Many thanks indeed for the compliment. But, You're kidding about the 350z right? You're comparing a flat 6 engine to a Nissan 60 degree V6 engine. thats like comparing apples and oranges man... Flat configuration engines on the whole sound completely different to anything else. If at all V8s sound similar, depending on exhaust config'.

No they don't. It's all in the firing order and piping that makes the tone. Compair a GM 350 to a Ford 351. Apples to apples but totally different tone.

Its unclear what you are saying. Are you agreeing that a Nissan V6 and a Porsche/Subaru H6 sound different in the flesh or are you disagreeing with my comment that H6 engines on the whole sound different to most other engines, indeed because of their unique firing order. They share similar harmonics to V8s but almost identical balance characteristics to I6 engines. Also, I did qualify my comment by noting the dependance this has on exhaust config'. So please clarify/explain your context here.

@zadoks It's the combination of the firing order and the length and size of the exhaust plumbing. Keep the pulses in order and it makes a nice tone. Screw them all up and it sounds like a misfire because one or more of the pulses isn't in time. The size and shape of the plumbing effects air speed volume velocity scavenging and tone. The H6 has the same style manifolds as H4 but the firing order alternates between banks. The H6 is the ONLY thing Subaru made that I'd put in some other vehicle.

With the right ECU mods (Halltech interceptor) and intake and exhaust mods 150Kw at the wheels is easily achievable. On our car we achieved close to 170Kw ATW in the right weather even more. Which, is what you see in the video above. This was pushing the N/A ECU program to it limits and caused the engine check light to come on alot ;-) I'd recommend that 150KW ATW is a safe and achievable target for N/A.

Highly unlikely without some kind of forced induction I'm afraid. It already runs fairly high CP - Porsche 911s run slightly higher CP but still never achieve 300Kw without turbocharging. We achieved a max of roughly 220Kw (ATC) with heavy N/A tuning and stock internals. C'mon mate join the dark side - go for forced induction! - You'll never look back ;-)

As for the ATW to ATF conversions it seems the more people I speak to about it the more it becomes a matter of opinion and experience. (Gearing is significant too). You may actually be right, but there's only one way to tell and thats to take it out and check it ATF which we may end up doing with the current turbocharging. Will post the dyno charts up with the next video. BTW I've seen your car - its clear you have a weight advantage, nice work, keep it up. Do you live in Sydney? We should meet.

Hmmm it just occured to me that you may not be aware this car has the STI 6 speed gearbox which confers it a tangeable advantage on the 4 wheel dyno compared to models fitted with any other gearbox. The ATW figures you refer to sound very much like those obtained using some of the other boxes out there. My apologies for the confusion.

Besides which you are missing the point of this video - it was just to show the exhaust note before it gets muffled from turbo-charging.

Will do! I am glad you like them. There is a tunnel video with great sound effects coming soon. Pre-turbo she pumps out approximately 360Kws at the flywheel (remember thats all NATURAL) - you can half that because of the 'symmetrical AWD' system to give you the figure at the wheels - post turrbocharging at the wheels anywhere from an almost safe and very fast 250Kws at all fours to a seriously unsafe WELL OVER 350+ at all fours depending on turbo pressures.
