Generic, repetitve non-melodic music. I have truly given up on chicane, I know that artists move on with the times but maybe these are bad times too because I'm just starting to lose faith in the entire EDM scene these days. Artists like Chicane, Tiesto, Scooter used to make wonderful music that could trigger emotions deep down inside you, sometimes through instrumentals, but that talent has dried up across the majority of the music industry. I would class a track with only 3 weeks in the top 10 as relative success when comparing to a track like Dont Give Up which went to number 1. I would bet my mortgage that the sales figure for Poppiholla didnt come anywhere near Dont Give Up or Saltwater!
I admit, i had forgotten about Stoned In Love's relative success too. However, thats only 2 singles that have done anything like what his older stuff did.
@jiffybing As for Bruised Water, i have to question your hearing cause the version that Nick released was a lot different to the mashup that someone originally placed on youtube. The mashup was simply Saltwater with Natasha Bedingfield's vocals over the top. Nick altered it A LOT for his version, which was nowhere near as good.

This was basically the end of the old Chicane sound. Nick had to sell his Ferrari in order to fund his next album, "Somersault", and artistically, it was all downhill from there. My opinion, of course.
Hes already disgraced the Chicane name, i just hope he leaves the Disco Citizens one alone. Though ,i know hes already used it in some pretty bad remixes, so thats not looking too likely really.

I for one love it and also feel Chicane music really doesn't belong to any particular genre.

this music video is crap, the puppet is fine as it reminded of me of The Muppets and Sesame Street but seriously is this even suitable for children/teenagers under 18? it's bullshit, complete bullshit and the track itself is crap aswell.

Nick Bracegirdle is the sole reason i got into trance. The man will always be a legend to me for his past, but why shouldnt i complain about what he makes now? People are free to compliment so his original fans should also be free to complain. If people cant handle that, simply dont read it!

It has had massive club support championed by radio jocks Steve Smart, Judge Jules, Scott Mills, not to mention Armin, the worlds number 1 jock. They must all be wrong???????? Why cant you just accept that you dont like it and be done with it. Stories of chicane tunes of old are growing very tired. I think its a current and bangin tune, commercial and up to date. not tricky to grasp!

Stoned in Love - Poor!
Bruised Water - Shocking! The original mashup was far better!
Poppiholla - OK!
Hiding All The Stars - God, there are no words to describe how truly awful that track is.
Come Back - Yawn, another cover, and again, poor.
Middledistancerunner - Probably the best of his releases since 2006. Sadly, can only really be classed as OK.
Going Deep - A new contender for worst Chicane track ever!

@jiffybing Sales wise? None of the tunes i listed have done anywhere near as well, sales wise, as his older stuff.
Dont Give Up charted at number 1 in the UK, Saltwater charted as high as 6 and Offshore reach number 12. The album Behind The Sun also reached the top 10.
Since Nick's change in style, hes only had moderate success with Poppiholla. Where is this sales success that you speak of?

Stoned went in at number 8, climbed also to 7 and spent 4 weeks top 10. also featured on the Jonathan Ross show. Bruised water was the same mashup you dufus, no different???!!!!!

@jiffybing Already mentioned Poppiholla, which had relative success. I would class a track with only 3 weeks in the top 10 as relative success when comparing to a track like Dont Give Up which went to number 1. I would bet my mortgage that the sales figure for Poppiholla didnt come anywhere near Dont Give Up or Saltwater!
I admit, i had forgotten about Stoned In Love's relative success too. However, thats only 2 singles that have done anything like what his older stuff did.

@jiffybing As for Bruised Water, i have to question your hearing cause the version that Nick released was a lot different to the mashup that someone originally placed on youtube. The mashup was simply Saltwater with Natasha Bedingfield's vocals over the top. Nick altered it A LOT for his version, which was nowhere near as good.
Also, the fact you close by turning to insults says a lot about you as a person so i shall refrain from replying to you in future as you clearly arent worth my time.

@adittya86 ETA is "Easy to Assemble", a Chicane album that has never been officially released, because it was leaked on the internet by some Russian dudes before street date. This was basically the end of the old Chicane sound. Nick had to sell his Ferrari in order to fund his next album, "Somersault", and artistically, it was all downhill from there. My opinion, of course.

trance has put one foot in the grave official. its a sad day for true trance fans. there is elements of the track that actually sounded good. until 1. the vocals spoilt it and the breakdown with the melody is like a clubland style tune.

Shocking! I didnt think Nick could beat the appalling Hiding All The Stars, but hes actually achieved it with this!
Thank god i still have the 2 good albums to listen to to look back on the days when Nick knew what he was doing. Sadly, he got sucked into the commercial world of crap.
I just wish he could have created a new identity for himself so that he didnt tarnish the name of Chicane. Its become abit of a laughing stock now.

Giants is appalling in comparison. The only half decent track on the album is From Where I Stand.

@benbracegirdle Correction, i was a Chicane fan. Im not anymore! I was a huge, huge fan from for around 10 years, but once he abandoned the sound that made him so good, there was nothing left to like. Hes nothing more than another pop artist now.
Anyway, why shouldnt we express our displeasure at the stuff he makes? Its no different to complimenting someone when they do something great. Criticism should be allowed just as much as positivity.

It appears everybody who has slagged off the video and tune has had a sense of humour failure. Why can't making music be fun and videos be entertaining????? The only thing i can say is that people what to live in the past and be narrow minded. I LOVE the TUNE and LOVE the video. its amazing what a tune.............

I cant really see why everybody is slating this song and video, what is so wrong with having a bit of fun with a track and video?????? If the song is so bad why would scott mills play it on his friday night show for the past 2 weeks. I LOVE the tune and i LOVE the video and i can't see anything wrong with chicane wanting to try new things and i don't really see why they should be slated for that.
