  • RESPECT !

  • Nice project! Hope you will finish it!

  • This man has achieved god-like status. Wow. Just wow.

  • seriously i want one of those! maybe in the future i will build one of these..... enjoy it!

  • very very very nice brother

  • wow you should post video's of looking through it

  • imagine how much this thing is worth... O_o

  • Can I come around one day and have a look, maybe you can show me how to make one myself?

  • Really a good telescope. Nice work. I salute you for such a great effort !

  • If we were friends, I would dolly that thing up a mountain if you'd let me gaze through it. Amazing work.

  • Is this homemade telescope better then Meade 20 inch Cassegrain in visual mode.

I understand u only use this beast in visual mode.

Me new to astronomi and will get a telescope soon

  • @tompa666 they serve different purposes

  • 1. it is much more comfortable to observe the sky with both eyes

    2. we see a pseudo relief

    3. we see more details in the observed objects

  • ok I have to ask why do you have two are you planing on getting stereoscopic images because that's not going to work 3D is highly over rated, for a human eye it works only up to a few m at the most.

I am just saying why have one telescope when you could have two otherwise that's a sweet set up.

  • @crusheroftheist I think it would be ehh

  • Galileo needed this! :P

  • NOICE

  • wow really nice i love to build a scope like that wow!!

  • Chuck norris glasses

  • it's a beautiful telescolpe...

  • Wow! someday I hope to own a telescope large enough that moving it requires a back support. I have a mojor case of aperture envy

  • Wow! I bet you enjoy some great nights under the stars with that monster! Great job!

  • Nice job man...... Nasa should be jealous!!!! lol

  • Superb. A lot of viewers here would really like to see some images from this, myself included.

    Very nice.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice Job There man

  • thats the nices homemade telescope i ever seen. great job

  • thats a brilliant idea!!! I wish you would take some photos through it. ps I made my own 10" Dobsonian as a child (I made the mirror too)...took ages :)

  • haha Nager deuce deuce.

but in all seriousness this thing looks badass, i wish i had one.

  • я хочу в него посмотреть...вот это вещица!!!

  • Wow! I thought I had Aperture Fever! I would recommend a small pick-up truck or horse to pull that thing around with. Nice toy you go there.

  • Wow! I thought I had Aperture Fever! I would recommend a small pick-up truck or horse to pull that thing around with. Nice toy you go there.

  • Wow, that is very impressive. Great build!

  • O.K. I support the man with his 2 400mm Binocular Telescopes, but I will say this, it is a MAJOR , heavy laboured TASK & Very "EXPENSIVE to make". I estimate to build a Double Bincocular Telescope of twin Parabolic Newtonian 16" 400mm. double Telescope, Wood Work and varnish-finishig, and Binocular Professional Assembly to Cost a wopping! $25,000 Dollars when labour and parts & assembly are all included, the price of a New Car medium luxury!!!!

  • 3 years of making huh ... It would be hilarious if it would turn over and break while you moving it .

  • @crusheroftheist Don't forget with Newtonian Reflectors before inserting your Celestron Binoviewer, you need to insert your 2x Barlow to reach "Focus" with your Reflectors' short drawtube then insert the Binoviewer after the 2x Barlow insertion. Happy StarGazing!!!!

  • @crusheroftheist Sorry Friend, but with your 400mm. Binocular all you need is to have a 400mm. Aperture Telescope, say a Parabolic Newtonian, then Use a "BINOVIEWER by Celestron" its a LOT CHEAPER and is Stereo Bincocular Binoviewer. Why go through the Time consumption and Money Waste buiding a 2nd 400mm. Parabolic Mirror. Real Crazy People who blow money making 2 400mm. Telescopes when you only need 1 Telescope with a BINOVIEWER with 2 25mm. Plossl Eyepieces for Binocular Stereo Vision!!!!

