  • Superb.

  • Superstarke Nummer !!! Seiner Zeit vorraus !!!

  • i very much doubt that "remind me to smile" would have been a good single choice, let alone no.1 (even though i like the telekon album very much as a whole).

  • Imagine what Gary could do given a kaoss pad in early 80s?

  • Über posting..top job..You just contributed towards giving my neighbours a heinously loud signal..Happy new year...thanks

  • C L A S S I C

  • BLIMEY!! HAD THIS 45 SINCE DAY 1...NEVAH SAW THE VID...BRAVO2U...

great to see a classic track on here

  • In a word..."Quality"..

    Outstanding good job...

  • the man is a genius - just ask the 'Mighty Boosh'

  • @garycee Why would they of banned this video just for him smashing TV's? Great upload btw...

  • "I'm holding a vacuum cleaner pipe... your argument is invalid."

  • @perhael Best way to win a YouTube argument is to throw that at them lol

  • really good lolxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • PROUD to be a fucking NUMANOID along with being a MURHREAK!!!...Gary Numan BLEW my MIND out into the STRATOSPHERE with two CRUCIAL albums: "Telekon" and "Pleasure Principle" ( I bought "Telekon" first )... The MASTER was WAY AHEAD of his time MUSICALLY, no question!!!...

  • QUALITY

  • I like how a lot of the 80s New Wave people dressed like they were cadets in some galactic military squad or something. Pleather jumpsuits for everybody!

  • you know... I never really heard anything else by him that I knew of..I was only a kid then but still. I actually like his music lol and this song is right the frig on!

  • "The thing is about Gary Numan is he's amazing.."

"Don't talk to me about him, i'm not interested."

"Let me just give you this one snippet, right. Not only is he a popstar, he's got a pilots licence. Imagine that?!"

    xD

    Boosh.<3

  • One of my most favourite GN's tracks!

  • Maybe Garys biggest moment.

  • awesome song takes me back peace dazza

  • so insanely amazing! no one else compares!

  • last minute of this song is just amazing

  • gary numan ??? but u must agree the music is mint

  • Cant wait to see the king of electronica tonight in Adelaide....

  • it's electro but it tastes like rock. i like it. i consider this man the father of techno, though i don't like that style .

  • @yourown99 Agreed, yourown99. Many people consider Numan to be the father of 80s electro, even though his early music doesn't resemble that music in the slightest. His influence on other artists may be more important than his music itself.

  • yep gotta agree with you there roger mate absolute classic

  • We are glass. Gary Numan is diamond

  • My favourite of his as well. Hypnotic, erotic and a great climax. Thanks Gary....

  • @headlock56 My favourite of his as well. Hypnotic, erotic and a great climax. Thanks Gary....

So you say. According to that it must have been the GHB, but you're thanking him, so it wasn't rape.

Anyway, I get a headache when I listen to Gary, do you have any idea why that is? I'm not trying to be condescending, despite the sex joke about Numan for the sake of my "hilarity"; rather, I am asking you because I am the opposite of hypnotized by it. Am I doing something wrong?

  • class .my lil sis rocks to this

  • Yup great song, to hell with the 6 dislikes.

  • This will always be Gary Numans best encore song its just awesome never get tired of listening to it.

  • my friend doesnt like music that 'computerised' music...LOL

  • i disagree with gary cee this is how i remember gary numan , my favorite single and video . it reached no.5 in the uk

  • Brilliant anthem for the 80's. I remember this when it first came out in may/june of 1980. Shame it never gets an airplay these days on radio 2 or other stations.

  • We glass

    kick some ass!

  • i still have this goose pimpler...im almost 60 yrs old. great rhythm

    section

  • could'nt have said it better. Always loved his music, hope he's still

    got it at the concert.

  • Way ahead of it's time...the guy is not pretentious...geniune legend.

  • Awesome Song...Love the electro beat. Feel young again !!.

  • Hypnotic song. Especially when im drunk!

  • i managed to do Gary Numan's song Are Friends Electric and please view my profile

  • This has always been my most liked Numan track too. A VERY close second is music for chameleons followed by are friends electric. All these send me into a slot in my life that I like to re-visit from time to time. Still amazing today as it was back then....

  • and i need the drumming sound and i need someone to do a guitar tutorial for this song so i can try to copy it

  • i want to do this song with my keyboard, but i only a know a few keys to press

  • This still sounds ahead of its time..

  • Numan was so beyond his time,he should have arrived mid 80's,he would have been more appreciated. As for me i totally enjoy his music till the end.I have all his albums on vinyl, and cherish them,as do my children.

  • Gary Numan what can i say the best music synth man around in the 80s this is a fantastic sound lyrics are brilliant then after this song came I Die You Die and things gor even better fantastic memories for me in the 80s well done mr numan .top man

    music man master of synths

  • He still has his mothers vacuum cleaner part in his hand lol,man i love this song.

  • Gary's music is just so addictive.

  • @guitardds i only knew his hit 'cars' but youtube showed me all his good music, i really love all his songs now

  • Brilliant then, brilliant now!!!

