  • This song brings me back to my childhood. My parents are from UK, I was raised in Canada. The only reason I know this song is because my parents had a Rolf Harris record... It has been years since I heard any of his songs...but I will never forget them.

  • I had that exact same 45. What a blast from the past. Thanks for Posting. Great memories

  • i used to listen to this when i was a kid all the time.

  • A record? HELLO! It's the 21st Century!

  • @theawesomestawesomer I'm glad you know what it is... It's sort of a not-so-compact compact disc. (Compared to having all the singers AND the band, it's QUITE compact.)

  • @theawesomestawesomer It's okey, records are still used today. :-)

  • Can you please upload a video of the record player playing "Black Velvet Band"? That song is on the flipside of this record.

  • love this song soo cool

  • There's a movie out and it's about the end of the world and guess what? Yes, you guessed it - they built an ark for the lucky few!

  • this also was my first favorite song and my first 45 ;)

  • Why is this recommended to me?

  • I passionately love this song for the nostalgia, etc...but have to laugh as an adult that many other adults believe in this Noah's Ark story. Oh, those poor people. It's just a really cute song, the end. :)

  • @rachellebout

Perhaps the Unicorn is an angel and the animals are people?

  • Ooh my, thank you for this post, lots of memories of better times...

  • I loved this song as a girl. It brings back wonderful memories of sunny days and playing outside.

  • damn i cant beleive i just thought of that lol cute i think anyhoo

  • thank yu for the post

  • I would play this song over and over and over on the "Hi-Fi" record player. I was around 7 or 8 years old.

  • my english teacher made us listen to this hahah i love it

  • Is this the issue that has The Puppet Song as its flipside? Please post if so!

  • On the flipside is a song called "The Black Velvet Band".

  • @MusicLuvr76 Bravo to you for knowing that !!! :))) thanks !!! My great garandfahter used to sing the Black Velet Band !!! Thanks

  • my mum use to sing this to me when I was a wee child. I love it and it brings back so many memories

  • Hearing the Irish Rovers perform "The Unicorn" always brings a smile. I've loved their version of this from the first time I heard it in the late 60's.

The song, and the Irish Rovers, are absolutely timeless.

  • dont u forget my unicorn :D i love this song

  • I will be whistling this song all Night...I love it!

  • Humpty back camels... hehehe. This was used as the ending song to the Ray Rayner Show, a local Chicago kids show in the late 60s/70s. :)

  • Just wonderful.

    Takes me back.

Thanks for posting this wonderful song.

  • I'm only 18 but I've seriously listened to this song all my life XD

  • My mother used to sing this to me and my sister at bedtime over 40 years ago. It brings tears to my eyes.

  • Not only was it high on the pop hits, but it was probably one of the reasons the Irish Rovers got a TV show... yes, a TV variety series! And the whole family used to sit around and watch it.

  • arfcom in the house

  • love this song :D my sunday school class loves it too

  • UNICORN!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

  • This was one of our favorite childhood songs! My sister, my step brother and I would make our stepmother play this one and "Ring Of Fire" over and over again.

Hearing this song now really makes me smile.

  • I like this song, it's funny :D

I heard like two years ago with my mom.

  • First heard this song 37 years ago in grade school. Loved it then and love it today.

  • It is hard to believe (for anyone who is 21 or

younger) but I lived through that '60s decade

and will proudly testify...Yes, friends, there

truly was a time when songs like this actually

did become pop hits and score high on the

national 'top40' charts. Sad moment, wasn't

it, when the unicorns realized they'd

    screwed up! boohoohoo!

  • Found it! Everyone and their dog has this song out,but this is the first one I found that was actually performed by the Rovers!

  • lovely whimsical song! thanks for posting. :D