  • @Jules7892 Jules, binoviewers are crap for deep sky and if you dont understand the concept of a binoscope you are in the wrong hobby. If everybody would dream of having a TS Gigant 152 binocular refractor for ex and few can undertand a newt binoscope concept, you are the one who got a problem.Newt bino is nothing from mars, thousands of people have them so now you know "Jules".Look at yourself before talking of others

  • @ahlberto Mr. Alberto, I too, I am Jules Vieira Accomplished Astro-Photographer of ASTRONOMY Magazine December 1982. It is obvious that you have NOT ever looked through high Quality Celestron or Deinemeiker Binoviewers on any Commercially produced Telescope. Your statement about Binoviewers not suitable for Deep Sky,is Incorrect, since it appears you have NEVER owned or used Binoviewers, they are just like Binocular Multi-Coated Prism heads on StereoScopes and Lab Microscopes Professional!!!!

  • @Jules7892 Uau,they published a photto of yours on astronomy magazine on 82?You must be proud!!what an acomplishment...You must be well known since your work dont appear anywere..Ive had all that crap f binos.Ive had and sold a denk S2 powerswitch with denk binos too on my C8 and ive done allot of observing trough a 18" dob .Binos were a waste of money and only served for brigth objects like planets. Calling crazy a ma-and binoscope folks- who has tecnical skills wich you dont have is rude

  • @ahlberto Mr. Alberto, Carlos, Binoviewers are NOT Binoculars, they are similar to Bincoculars only that they both have 4 Prisms but are NOT Porro Binoculers, they are Prisms like Binoculars but "without" the Objectives or Eyepieces, you provide or get your own double eyepieces of Equal Focal Length and insert them into "Binoviewers and insert them with say 2 20 or 25mm. Focal Length Plossls or Wide Angled Eyepieces, Binoviewers have a 1.25" or 2" nose 1.25" is more common & flexible, Try them!

  • @ahlberto Carlos, Alberto they are called "DENKMEIER Binoviewers for $523.00 base price without eyepieces". But the Celestron Binoviewers at $279.00 have your Ocular diopter settings just like Binoculars and come with 2 Equal 20mm. Plossl Eyepieces , READY for Usage on ALL your Telescopes , Refractors, Schmidt-Cassegrains,Makutov-Cassegrains, and Reflectors with 1st 2x Barlow insertion then the Binoviewer insertion due to Parabolic Newtonians short drawtube travel, needs a1.6x or 2x Barlowinsert!

  • I'm so jealous! ^_^

  • Oh and: ! wow, you're such brilliant and patient creator to have built this complex contraption (even the servo motors for the eyepieces!) put some rising & joyful-uplifting music on such a video :):):) this music you use is so pretty but fits better to something declining, departing, lost, leaving...

Best of luck with finishing it :D!!

  • These two fuckers better be aligned to eachother cuz there's only one finder scope, and when i see the size of the finder scope it looks like it may make a use of a small finder scope itself--hahaha :D Can't wait to go home to my scope as well!

    cheers!

  • WOW Does it Fly..?? Those After Burners Are Kick Ass

  • WOW Does it Fly..??

  • when I look down the tube of my scope, my image is of course distorted, but when you turn the camera down the tubes in this video, it looks completely flat.

  • Мужик просто монстр ... такое создал

  • nice work!!!

    clear skies for you!!!!

  • First I collimate eatch tube then I decollimate few eatch tube to merge the images from the tubes. This laser, this is not difficult. But to minimize the second step (co-collimation) it is hard do to because first it is not easy to understand the mistake and correct it and second it is not easy to apply the mirror's correction due to big difficulties to move a little bit the secondaries and tertiairies mirrors. But the co-collimation error is very small and the quality's degradation is minime

  • @crusheroftheist Sorry! I dont understand your question!

  • @stealthmummy

Sorry I just use this bino in visual mode

  • Fantastic!

  • this is genius

  • Great scope. Don't pay attention to the haters -- or more specifically, to people who don't understand your passion. A lot of people like to complain about things they have never witnessed first-hand. For example, some people say it's not worth getting a large telescope if you live in a place with bad seeing. Most of these people have never looked through a large aperture, quality instrument.

  • @postcolonial1

    You're right!

    Thank you very much!