  • @telekon01 i agree brilliant as ever

  • How good was he? Awesome in he's day!!!

  • Awesome.. A Numan Classic.

  • I like the innocence and vulnerability of his early music videos and songs….I’m a big fan…but I can’t get into some of his more recent work…his recent stuff lacks the uniqueness and soul and spirit of his early work….I still love him though..

  • years of cold , solid, transparent existence , but as glass we do not cry.. great video , i sincerely feel the energy, and ive loved this song, thru countlss batteries. 4 myself that is..

  • Brilliant, just as good now as it was back when it was released.

  • La mia musica!!!!

  • He has such a gorgeous voice & a mesmerizing artist. Thnx.

  • 'we are glass' was the mark of someone ruling the world in 1980.he's so cool again.

  • hope he knows how much his music was awesome!! :)

  • Easy to see where Billy Idot got (or stole) his image from. But hey, I like both.

  • Anyone who is here looking at this video just knows. No need to talk too much is there??

  • I love the main synth in this, it always takes me back to my childhood.

  • I THINK I MUST OF PLAYED THIS ABOUT 10,000 TIMES NUMAN WAS THE ULTIMATE IN COOL. SAW HIM AT THE BRIGHTON DOME LAST YEAR AWSOME, LONG LIVE THE ARMY.

  • I love videos from the 80s (and late 70s) - no Photoshop and fake effects, no brainless chicks dancing with bling bling stuff, just pure inspiration, originality and new ideas ^_^ And I love the authentic feel of it!

  • dufter skønt af coke og 80'ere - yummy!

  • If we are glass - then were also recyclable - and that being the case - i would like

to be made into a thong - thats borrowed from Angelina Jolie -by Cameron Diaz

then given to Kate Beckinsale - hubba hubba

  • @MrJuicepatrol LMAO ..... YEAH ME TOO I WOULD LOVE THAT BUSH IN MY FACE ALL DAY .!!!

  • one of gary's best tracks - great tempo, great synths, great lyrics

  • Brilliant quality Garycee, thanks for taking the extra time. Also, *ticket purchased for Toronto on Oct 24*!! ^_^

  • Always loved his stuff

  • well done Garycee, very nicely mastered!,thanx for uploading....

  • Now this is so original, something that's sadly lacking in mainstream music

  • Gary Numan is an amazing musician

  • @Squab1972 I couldn't agree more with you there!!! :) :)

  • Lovley video - thanx for sharing.

    LIVE LONG AND PROSPER !!!

  • just brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • After 30 years, this is still my favorite Numan song. It has everything--near-hysteria, a healthy dose of paranoia, fire-breathing tempo, weird lyrics, and lots and lots and lots of synths. It just never gets old. "And now dreams are real, and dreams are all we need."

  • @srlucado You got it right dude. Some of the crap I see below just doesn't cut it. Numan's synth is and always will be the original. I'm a 68 vintage and when I hit my teens............well, what can I say??????????????????????

  • @srlucado Well put its always been one of my favorites. Great studio version and always sounds great live too.

  • @dwtime Yes, I remember hearing it live in Chicago at the Park West in 1982--the I, Assassin tour (really dating myself there); Gary played it as an encore, and it made my whole evening!

  • @srlucado Totally agree. A very under-rated Numan classic. This track is so much better than the 'classic' Numan tracks (Are Friends.. and Cars) IMHO.

  • @srlucado

man, that's one hell of a truncheon in his hand

  • @srlucado It's my fave Gary Numan song too!! I own all his albums, and wouldn't swap them for anything.

My second fave song is Cars.

You get a thumbs up from me as well! :)

  • @theseus27 Well, thanks! You made my day.

  • @srlucado Your most welcome my YT friend! :)

  • Actually, "I Die-You Die" was included on the US release of TELEKON, not "We Are Glass." It was the last track on side-1, replacing "Sleep by Windows" which was released as a B-side to the "I Die-You Die" single.

Unfortunately the single failed to chart, though the TELEKON album sold very well, and got lots of airplay on college radio stations. "Cars" was numan's only top-10 single in the US, and today he's still (falsely) referred to as a "one-hit-wonder" in the US.

  • @jasonsbrain2 Yeah America really screwed up BADLY on that one. Instead they picked up on REO Speedwagon HA HA HA HAAAAAAAA

  • @jrmetmoi No one said Americans were very bright.

  • Comment removed

  • @jrmetmoi REO Speedwagon is a classic 80s band, don't know why you'd act like they've got terrible music.

  • @LetzRock1 I don't have to act like it. The singer for REO's voice. Oy Gevalt! It's just not good.

  • @jasonsbrain2 Well he was a one hit wonder in the US, but not in the UK. You can be very popular in one country as a music artist and not as much in another.

  • His best

  • Saw the Pleasure Principal and Telekon tours in the midwest. Never seen ANYTHING like it since. Even by todays standards Numans songs are genius. His music changed me forever.

  • My ringtone! :-)

  • agreed !!! lol

  • buy this record " fresh" in a nederland music shop in 1980 !!!

