  • Obviously an MD-80: split non-slot flaps, no "canoe" flap guides, but they're still great planes. Landed on what was then 16R, now 16C. Every homecoming to Seattle is a treat, regardless of day, night, sun, rain, snow, anything. I'd rather not be on an Airbus, personally, but still...love seeing Seattle glide by on final. Thanks for sharing!

  • Oh, forgot to say: I took Alaska PHX-SEA in October, 2003, saw and met Rick Yune at the PHX terminal. For those who don't know, he played baddie Johnny Tran on the first "The Fast & The Furious". He's a real genuine guy, very intelligent, respectable, made it a great flight.

  • Another great video. Nothing beats a foggy approach to seattle! I really want to go back there. I will eventually work for boeing and i always like "coming home"

  • @nwaairlinkazo thanks for commenting:-) this and my Southwest video are the most watched and commented.

  • Alaska Airlines is decent...just as long as their maintenance workers lubricate the equipment correctly!!!!!!!

RIP Alaska Flight 261. Those pilots fought valiantly.

  • i flew alaska airlines from orlando to seattle man they have great service we rented the dig-e-player and got some snack pack things =). 5* good vid.

if you dont mind chencking mine out i would like that.

  • haven't flown Alaska across the country yet... I want to and I can't wait until I have the chance

  • well hen you do it will be a great experiance when we were flying over wyoming they had art they did in their crops from the tractors.

and you get to see so many mountains.

  • MSP-SEA SEA-MSP

  • OMG>>>>>the 737-800 was the coolest thing ever.......I officially now love alaska airlines

  • from what point-to-point did you fly on the aircraft?

  • yeah the FAs didn't sit down till we were over Boeing field... until that point they were up talking with the passengers.

  • So what is the story on filming take-offs and landings? Is it permitted? I've noticed when they announce "all electronic devices must be shut off," they never mention "video cameras" specifically. I have always wanted to shoot a take-off, but don't want to get in trouble. People take digital (still) photos and those could be concidered an "electronic device" since many of them shoot video too!

  • if it transmits, then you can use it, for example a cell phone, laptop computer with wireless capabilities (they tell you make sure it's off) stuff like that. A digital camera doesn't transmit so it's okay, though some FA would probably say something so most people will hide the camera... If you check the FCC or TSA reports they tell EXACTLY what can be used at ALL times of a flight.

  • TYPO in first sentence... CAN'T USE IT...

  • Got it, Thanks! Next time I fly, i'll give it a shot.

  • ill be on a 737-800 alaska airlines in like 10 days....im so excited, never been on one.......is alaska airlines a good airline?

  • well if you notice from my videos, I've flown more than once on Alaska Airlines... I LOVE THE AIRLINE!!! I hope to work for them someday as a pilot. you won't be disappointed. I have no yet been able to fly on the -800 yet though I've been on everything else with Alaska.

  • hey do u think that airbus fleets are better than boeing

  • Boeing is better than airbus in my opinion. I like the conventional yoke to fly an airplane not a joy stick. Also I just like the Boeing look rather than the airbus look. My favorite a/c is the 737-800.

  • the alaska airlines md80 is now gone from their fleet

  • and now they have the youngest fleet of aircrafts in the industry. ALL Boeing 737s. The -800 is my favorite followed by the -900,-700,-400 and so on...

  • was the coach cabin leather

  • The MD-80 is a reliable aircraft. Just certain things have happened with this aircraft that made the media and people all of a sudden feel that the MD-80 is an unsafe aircraft. People forget that the Boeing 737 had some issues awhile back with the rudder making the aircraft less maneuverable and caused some problems with the pilots, which was very unsafe but most of the general public didn't receive that information

  • I Agree, Alaska Flight 261 got everyone all crazy but that was Alaska Airlines' fault for cutting corneres in maintaining their planes in the early 00's

  • very true and because of that the FAA has gotten more strenuous about their rules and regulations pertaining to aircraft operation. Though over the past year they've gone a little overboard because of mistakes they made with Southwest Airlines that had a major effect on American Airlines (AA flew safe airplanes) though the media turned the whole thing into a circus making people think that airplanes weren't safe, it's the small details that weren't reported.

  • i dont like swa there cheap but there seats are just smashed next to eachother and alaska air you can get a 350.00 round trip ticket on alaska air for this route they fly this route frequently

  • PHX-SEA? well if you check closely you can get a ticket for about $188.00 round trip, I get that rate almost all the time with AS. I make this trip several times a year on Alaska Airlines

  • oo that was a nice landing.. brilliant! I actually like Alaska second next to SWA but still excellent landing! good video

  • yea, in weather like that i would use the auto land ( ILS--Instrument Landing System) and that was a nice awesome landing oh and ppl there are 3 types of landing systems Cat 1 which brings u 300 ft above ground cat 2brings you 200 ft above ground and cat 3 which lands you completely on the ground safely ^_^ ask me questions about these things

  • nice video

  • You mean the loud bang on 6:30 of the video?

  • yep! I was sitting next to it.

  • Spooky.

  • nice video.

  • Wow, he greased that landing.

  • funny thing I found out afterwards, I went up to the cockpit and chatted with the flight attendants and the pilots and I found out that in weather conditions like this pilots should use the auto-land feature on the aircraft. So really it was a computer that landing the aircraft not the pilots:-/

  • Nice approach, and pretty much down to minimums too!

  • there were a couple things that happened during this descent into the airport, the flight attendants were making jokes in the background and shortly after we landed a drink cart slipped out from its storage spot so that's what that loud bang was right after landing while we were slowing down.

  • I enjoyed watching this video. Very nice. Thanks for uploading.