  • @burns300 Are you mister bean?? :P

  • LOOKS PRETTY DARN GOOD TO ME

  • would have been nice to seen something through that, it looks interesting

  • impressive but what does stereo really get you? just to be able to see with both eyes? because even watching aircraft you don't get a 3d effect with that. and obviously not stellar bodies.

if you wanted to view with both eyes then why not partial mirror and two eye pieces? or digital viewing

  • @DanFrederiksen

This optical design give a pseudo 3D effect, not with partial mirror and 2 eyepieces.

With the pseudo 3D effect I can see a star not in the same plan than the cluster just in front of as M11. Eatch optical channel has no common part with the other.

The confort of observation is full with this design. Search one and look in it!

  • @burns300 pseudo 3d? how so? because of slightly different heat shimmer?

otherwise I assure you there is exactly zero difference in the view of the stars because they are of course so phenomenally far away.

I don't think there is any rational reason for two tubes other than sophisticated interferometry

  • @DanFrederiksen OK Dan, my English is too poor to explain correctly this phenomen.

You must search on the wed the explanation.

    Best Regards

    burns

  • @burns300 in general you can just use google translate to guide your english. good way to learn too. that way you can write it in french.

I know that looking through binocular is 'clearer' than a mono but that's because you use both eyes and get double the light. not because there are different light paths although there might be a minor gain if the atmospheric shimmer is different between the two but would be highly local if any. must be better to use a single larger telescope.

  • En plus, il est impossible avec une tête binoculaire d'utiliser des Nagler ayant 82° de champ de vision.

Look at Cloudy Nights Telescope Review

    burns

  • @burns300 why would it not be possible to use a particular eye piece? it should simply be a matter of the right place to put the splitting mirror.

and beyond that I believe it is much better to have a digital imager and watch it in comfort on a good high resolution monitor. like the proffesionals do.

maybe a newer relativetly cheap canon DSLR can operate remotely

  • @burns300 hey dude turns out im studying french...but only like 1 month so far.....so all i know is the basics

  • @DanFrederiksen Could you translate please? I'm interested in the answer. Thanks.

  • @place910 basically just what he said in english too. that he thinks there is a pseudo 3D effect. there can't be though. even if the two tubes were placed on either side of the planet would you get any 3d depth on the sky. although you would see the moon in 3D.

there is benefit to getting the input to both eyes. and probably a bit advantage that the shimmer is slightly different in each eye. I don't think there is good reason to have binocular star scopes. awesome for terrestrial though :)

  • What are the specs on these? and how much have you invested in them? I am absolutely amazed. You have go to do yourself a favor and build a observatory so you don't have to lug it around like that.

  • @Aaotrom

    Focal lenght = 1900mm

Diameter of primary mirror = 400mm

    Magnification = from 100x (50') to 400x (12.5')

    investisment = 12000€

  • truly truly impressive. Bravo

this is like star gazing with a big screen tv attached to a telescope. Goodluck to you and again you really should build yourself an observatory so you don't have to lug it in and out.

  • I am absolutely amazed by this. You did a hell of a job. You gotta do yourself a favor and build an observatory so you don't have to carry it around

  • Lol My entire telescope 60X700 is just a tad bigger than the optical finder. Awesome job sir!

  • Excellent work sir. I particularly admire your set-up for inter-ocular spacing and focus. I built a very similar 10" instrument in 1989 that works extremely well but, you have taken the details to a much higher level than I did. I see that you ground your mirrors as well. Very impressive!!!

  • @1958fm

    thank you!

  • This scope is great , I would love to see what you can see through it . It wouldn't be a bad idea to buy an old handycam and attach it with it so you can record and even capture the images . Good Work!

  • Anyone know where the piano score is from?

  • @grimtango5280

Moonlight sonata first mvt by Beethoven

  • Not bad at all. But the OTA extends way above the secondary spider so he'd have to jam his head between that thing. Probably should just cut off the useless extension.

  • @burns300

-So, -are there any settlements on Mars? ;)

..That´s some wicked specs on a kickass contraption, - Hat´s off to the effort, ingenuity, and obvious dedication to detail. The balance-exchange on the pivotal jackup is a beauty of functional elegance and marvelous simplicity.

