  • i don't hire disabled people because, thanks to the ada, they are a walking/wheeling lawsuit. thank the gov't for the fact that many business owners feel the same way.

  • These "acts" are crap if there are no attorneys to enforce the laws. Someone born retarded needs help from birth. What is a rule? What are men that program and rape retardeds. They are droves of gay men raping retards. Who can afford an attorney with a penny? Life for a medicare advantage plan? Why did we work and pay taxes? To retire sick? Taking children away and torturung them and thier moms for being BORN WONDERFUL? IT IS A COGNITIVE AND SENSORY DISSABILTY.

  • If.....i live in nevada with breathing difficulites because of mcs chem. Sensitivities and retardation. People refuse to even open a door so i can breathe. Community ctr on cambridge in lv nv. Walmart on trop. Some dys they will even spray windex in the air to sicken me.

  • You should start by stopping the stigmatization of those with so-called mental illnesses. Labeling people "PERMANENTLY and TOTALLY DISABLED" doesn't exactly make someone feel like they have a chance of anything changing for the better. Why don't you just tattoo "LOSER" on our arms. Ever try getting a job with a tattoo that says "LOSER" on your arm? Try it someday and see if you can get a decent job with any resemblance of dignity. Stop shuffling papers...just for a few minutes.

  • can i get an accomodation for being white and being a u.s citizen?

  • @anglekan Sure, if you have a disability!

  • Do you have accommodations for dim lightbulbs? :D

  • I am not the brightest bulb around here, wants accommodation. :D

  • I live with my mom and dad though and they help me when I don't know or need help and assistance (because I am sometimes not smart).

  • Ah, she said psychiatric disabilities. That is more of the kind of disability I have. I have been from one end of mental health to the next.

  • They ask me why can't I have a bright brain? How come I don't talk? I have mental disabilities. I think he said Autism and Asperger's Syndrome, so I want special education.

  • All of my disabilities are brain related. I have confusion, memory loss, don't always understand things, sometimes can't figure things out or take care of myself very well.

  • It seems though that people either don't know that it is illegal or if they know that they don't care and my parents form a lawsuit.

  • So I don't always understand things and stuff like that. I have been trying to get special education.

  • Disability discrimination happens but it is against the law (has been for 20 years). I have a few brain disorders myself.

  • Hey All,

Happy 20th Anniversary of the signing of the ADA!!! In honor of this momentous occasion I have edited together a short video about that amazing day 20 years ago. You can find it on youtube under the name "The Americans with Disabilities Act Signing Ceremony - July 26, 1990." It features some very important disability rights activists & politicians who played an essential role in the passage of the bill, as well as archival footage from that day.

I hope you enjoy & happy anniversary!

  • This is gay.

  • nice to hear exactlly how the WH is helping people with disabilities and not just talking about it.
