  • I love it!! My nephew is turning 4 in July and "cars" is all he talks about. I have to make this for him. I´ll be the cool aunt, oh yeah! :)

I didn´t understand every word, but I´m sure until july I will know how to do this.

I love your australian accent btw (if it´s not australian than i´m sorry and i´ll just shut up now..)

  • i have made a cake like that :D

  • that is really impressive i have my sons 1st birthday on valentines day, and im going to try to make him a cars birthday cake is there any tips you can please give me would be greatly appreciated.

  • @22sezza Thanks and so sorry for not writing earlier. Things have been a bit hectic with my boys. If you're wanting to do a car cake, best to freeze the cake then thaw and when it's still cold (but not frozen) scupture the cake with a serrated knife. If you have the right shape for the cake, then the rest will fall into place. Have fun!

  • That is awesome;-)

  • @stuntdevil25 Thanks :)

  • so cool!

  • @delikatesic Thanks! Yours is cool too - I am no good at piping!

  • es hermosoooo!! uff me ayudas necesito hacer una torta asi para mi sobroino y no encontre en internet como hacerlaaa.. me ayudas ? porfavorr

  • @1984stoker Thanks :)

  • very nice yesssssss...

  • i'm going to see cars 2 2night i loved the first one and the second one looks really cute

  • What flavor is it exactly?

  • i love this cake its so amazing! i was wondering can you make a video on how you do it step by step, cause i really wwanted to make a cake for my 4 yr old cousin!

  • @wonderwoman71810 Thanks for the comment. I'm really sorry I can't do a step by step video at the moment with 3 young kids to look after (the cake took me 7 hrs to decorate alone). When I made the cake I didn't even know if it would work out, so I didn't even think about taking pictures showing how to make it. I'll have to try and do one the next time I do a cake like this.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! I love cake ! kiss susanna italy

  • i love your cakes! :) one question, how did you get the thin black fondant lines? you said a sugar paste gun?

  • @stny221 Thanks. The equipment is called a sugarcraft gun, also known as an extruder. It's a really handy tool to have.

  • you do a great job on every cake I have seen! my little boy is CARS crazy he weould be so happy to get one. we will ahve a cars party just to enjoy a cake like this soon! haha. I wonder where I can buy fondant in my town??

  • @jennyboerding Thanks for your kind comments. Try your local Michael's store or places like global sugar art or sugarcraft online for fondant

  • it looks really good ,how do u make the red color on the car cuz i know is hard fo get that color right...thank you

  • @megachic78 I bought fondant that was already pre-coloured red, otherwise you'd need to add tonnes and tonnes of red colouring to white fondant and it would make it very wet. The black is also pre-coloured fondant. The brand I buy is from Australia and I do need to add white fondant to work with it as it is too hard to work with as it comes.

  • @15152278 how did you get the shape! i want to start making cakes too .. so any suggestions ideas qould be great

  • @TheTexasprincess08 I drew a diagram and worked out dimensions, then used a sharp serrated knife to carve the shape. I had to stick bits of cake on top ("glued" them together with icing) and shape them as well with the knife. I had a toy car to compare with as well, which helped

  • That is AMAZING, you're incredibly talented!

  • beutiful thats really flawless

  • How can I get this cake made? where are you located?

  • @yummyray1 Sorry, I can't help you. I'm in Australia, and I don't sell licensed character cakes because of copyright law.

  • Excellent!!!

  • You can't make that you bought it from a shop

  • why r u just telling us what u did instead of showing actually how u did it???? i know it might have taken longer but at least showing step by step would give us that idea how u did it

  • Super job!

  • nice cake and great job ! AMAZING

  • yummm where is ur location my sons birthday is october 16 and i want to have someone make a cake for me i think it would b cheaper maybe not way cheapear but every penny counts

  • Hi,

I just loveeee your very very beautiful car cake! I made one today for my son's birthday tomorrow. Thanks for the idea :)

  • Do you have a video with you doing a step by step of how to make the cake? If you have any instructions could you please send to ahwoolems@yahoo.com Thanks

  • @ceekinkiemee Sorry, I don't have a video - it took me 7 hours to decorate!