Do you need a permit to build a peeker like that -

    And if not, -same stupid question as everybody else;

    -Photograps or video-

Why the h*ck not, old timer, -

    ?:)

  • @RePetes1

This bino is only designed for visual use

    Sorry, no pix..

  • Impressionnant ! Bravo pour la patience et pour le travail ! Ca donne envie de jeter un oeil dedans :-)

  • Man, old people have soooo much knowledge.

  • yeah i bet it doesn't take good pics anyway. If it did then this guy would brag about it and post pics on the net. Hell I would.

  • This design is completely dedicated to visual observation only. It is not designed for photography. A photographic astronomical system is a different animal all together.

  • need some help with that monster??

  • Amazing project !!

  • OUTSTANDING !!!

  • amazing work! did u built of off scratch?

  • Amazing work! It's one thing to be interested in astronomy, but to take it this far... Respect to you, my friend.

I only have an Astromaster 114EQ (5" aperture, 1000mm FL), but am upgrading to an XT8 in a few months.

  • one star for the background music

  • why did you steel king kongs binocualrs give it back :) lol

  • wow thats one huge ass binocuars great job nice work and man upload some pics of space thanks!

  • Absolutely marvellous! Fantastic job and well done. One of the best, if not the best binoscopes I have seen :) How envious I am :(

  • I want this letter to serve as an oasis of sanity in Burns300's desert of foolishness. So, without further ado, I present you with this all-important piece of information: In my observations upon neocolonialism, I have expressed no opinion thus far of the mode of its extinguishment or melioration. I will note, however, though I still have nothing to propose, that Burns300's wisecracks are more often out of sync with democratic values than aligned with them.

  • as I can see you have to much free time :) GREAT GREAT JOB!!! Very nice!

  • I would like to do the same thing you have done here wow ... What a lot of work but for the only optics you will need for a life time . Just WOW man wow. i promise one day i will do what you have done here. Thank you for showing me and all the rest what can be done. Any idea what it would cost to buy somthing like that pre manufactured ? Compared to the price of parts to build time is of no consern to me i would happily give up 5 -6 years of free time for this device thanks for makin it

  • This is a great instrument you have made. I know it is not set up for astro photography and that is a huge disapointment for the rest of us who can not see what you see.

  • You Sir are a genius.....stunning piece of work!

  • Well that's new and it looks nice.....I flaged your video on accident sorry and one more thing....what's the name of the song

  • man that is 1 piece of work

  • you are a total Genius, WOW

never seen anything like this before.

  • Man! That's a beautiful thing!

    Really really liked it!

  • for gods sakes make me one lol

  • this is very nice

  • Wow!

    Clapping and congratulations!

    :)

  • Outstanding work! Congrats!

However, would you mind showing us any picture or video so that we can see the power of your 'binoscope'?

I don't know if it's a rule or what, but those who go and build a telescope by their own, never ever consider posting a picture or video where people can see the performance of the device they've just built. They only seem to be interested in showning their work finished. Why?

  • @Arlekean

    Thank you for interet

My bino is only for visual use and not for picture capture. Sorry

  • @burns300 Well it's not like it's impossible to put a camera on it. Even though you can't track I am fairly certain that you will get an alright result photographing the moon and other planets. Or even M42, M31 with high iso and short shutter.

  • @burns300 there are many webcam to telescope conversions for a webcam out there, maybe look into making one for ur binoscope :D

  • @Arlekean You know I used to think the same before I got into this. There are many reasons for it. First of all imaging requires a lot of other fancy and expensive equipment. Not just a camera, but precise and accurate tracking etc. You cant just put a cam there and snap a picture, it doesnt come out. Secondly, what you see through your eye and what you see in a picture can be TOTALLY different depending on a large number of factors such as eyepieces etc. So you just have to see through one :).

  • @grimtango5280 Hey, it happened that I finally got my own telescope. It's a sky watcher 8". I now know what you're talking about. Thanx for the comment!

  • You need to secure it from falling, it sure dont look safe. Better safe than sorry ;)

  • Can I use instead of Flat mirror a prism for Secondary mirror?

  • LOL at the trolley

  • That's incredible! I want one!!!

  • YOU ARE MY HERO!

I cannot imagine the secrets that binoscope might reveal!

