Dr. Jacobs is still around, Blessing, Building & doing well as Chief Levite in a church in Capital Heights, MD!!!!
Man! This takes me back!! Thank you for posting this...What a great song..powerful. Check out "I Dont Have No Doubt" This recording was way ahead of it's time. The entire album was great.
I was looking to the newer version, but this rendition blessed me! With real lyrics and great arrangements, Jeff Jacobs remains an important gift to the Body of Christ!
@dougiemac622 No, my old choir director was Min. Van Davis of First Apostolic Church of Inglewood. At the end of the song you can here him go, "Whoo!!"
There you go in my tapes again! Maybe that is why I can't find the tape. LOL!! We used to sing this. My old choir director is directing this song on the recording.
I used to lead this when I sang with the United Voices of the FBC of Glenarden on the direction of Daryl Sims.....oh how I loved this song.