  • I saw him in a pub for 50p in 1978. He asked me if I wanted to roady for his band and I said no!! What a moron I was and what a trip that would have been ??

  • great job gary c from one of your best mates - svenny xxxxx

  • amazing

  • been listening to gary numan since i can remember, from the father, im 18 now, must be the only artist ive not stopped listening to, ive also seen him twice in concert, and yes they were the best concerts ive been too, still wish i couldve lived in the 80's =/

  • The change of direction from 3:43 onwards is pure genius, but very typical of Numan!

  • 7 years bad luck

  • With mirrors not glass or TV sets

  • Fantastica!

  • cool cool cool

  • still cool music even today from a amazing era the 80s

  • Assi, Yeah he was certainly influenced by Foxx, but what I am saying is that he marketed it better than faxx and possibly quicker, IE...you saw Numan on top of the pops in the 70's most weeks and Foxx about twice ever as a solo artist?...both great though, a great era. Thanks for the reply

  • Foxx ! not Faxx

    I

    I

    I

    V

  • Of course he marketed himself better, he was and is better, if John Foxx's music was so good where is he? Although it was Numans fans that marketed him, the press, radio and TV hated him and slated him at every opportunity. That said Underpass was a great record.

  • @telekon01 - If He was so Good, where is he?...He still tours with Ultravox, Tours with his Electronic Music exhibitions and is a top DJ still doing the circuit to sell out audiences.

  • FANTASTIC. Still one of numans best songs. Way ahead of his time. CLASSIC FOREVER.

  • still a fantastic tune to me...

adore this artist ....he was my teenage rock idol

    all the best

    nmh

  • You mean John Foxx, original singer of Ultravox .

check out My Sex + Burning Car

  • great artist, but it has been said he stole his music style from an artist called John Fox and publicised himself before Fox had a chance...cut throat industry or what?

  • Darn straight he is

  • He is a musical genious light years from where we are now.

  • indeed, wayyy ahead of his time

  • gary numan ist extremly talented and he has so much charisma.

  • english musical talent at its very best, this music will be played for years to come

  • This track Rocks more than Cars!!!! He should have been recognized for more than that song! Well i certainly recognize him for more! Rock on Gary!!!!

  • @godstar69 Totally agree with you ! this rocks helluva lot more than Cars!

  • his music was totally awsome and i received the pleasure principle as a gift for christmas ,1979

  • ...last time i saw this was on TBS's "Night Tracks"...or was that Trax?

  • a really great song. way ahead of his time , by about a millenium or two !

  • I agree. I still don't see why Gary Numan didn't really have any big hits in the US besides "Cars". His music is incredible.

  • I saw Gary Numan in San Diego in the early 80's! I read that his early tour was very expensive and he didn't profit much from it.

  • This is one of my favourite songs by Gary Numan, and I remember hearing this for the first time when it was released in 1980 and I never tire of it.

Although the whole song is cool, the best bit I like is from 3:40 onwards......amazing!!

  • I totally agree with you there mate!!

So,I have just given you a thumbs up rating.

From an avid fan of Gary numan who also has most of his albums, plus quite a number of singles too.

    :)

  • At the risk of sounding common, Herr Numan is the dogs biscuits, is he not?

  • My favourite Numan track. I went with my wife to see him in Sheffield but was not impressed as it was all a bit gloomy, to many guitars and "conventional drums" not enough Moogs and Linn machines for us, Try Yazoo and human League live, absolutely brilliant.

  • cyber, you must appreciate that the numan 'we are glass' has moved on considerably. Moogs are no more (shame though I own two).

  • LOL, You went to see Numan for a bouncy pop-tastic party time then did you? What did you expect, it's Numan for christsake........

  • Saw him live twice,, brilliant then,, brilliant now

  • Amazing...................

  • Music videos suck these days because they don't have lasers in them.

  • @BarefootBeggar haha.. So true!

  • @BarefootBeggar tottaly

  • @BarefootBeggar

if i could like your comment a million times i would.

  • i love this song--aaaaamazzzing

  • I'm in love with this Video and SONG

GARY NUMAN- GODFATHER OF SYNTH MUSIC!

  • @MacedonKing u probs mean kraftwerk dude

  • @davethecrane I find Kraftwerk pioneers of electro foundation . Gary's on Synth-New wave thing .. it's about production , I don't find this electro , no? lol :)

Tell me what is Kraftwerk dave? :P

  • @MacedonKing If you cant hear the Mensch Machine in this album...well then sir, no one can help you.

  • @Kraftysot what's your point dude?

Is this how you define music, by listening and limiting yourself to one track Mensch Machine? Don't bother fella

  • @MacedonKing Actually Numan and bowie took much of their influence from KRAFTWERK who anyone will tell you are THE GODFATHERS OF SYNTH

  • @lottaluck Numan has said Ultravox was his biggest influence

and how about silver apples- they were doing electronic music before kraftwerk even existed

  • @paintedship I do love Silver Apples though. 'You and I' are the best. How someone hasn't ripped that song off yet is beyond me totally.

  • quality ;-D cheers