  • A marvellous device.. Congratulations :)

  • man i thought that was gonna fall off the trolley 0.0, but nice vid

  • very nice sir....

its nicer if you can share with us the building process..:-)

  • aslo how much cost yo build it?

  • 12000€

  • can you take some astro pictures?

  • sorry, only visual use...

  • Perfekt technical processing :-)

  • Congratulations friend, that binoscope is absolutely fantastic, and the music too :) ...one hug from Brasil.

  • whats the name of the song please?

  • Moonlight sonata adagio op27 by Beethoven

  • good look

  • The third Earl of Rosse will be proud!:D

  • muy lindo el video, pero despues de tanto trabajo ya no te debe quedar ganas de ver nada!!! pero muy bueno.....

  • You MUST make a better base/roller for it! It will tip someday!

  • Really inspiring work! And what part could be better then moonlight sonata :) greetings from sweden.

  • burns300

love your work,,You are a master mechanic.I bet the views are fantastic.

  • such a sad song for such a HUGE binocular

  • exelente , you are more crazy than me , i'm optician , from argentina , congratulation

  • i want to be able to use this binoscope it is a must seen threw the sky

  • lol you are sick man rofl

  • all i can think is... man that sun is going to hit right down the tube and burn that thing up, put a cover over your tubes!

  • So how difficult is it for you to gaze at things approaching 90degrees?

  • Is this a clock drive? I truly love star gazing with my binoculars just as much as with my telescope. The fullness of view must be amazing!

  • wow excelente

  • Its looking like a rocket launcher...

  • You should try looking at the sun through it. =]

  • had you maken it ? it is a big jog. i like very much

  • this is a monster [2]

  • That is a monster! I cant image the awesomeness produced by this binoscope, it must be truly breathtaking.

  • Cool.. I love the idea of building telescopes!!

  • help a oldman

  • Beautiful, simply beautiful.

  • you are a very talanted man with such dedication great job!!

  • Congratulations! Great idea. It is a great encouragement to know that there are people like you producing science. São Luís - Maranhão - Brazil

  • do you have lens covers for it?

  • you really need to build its own building. moving it around like that is asking for the mirros to mess up or worse yet fall over and smash. i like youre scope a lot. are you going to encase it in black matte finish?.

  • AMAZING !!!

  • you've ever seen any UFO?

maybe you can take a photograph

  • Song is called Moonlight Sonata

  • the great binoscope..giant

  • that is the size and amplification level known commonly as "stupid powerful" but that term is only bad if it's used on a department store shit-scope. GREAT WORK! this is like the big bertha of scopes.

  • OMG. I have one exactly the same.

  • Great work ! Congratulations !!

  • ¡¡Increible! J'aime l'astronomie et de l'établissement m'a laissé surprendre. J'aime et je voudrais que, comme un télescope.

Je voudrais voir une image d'un objet vu à ce Binoscopio s'il vous plaît.

    Greetings from Peru

  • excelent! awesome.. i have one but the primaries mirror diam. are 114mm and the focales 900mm... where are you from?... I'm from argentina.. my english is very bad jaja!

  • The Scope looks great ! But do you have balancing problems? Can you change out the eyepieces without the scope "unbalancing"? Great Design! Have fun with the scope!

  • Hi ksastro!

I have no problem with balancing during eyepieces change because I block the elevation's axis to do that and all eyepieces have the same weight.

    Thank you for comment.

    burns

  • are the mirrors store bought or home made?

  • Nice looking scope, but... video would be greater if you had voice explaing the scope as you show it & set it up. Also, you show much on the scope but never show us the results! How does it look? Can you show us what you see through the lenses?

  • thank you!

Because I don't speek english very well, I say nothing in this video.

I show no result because the bino is only visual use.

    Sorry.

    Thank you for cpmment.

    burns

  • MY GOD, this is the best telescope video i have seen. Congratulations Burns, you should sell the method you used, or the blueprints, it would sell very well.

  • can u catch some ufo with this?

  • Awesome

  • sorprendente, un vero genio.

quanto vorrei conoscerlo per imparare da lui!!!

  • ¡¡¡quiero
