i love diggin crates & finding stuff like this. but are you saying that people like J Dilla or Pete Rock haven't got real talent?? it's respect for music, and no one takes the credit away from the original artists, only those who are naive enough to not know.
@TheConqueror09 From a DJ's perspective, mixing and scratching and sampling songs is cool. What so called "artists" have done to this song and others was to destroy the original meaning and profit off of the backs of the real talent. I know Pete Rock and many others form the ol' Flatbush days and they always had respect for the music. But, lets not mistake Pete Rock's gift with the gift of the true artists. Writing and performing is much different than mixing and sampling.
Jesus, i feel like i keep reading such comment over and over, it's cultural heritage that's why you can be passionnated about knowing who sampled what, it's recognition to the original artist and culture, music knowledge. it's necessary for any disciplin or art, like philosophy or litterature for instance, you make new with old stuff, and it's always helpful to know your references so you don't think you have invented something out of nowhere.
I guess ... it's a superficial comment tainted with hatred for other artists. if Hip Hop wasn't using Soul and Funk for essence to it's creation, soul and fun would be like dead. Sampling is an Art. But i'm not going to try to convince someone who has cotton in his ears and closed mind.
@ardentepatience This Is True Many Wont Agree,But Hip Hop Brought Soul ,Funk ,R&B,Jazz Back To Life. Sampling Gave New Life 2 Alot Of Forgotten Hits. Alot Of Older Folks Used To Tell Me I Don't Like Hip Hop But I LIke The Music They Use. Becuase It Was The Music They Grew Up With & They Knew The Original Artist & Music. We Have 2 Admit Sampling Classic Provides Us With Much Better Music Then We Have Today.

Honestly, who gives a shit who sampled anything. The real talent is with those who wrote it in the first place.
