Dime expressed himself through heavey riffs and solos while Tom likes to groove with funky riffs and hip hop sounds. It's all a matter of taste. And yes, Tom's playing goes against traditional playing but that doesn't meen one player is better than the other. To each his own...

@PMLRAMRT95 Agreed he was the shit. Tom CAN play without pedals. He does use Marshalls and EMG's. He's not any less of a player because he uses his pedals differently. He doesn't even use alot of pedals anyway he uses like 5 or 6. He just took the time to learn how manipulate them. And YES, Tom Morello can shred. He just chooses not to cause there isn't a need for it with the kind of music he plays. In other words, Tom doesn't need his pedals to be good.

@joeshmoa7x Backing you up on this -- if you want a little "pre-effect" Morello, check out a little album called "Something Bitchin' This Way Comes" by Lock Up...may I suggest the songs "24 Hour Man" and "Maniac" solos. The album you can hear him experimenting with toggle and whammy, but other than that it's pure '80s chops!

You can also get a pretty unique sound by allowing any infrared (line of sight) remote control near your pickups. Figured this out while playing and I had to turn my stereo down quick to answer the phone and viola, instant effect. Id like to try it with some sort of delay/flange effect. Try it yourselves everyone
