its real fun for the maintence crew when they run a oxegyen bottle through it blew the shaker under the mill off the springs blew five impact rollers out and blew the sides off the 6ft half way up it long night needless to say

@MasterHustler thats funny you say that cause we recycle Pine Bluff Arsenol stuff like torpedo holders and what nots just scraps n e ways they brought us a van in and as it was going down the slide shoot the doors came open.the operator saw inside that it was full of cluster bombs. they called everyone out national guard, leo's, fire and rescue and the bomb squad.. after they checked them out (hours of down time) they turned out to be practice bombs. but yeah that or dynamite would wipe us out.
@jwt211 i currently work on a 80 inch mill. a long time ago dureing some labor disputes there were people trying to put us out of business. They would meet the truckers on the highways and fill the cars in the truck with dynomite. We had a explosion of course and blew the grates, and under mill shaker out from underneath the shredder. broke all the bolts holding the top down and made the top grate shift. it was a mess. luckily no injuries though.
@gbarrigar holy shit lmao! yea dynomite isnt a joke when it hits that mill.we had one like that it had shifted everythig out of place too. we also had oxygen and butane bottle do hella damage to it. our old down stream had fans on the outake above the first tranfer. they were blown about 400 yards away from where they were.
yes they do. we shredded an oxygen or an accetalynne bottle coulndt tell after the fact but just say the least we were down for a couple of days making repairs
It's not about how much the shredder will run,,,,,,It's about how much you run the shredder. Our Newell 108 inch mill is on 2 ,1200 horse Waukasha's, V12 twin turbo's,,OLD SCHOOL shit. It's a Motor heads dream. We rock out 8000 ton months with a 10 hour 5 day a week production shift. Sometimes maintanance runs it for 2 hours and hands it off. The way of the Shred is the ONLY way. Happy Shredding!
the shredder i work at was not cheap to build it is owned by Dick Behr and was over 10 million dollars it is a medium shredder it can handle cars, trucks, even busses, butwill not shred rail road rail, steel beams over a inch thick, but they do make mega shredders wich I have not seen on here yet. these are mopnsters with hammers starting at 500 pounds each and up
the first wheel is called a double feed roller it has two hydralic pistons for up and down they use this to feed the right amount of material in to much you will plug up to less and your total amount of net tons is not enough you need to put out tons of shred to make your montly orders that are shipped to the steel mills
i work at a shredder in iowa are hamers start at 250 two 9 rows and the eight rows are at 180 and above with cyclone and pickers to get anything left over plus non ferrous recovery belt on a good day we run 500 cars plus tin if all goes well a 700 to 1000 ton day unless we plug up winter makes it hard for the cylone to pick up all the mud and debree
because the spinning hammers create a lot of heat while they're pulverizing the scrap into pieces. it's got 40 or so 400lb hammers that swing mounted on a spinning drum. They literally beat the car into pieces.
basically, yeah.... they're unreal... this is a great view, the whole tower shakes, you can feel the hammers hitting the big stuff, engine blocks, differentials... pure evil !!

If a propane tank packs a punch, then you can only imagine if someone dropped a bunker buster bomb on this operation....
