@JASON060972 those sound like the usual inflated figures given by american manufacturers even the numbers I mentioned above, and judging by the previous model before this one, had a 5.7L OHV V8 that developed 175HP, and I highly doubt in a few years time GM could've gained those figures from one of their production models when even today it's a challenge for them for those numbers from their engines, despite all the displacement they have to play with

The 88-95 TBI 350 made 210 hp, 310ft/lbs, the 96-98.5 Vortec 350 made 255hp and 320 ft/lbs and the 5.3 vortec from 99-present has made anywhere from 270hp-315 hp and 325-340 ft/lbs of torque.
@mike4x4chevy48 im talking about old 350s outer bolt valve cover truck motors hence early to mid 80's therefore i am correct about my numbers and my 350 made about 155hp to the ground with 300k miles on it and headers air gap manifold and 600 cfm edelbrock thats a 72 4 bolt main block with really low compression bout 2 months before it lost all compression and i had to rebuild

@mike4x4chevy48 was originaly supposed to be pretty wild forged bottom end with a a blower but then a bunch of us got laid off of work so my budget for it ended and ended up with just enough for a cast bottom end 305 heads that i had laying around to bumb the compression up enough for the cam that was put in and reused the intake and everything wish i still had the build sheet but it sounds good and now im saving up for another motor build i had a 3rd gen camaro with a bone stock 1980 c30 454

Although right now they're still a faily new motor so they're likely wouldn't be many sitting in a wreckage yard. Yeah id stick to the camaro/Vortec BB project for now. That'll be an awsome car and plus it'll be unsual because most people that put BB's in Camaros are drag racing them!

@SuBN01z3RaT its a legal swap in arizona but camaros with v8's came with air injection "smog pump" systems so they have to have it for emissions no matter what v8 you put in unlese you went up to phoenix with the car if you did an ls swap and had them inspect it and give you a waiver saying you dont need one i should have kept the car the next job i got was at an inspection station and i could have probably got it through just for working there but the next year if i wasnt there it would need to

The 3800 V6 produced 200 HP. An LQ9 swap is a 6.0 truck engine with the F body stuff bolted to it. Its more or less a bigger displacement STEEL LS1. @enigmaPL No Jason is right. The LQ9 is the stock motor found in 01-06 Escalades, the later GMC Denalis', and Chevy SS trucks. The regular (LQ4) 6.0 found in regular 3/4 tons and such had 300 hp and 365 ft/lbs.

@mike4x4chevy48 im talking about old 350s outer bolt valve cover truck motors hence early to mid 80's therefore i am correct about my numbers and my 350 made about 155hp to the ground with 300k miles on it and headers air gap manifold and 600 cfm edelbrock thats a 72 4 bolt main block with really low compression bout 2 months before it lost all compression and i had to rebuild

@mike4x4chevy48 was originaly supposed to be pretty wild forged bottom end with a a blower but then a bunch of us got laid off of work so my budget for it ended and ended up with just enough for a cast bottom end 305 heads that i had laying around to bumb the compression up enough for the cam that was put in and reused the intake and everything wish i still had the build sheet but it sounds good and now im saving up for another motor build i had a 3rd gen camaro with a bone stock 1980 c30 454

Theres alot of companies that make carb conversion kits for LS motors too that make dealing with them a little less scary..... Although a 5.3 or 6.0 still wouldn't put out the mean torque that BBC would! Nonetheless, that project sounds like alot of fun and i wish you luck on it. @SuBN01z3RaT Thats a great idea; that sucker would move too. Ive watched a few videos of 88-98 GM trucks with a nicely built 6.0Ls in them and they move along awsome; a LQ9 would be even better. Although right now they're still a faily new motor so they're likely wouldn't be many sitting in a wreckage yard. Yeah id stick to the camaro/Vortec BB project for now. That'll be an awsome car and plus it'll be unsual because most people that put BB's in Camaros are drag racing them!

@mike4x4chevy48 yup and that is the second reason i sold the car i lived in arizona when i had it and it wouldnt pass inspections with that motor without a set of stock big block manifolds that had the setup for the air injection system and my truck that i pulled the motor out of didnt have an air injection system and i didnt want to go out and pay for one when i was already hurting for money but where i live now there is no emissions so i can do that swap without any of the smog issues

@SuBN01z3RaT its a legal swap in arizona but camaros with v8's came with air injection "smog pump" systems so they have to have it for emissions no matter what v8 you put in unlese you went up to phoenix with the car if you did an ls swap and had them inspect it and give you a waiver saying you dont need one i should have kept the car the next job i got was at an inspection station and i could have probably got it through just for working there but the next year if i wasnt there it would need to

@enigmaPL You are retarded, the "previous" model "developed" 285-305HP from its LT1 "5.7L OHV V8" the model before that made 230-245HP, 98-02 LS1's are rated at 305-325HP I don't know where you got the figure of "175HP" from but you were way off, and seeing how the one in this video isn't stock, you were way WAY off. BTW, STOCK LS1 F-Bodies have been known to dip in the 12's in the 1/4 mile...STOCK, more like under rated and not inflated. You clearly have no clue what you are talking about.

@enigmaPL Uh excuse me bro the LS1 in 1998 poduced 325 HP HP and 335 in later model till 2002 and was underated so as not to torque off the Corvette crowd. 175 HP is less than the v6 models put out. The 3800 V6 produced 200 HP. An LQ9 swap is a 6.0 truck engine with the F body stuff bolted to it. Its more or less a bigger displacement STEEL LS1. The bird in the video is putting down Tire roasting power! 175 HP?

@enigmaPL No Jason is right. The LQ9 is the stock motor found in 01-06 Escalades, the later GMC Denalis', and Chevy SS trucks. The regular (LQ4) 6.0 found in regular 3/4 tons and such had 300 hp and 365 ft/lbs.
