Film capolavoro, molto sottovalutato; uno dei pochi che trattano la guerra dal punto di vista dei tedeschi in maniera chiara: c'è un mix perfetto di antimilitarismo e di retorica (perchè quella non manca mai) senza però scadere nella banalità; scene di guerra eccezionali, una su tutte l'attacco dei carri russi. C'è un omologo film americano "Prima Linea" di Robert Aldrich.

Il fratello di nonno che ha vissuto la Campana di Russia, salvatosi per miracolo da un plotone d'esecuzione tedesco dopo l'8 settembre, combattente partigiano in cecosclavacchia, visto il film - molto serio - mi disse che è stato il primo film che gli ha fatto rivivere le dinamiche della guerrà come essa in effetti è. Credo sia un giudizio non tecnico ma altrettanto importante. Un saluto a tutti Marco.

Ecco, la mattina dopo che questo film fu dato in TV mi disse: "E' il primo film che racconta la guerra com'è!". Era sconvolto. Forse questo vale come tanti giudizi critici ... anche se non tecnico. Salute a tutti da Marco.

Affermando comunque il mio rispetto per questo eccezionale regista concordo con le critiche,non sembra nemmeno la stessa mano e tutto sembra virare al grottesco se non nella banalità.Probabilmente Peckinpah non era nel suo momento migliore(alcool & droghe non aiutano molto) ed è un peccato perchè l'idea di vedere la guerra dalla parte dei tedeschi è sempre stata un tabù per gli americani,popolo notoriamente violento e razzista ma stranamente vincolato dall'ipocrisia del "politically correct"

Infatti per quanto sia molto sgangherato l'esorcista è girato infinitamente meglio di questo ciarpame, e non mi farebbe ridere per un secondo.

Non capisco cosa c'entri il settimo sigillo però, è una pellicola che appartiene ad un altro tipo di cinema. Comunque il mio è un discorso sullo stile col quale è stata girata questa scena. Lo trovo comico, tutto qui.

Nel resto del film un paio di cose ammetto che ufnzionano, almeno per l'effetto shock molto anni 70.

nel 1977 non esistevano gli effetti digitali moderni, e comunque scene di questo tipo purtroppo non sono state solo finzione cinematografica. sam peckinpah grande regista. se vuoi ridere ancora di più guardati l'intero film, non accontentarti di 6 miseri minuti. io sto ancora ridendo leggendo il tuo incompetente commento.

Per quanto riguarda gli stuntmen e gli effetti speciali scenici allora disponibili, Sam Peckinpah (assieme a Friedkin) era assolutamente il top (dò per scontato che tu stia criticando solo questo aspetto). Se invece ti riferisci al "girare un film" inteso come rappresentazione "cinematografica" di una storia, ti ricordo che questo è, a giudizio unanime, uno dei massimi registi anni '60-'70, e che nè io nè (tantomeno) tu siamo all'altezza di giudicare così perentoriamente un suo film.

Sappi che ovviamente non giudico gli effetti, ma lo stile che è acronico, non invecchia in poche parole.

Di solito, chi dà giudizi un troppo perentori fa capire di non avere argomenti (mi spiace, ma la cresta sei tu ad averla alzata); quelli che posseggono degli strumenti sono soliti discutere su/motivare ciò che affermano.

Su "La croce di ferro" ho letto alcune critiche molto argute (una fra tutte: la rappresentazione un pò troppo "americana" dei personaggi), ma non nel tuo commento.

Tu hai risposto che non sono in grado di igudicare l'operato del resita. Dimmi un po' chi ha alzato la cresta dei due.

Vuoi argomentazione? Bastava chiederle subito (eh scusami caro..):

-zoom fuori luogo, molto western certo, di effetto fumettistico

-rallenty abusato come al solito, ma stavolta con l'effetto comico di una sorta di sparatoria "lunare"

-fantastiche le sequenze coi "balletti russi" :)

Per quanto nel film ci siano scene che riprendono il genere porno-splatter anni 70 e la telecamera documentario, il film cade miseramente in queste sequenze da western di serie b.

Un paio di appunti:1Coburn fa un'interpretazione molto sopra le righe (molto manierata) più che brutta... 2Peckinpah è il western crepuscolare americano (contrapposto a Leone, differente) 3Peckinpah è il mago del rallenty (abusato forse, ma ingrediente di sequenze memorabili nei suoi film) ed era comunque radicale ed "insistito" su alcune scelte stilistiche (non voglio dire che non avesse difetti, però è una questione di "poetica") 4Sui "balletti russi" ti dò ragione

Infatti il mio commento è personale, non faccio il critico ed i critici in pratica non hanno molto senso per come la vedo io. Diciamo che ho ben poco da spartire col cinema di Peckinpah e che per l'appunto ha questa dote di farmi uscire risate in posti dove nn starebbero, tutto qui. . Anche se ammetto che il finale e la risata dei credits mi sono piaciuti molto, in maniera più seria diciamo.Un saluto.

Leider gibt es auf DVD nicht die ganze Szene Donauwalzer zu sehen. Ich hatte das Glück 1990 ein Videotape von Cross of Iron Part 1zu bekommen mit 131min Länge ungekürzte Fassung.

If you have read the book then the film is a bit confusing because where the book starts at Steiner behind Russian lines in the film this happens more or less near the end of the film, from what I remember this scene doesn't happen in the book and Steiner's platoon are whittled down by 'normal' combat attrition.

Leader of the SA, Ernst Rohm, was indeed gay. Or at least he slept with men. Hitler didnt have Jewish ancestors, a relation through marriage was jewish and not connected by blood. Hitlers skull was broken and destroyed on route to Moscow so no accurate measurements were possible
