i have a question . what if you have more than one user? do they all get backed up together or come back together, or u have to back up each by itself. cz i have users that they shared downloaded stuff from psn with me, and i dont wanna lose that
@mustowe According to Sony, you should backup your trophies to the Playstation Network when transferring to a new PS3: "Back up, or "sync", trophy information on the PS3™ system with the PlayStation®Network server if you want to transfer trophy information. - Sign in to PlayStation®Network, and then select (Game) > (Trophy Collection)."
@GadgetMadness when i tryed that on my mates ps3 when we did the switch it wiped all his trophy's so wasn't to happy about that ... but i will just hope for the best thank you for your fast reply thank you very much with your videos they helped alot
make sure when you download update file and put it on ur scan disk you put it as so.. all caps!!!! PS3---UPDATE----then the ps update file if its not in caps it will not upload to your ps3
just updated my ps3 from 120gb to 640gb. installing the hard drive was simple but backing up the data was a true pain in the ass, kept getting 80010038 error at around 84%.
Got it to backup finally by uninstalling all my games and deleting all my music and videos (thankfully i've got them on an external hdd).
that backup utility is a pain in the ass, wish it'd give more information as to why it fails, that error code is useless, even sony doesn't seem to know what it means.
I've done everything PERFECT (folder order, all caps, downloaded directly to the UPDATE folder) even formatted the usb drive AND the HD to FAT32. Still no go.
Tried burning to a CD and that don't work either.
Very frustrated and started to wonder if i own the shittiest PS3 ever made!
Searched every forum on the internet to read posts like "thanks m8 that worked!!"
If anybody has any suggestions i would appreciate it.
can I change the hdd from my other ps3 and not lose all the stuff ?

My PS3 does not find the PUP file.