  • only the front looks like mcqueen not the side

  • only the front looks like mcqueen not the side and & 7 hours is too long

  • @panchon310 your a idiot

  • I have to tell you that i saw this cake and made it myself. Great job you did on it and it was only my 3rd cake and i havent had lessons :) Thanks for the great idea x

  • where did you order the cake? I need to order one. Thank you.

  • @LucyChan83 I didn't order it, I made it for my son's birthday.

  • This Lightening Mcqueen cake you made sounds very yummy. :)

Do you have a recipe for it? I'm thinking about making it, because cake's one of my favorite desserts. And Lightening Mcqueen's my favorite from "Cars."

  • That is really nice! Great job!

  • How do you make this kind of frosting it looks like and looks good please reply???

  • @vivawrestling Sorry for taking so long to reply. Had our 3rd baby 4 months ago. I don't make the frosting. It's called fondant and I buy Cake Art Red and black Plastic icing for the red and black fondant and Bakel's white pettinice for the rest.

  • Great Job! That's absolutely fantastic! I'm trying to get tips and ideas for my son's upcoming 3rd birthday, but I doubt I'd ever be able to do such a great job! Well Done!

  • @kimbakiki Thanks! Don't doubt yourself - at any rate your son will love whatever cake you make!

  • soooooooooooooooo CUTE , REALLY GOOD JOB .

  • That is just absolutely nuts! It looks just like lightning McQueen himself. You've probably been asked this lots of times though, but how long did it take you to do that and what was the cost of the things to make it as I am trying to make a T-rex for my 6 year old son, as that would be very helpful

  • @Ninecoder9 It took me about 7 hours to decorate the cake (ie not including baking time). I really don't know the cost of the things as I didn't note them down, but cost would vary depending on where you are (I am from Australia). Best to have a look at what you need for your cake and then calculate the cost.

  • @15152278 Well I'll just have enough time to make the cake and enough time worrying about the presents as I still havnt got the presents yet =$ but Im not as talanted as you but I shall try to make it to the best of my efforts and thanks for the info and the videos have really helped me with inspiration and ideas!

  • @Ninecoder9 Thanks for the compliment, and you're welcome - you never know until you give it a try :) Have fun and good luck! I'm sure your son will love it!

  • @15152278 I have just finished the cake for my son and boy was he pleased! If it werent for you're guides on here, it would of been a huge dissaster =$ I would try to send you pictures of the finished ( or what was ) cake but cant because of not knowing you're email but if you wish to send it, I will try to send my pictures. Good day!

  • Love it!!

    check out my cakes :)

  • Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me how much that Cake would serve? Would I be better off baking it in a longer pan? (a long rectangle, for example 5" x 15"?)

  • @NatalkaaP It depends on the size you want to serve. You could serve at least 30 if you cut smaller sized pieces (which we did as we had a meal and other dessert as well). You could bake it in a rectangle pan as long as the cake is deep enough and you have enough leftover cut offs to build up the middle section of the car.

  • i like your cake. my son will be 4 yrs next month and he like mcqueen and i really want to surprise him by making this cake. could u email me the instructions and what utensils i have to get.

  • Sorry, I don't really have instructions as I had to work it out as I went along, but if you read the other comments, I've answered a few questions which would help you make it. I had to carve the cake to make the car shape. The extruder is the most useful utensil that you need, apart from the usual cake decorating utensils. I drew templates on greaseproof paper to make the shapes on the actual car eg windows, lights, numbers. Hope that helps.

  • i love it! i want to see how u made it so i'll have an idea of where to start! i llooooveee itt!!!

  • Thanks! My son loved it too :)

  • How did u get it to look that red and yellow?

  • I bought pre-coloured red fondant (very difficult to get fondant that red otherwise), and I coloured white fondant with yellow food colouring get to make it yellow.

