The U.S. could easily launch precision air strikes from their carriers, launch guided missiles from cruisers and cruise missiles from their submarines. The technology and power projection capability of America is vastly superior to anyone. They could cripple Iran easily, they don't have to invade and occupy.

The U.S. could easily launch precision air strikes from their carriers, launch guided missiles from cruisers and cruise missiles from their submarines. The technology and power projection capability of America is vastly superior to anyone. They could cripple Iran easily, they don't have to invade and occupy.

I don't see the point of this argument. I remind you that Iran was fighting Iraq for seven years and was unable to beat them; the United States beat them in a matter of days. I am against war, I think that negotiation and diplomacy is the way to go. But let's not deny the simple truth: if America decided to attack Iran, they would defeat the current regime and remove them from power. Just like in Iraq.

You forget that Iraq was backed by the US and several other countries during that war, including supplying Saddam's military with intelligence about Iran's capabilities. Iran on the other hand, received NO HELP from other nations, and yet, they fought Iraq to a stand still even then. Today, Iran is FAR MORE ADVANCED militarily that it was before, and has had years to prepare and study our capabilities. It would be a very different scenario if we attacked Iran I assure you. Iran is NOT Iraq!

I guess they have to talk the talk since they can't walk the walk. Iran has very limited command and control capabilities and they should look at ODS in 1991 and not OEF and OIF and remember Operation Praying Mantis in 1988 if they want to know what to expect.
