Need a review that demos the actual process of restoring data when you DON'T have your phone (e.g., when you lose your phone). Not enough to simply say this can be done -- show it in the video! Also, when we backup online, where is that data being saved???
Co-sign at "konzern05" comment. I've flash my G1 on a regular basis with different ROMS, and my paid apps are linked to my account so I can continue to re-download them. Once you buy an app it's yours, unless you use a different Google account...
This is true if when you reset your phone you use the same Gmail account. But if you ever want to change your GMail account, you will lose everything... This application saved me in this case... Along with all the data that the market could not take care of
Unless things have changed, you lose your applications when you switch phones. If you are just changing roms, you should still have your apps in the "My Downloads" section.
T-Mobile told me that I would still have my apps when I changed phones, but both times I switched phones, my downloads were gone.
what i don't get about this app is that it offers the option to backup contacts. your contacts are synced with your google account. so its kinda pointless to offer a backup of contacts
i have jailbroken three mytouches, and two g1's and you keep your google account. When you do the initial set up, you can have the same account on more than one phone and it will sync. When I upgraded from a G1 to a Mytouch I kept my contacts in both phones. Even after I jailbroke them. Doing that has nothing to do with Google's servers.
same thing. it doesn't matter how you put it. A lot of the videos here say how to jailbreak a g1. you jailbreak it to get root access. You can put it in several different ways.
it's not open source that much anymore. Google is cracking down on developers. They sent a cease and desist order to Cyanogen. Look it up on XDA or on Digg. It's really a sad day for us all.
This has been resolved. Cyanogen is still building ROMS. It just takes an extra step now because Google didn't want him to distribute maps, etc. with it.
Oh yeah I guess, you're right. I don't see why you would want a new google account though, if you're just modding it, like you said in your original post

it's actually not because, what about if you change your Google account (when doing mods)

jailbreaking is for iphones
rooting is for android

jailbreaking is term used for iphones because the iphone is locked down tight and very closed source thus being called jailbreak
but with android its open source so its not locked down tight
anyways it doesnt matter lol
