  • Hmm, I just checked my song comment page, and this one was cross referenced to mine....glad it was! I guess this must be a night for songs about getting older, although I noticed this is song you posted a while back, and I just missed it.

You have a talent for writing universal lyrics people identify with, John....like your song about Empty Rooms. Just a wonderful song in every way...I feel like a 50 year old kid too...five big stars and a favorite. :)

    Janet

  • Thanks Janet! Glad ya liked it and I appreciate the kind words about my songs. I knew I had to write a song to commemorate this occasion. I did those well over a year ago, so I think it was before we were subscribing to each other. Love you songs and thanks again!

  • Beautiful song John. I feel the same way you do pal!

    Bill

  • All the "ee" rhymes in the first verse are very well done. Terrific imagery in this one.

The visual of the CD over the 45 is touching somehow.

    Hebbe

  • Hello John!

    I am a nearly sixtie-year-old kid.

In my mind I am still a young kid and I like the same things as always, but i must do it in a slower tempo. When I says I still is young, says my body no no no you are an old man LOL! But not too old to enjoy good music like your.

    Have a great weekend.

I got my first guitar which was a Christmas gift when I was 9 and also bought in Sears LOL!

    Rick

  • Thanks Rick! Yea, they could sure crank out the junky guitars. I finally got my hands on a nylon string that was easy for me to learn chords on. After I became more proficient at it, I switched to a steel string.

  • Thanks so much, Holly! I appreciate that and thanks to Frank too!

  • The Beatles Bit! YES!!!!! Awesome!

  • I went back and forth on using Beatle's covers and CD's but thought the 45 and the CD would be the best. It was a good thing I had older brothers who had some cash to buy records back then, so I could sneak into thier collection and 'borrow' them.

  • One more this John...The video, the edit, the images....Killer man!

  • Thanks again! My wife wanted to know if 'Caroline' was someone she should be concerned about. I told her that wasn't her real name and it was some 38 years ago...so probably not.

  • You are my favorite writer! And I want to tell you I sat here watching and listening to this and I got goose bumps with what you said!

This is just over any song I can think of, because your a truth teller! I don't even know...I'm inspired again! Fav and Stars all over this!!!! Someone needs to give you an award and a million dollar deal, your up there with simon and cash and all those cats...I know what I'm talking about John!

    Eloy

  • Thanks so much, Eloy! If I can provide any inspiration to the awesome music and videos you make, I am indeed honored! And thanks for the high praise and the feelings are mutual, my friend!

  • Thanks so much, Strat2caster! I'm glad I'm not in the boat alone! I appreciate your comment and thanks to Jane too!

  • This song makes me smile. With an attitude like yours you likely will be a 100 year old kid some day.Great reminisce John.

    Aloha from Hawaii,

    Thomas

  • Thanks so much, Thomas! It isn't so unusual these days to hit the 100 mark so maybe I got a shot. If I ever make the big money, I'm sure moving out to your state to live!

  • I can't imagine why anyone else would want to live in confusion, but I will welcome you with aloha when you arrive here :-)

    A hui hou,

    Thomas

  • My wife has a brother and a freind that live there and I hear it's 70 and sunny all the time. We're just heading into winter here, so it can be pretty depressing.

  • So your brother-in-law lives in the state of confusion? cool, we're probably neighbors...

    LOL

It's 60 degrees, dark and rainy here today.

Whenever I feel depressed I pick up the guitar.

    :-)

  • Amen to that! What would we do without our music?

  • Excellent, fantastic song *****

  • Thanks Doug and thanks for the stars!

  • Just Great Thanks

  • Thanks Ghostgal! So glad ya liked it!

  • Just a wonderful John Fern original. I knew the guy before he was old and famous. :)

  • Thanks Buck! I appreciate that, but I'm still just an old unknown guy. :)

  • Wonderful song! *****

I can so relate! -damn AARP sends me a letter every week. My 1st guitar was $19.95 of Santa's' budget. So many things here that remind me of our lifetime Beatles/CCR/fish'n

Brilliant lyrics! Great video! ***** (5 more!)

  • Thanks Moondogg55! The AARP letter was the first time it hit me in the gut that I was hitting 50! It's a shame that kids these days aren't getting the old guitars, they just want to learn guitar hero. Very sad.

Those old 45's don't play so well anymore, but I'm glad I saved them for the video!

  • Great song great performance and I beleive you. Thanks for the memory.. I,m 70 and it still applies.

    Ken

  • Thanks so much, Ken! I was so glad to hear your comment, cause I hoped the song would appeal to everyone, and not just those who are turning 50.