  • yo quiero hacer esa torta para mi hijo... esta realmente bella

  • Love it ! I need to make one but I am not sure were to start. you said you bake a 9 inch square and added 1 1/2 inches of cake to make it 10 1/2 inches long? I also want to know how much red fondant did you use?

  • Thanks! Yes, I cut a strip off the 9 inch square cake so I was left with ?5 inches by 9 inches (I think I mentioned the size in the video), then I cut off 1 1/2 inches by ?5 inches from the excess strip and stuck this on the end of the 9 inch long rectangle. I can't remember how much red fondant I used but it may well have been around 1 kg. You could make the dimensions smaller if you wanted a smaller cake. Hope that helps. Have fun!

  • ur so creative!! =)

  • Thanks :)

  • I love this cake! Your detailing on it is great! I really like the way you made the mouth:) The windows are great!

How was it to cut the fondant and serve it? Was it the next day?

    Thanks:)

    BOP

  • Thanks:) I generally try and start decorating my cakes 2 days before the event to give me enough time.

  • This is a beautiful cake!!! I was asked to do a Lightning McQueen cake for next month... I hope it turns out as wonderful as yours!!!

  • Thanks for your kind comment :) I'd love to see pics of your cake (keep me posted)- i'm sure you'll do a great job.

  • Thanks. A sugarcraft gun is also known as an extruder, and is a small tool that squeezes small amounts of fondant icing through a disc which has holes in it to create different shapes eg a very thin string of icing. There are 16 discs with different pattterns. I bought it from a cake decorating store over here in Australia, but you can buy it from stores in the US and also online.

  • Or really an extruder is also known as a sugarcraft gun (nevery heard of that term--sounds like you bought it from SugarCraft?)

  • The name on the packaging was Sugarcraft Gun and I bought it from a cake decorating shop in Australia. I haven't heard of SugarCraft.

  • I think it's perfect

  • wow amazing !! masha2allah .. god bless you ..

its sooo cute !! good job!!

happy birthday to ur little boy !!

my son's birthday is on the 5th of feb, he loves the cars movie ..

do we get the red paste red from the store or we color the white one .. and how do we color it red ..??

many thanx for sharing this cheerful vedio :)))

  • Thank you! I bought the red sugarpaste (also known as fondant). I think it would take very long to colour white fondant red, and it might end up looking more pink. You would need a lot of red colouring, but make sure it is gel or paste colouring, and not liquid colouring or the fondant will end up too wet. Good luck - I'd love to see a video of the cake. Happy birthday to your son!

  • wow good job.

    whats fondant though?

  • Thanks for your comment. Fondant is a soft icing that can be coloured and rolled out or moulded into shapes/figures. It is often used on wedding cakes to give that smooth finish look. Its main ingredient is icing sugar and it can be store bought or home-made.

  • A very nice looking cake! Well done!

  • WOW! This is amazing. How long did it take from start to finish? x

  • Thanks. It took me 7 hours (not including baking the actual cake). In more experienced hands, I'm sure it wouldn't take that long. I have my hubby to thank for helping to look after our 2 boys while I made it :)

  • this is an AMAZING cake!!! much much better than the one I made. I must say, your sculpting skills are awesome!

  • Thanks :) I still think your cake was fabulous! Again I say, your cakes are such an inspiration. My mum and dad independently tried to pick this cake up without realising it was the cake, so I think it turned out quite realistic in the end!

  • I think it turned out INCREDIBLE! Great job! It looks flawless from where I sit. :) Very, very nice. Happy birthday to your little boy! :)

  • Thanks :) We were successful in keeping all the kids' hands away from the cake, but apparently the cake looked so real, that my mum and dad independently tried to pick it up without realising it was the cake. Imagine my horror when there was almost a chunk taken off the front corner, way before cake cutting time! Managed to patch it up a bit, and we faced that side away from the cameras at cake time!
