Okay, this is my last comment. Please pardon me for spamming the comment section of the YouTube video, but it bears to explain, because there are going to be people who really don't know MIDI is when they look at a video such as this. Well, this video seems to target the audience with a good understanding of MIDI, so when there is a comment such as "No sound? Hmm, I'll pass," they have no idea what they are talking about due to a lack of knowledge about MIDI.
Now, do you see what I'm getting at? You can do a quick or slow sweep of a filter or you can move your slider up and down like crazy at quick speeds in conjunction with pan (10) and expression (11).
MIDI is a language -- a way to communicate with each other.
This is my third time posting my comment. Here comes CAPTCHA... :(
Suppose you want to do a filter sweep of a bass instrument (assuming bank 12, patch 36 -- remember, MIDI does not know what an instrument sounds like). The filter sweep/cutoff is at MIDI Controller Change Number 44 and filter resonance is 45 (synthesizers are not created equal). You assign CC#44 to slider 1 and CC#45 to knob 1.
Okay, your slider is at 0/127, right? While you are in recording mode, as you begin to raise the slider, you are sending continuous MIDI data. (Continues to next part.)
MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and it's for communicating with hardware synthesizers, software synthesizers, controllers, sequencers, electronic drum sets, and many that you can think of. To play the instrument at key 48, with a velocity of 100 out of 127 (how loud the sound is) for 1 quarter note at 120 beats per minute, you send a MIDI Note ON with that information. Then, after one quarter note, you send MIDI Note OFF and the sound stops playing.
VEGAS!

So, here's how it works:

Hi I also have a Mackie Controller Pro and I have troubles syncing it with my DAW, are there extra cables you would need or just the simple USB?

@Juancito413 There is NO AUDIO ROUTING to the desk. It is purely for MIDI control, roody doesn't know what he's talking about!
