  • Bullets don't push people around upon impact any harder than they leave the gun.

  • i been watch this movie several times and it's very nice like real scene

  • OH!!! HE GOT SLAPPED!!!

  • ★★★★★

  • Really best shooting scene ..

  • 2:12 is epic

  • Fine movie.

  • i love this movie.

  • the rapport is what makes this movie so real to me. It doesn't have that "boom" sounds that most movies have. These guns sound like guns. Plus, I have to give credit to Kostner. Sometimes, he can be so believable... I think this movie is one of his best.

  • big fucking guns !

  • kevin costner lightning-raped that man's soul with lead and fire

  • 2:32

This, right here, is great cinematography. Hard to explain why this shot is so perfect.

  • @unluckymonkeyboy I agree SO much. Then he.. like, punches the shit out of the man with his revolvers. ^.^

  • 2:32 GANGSTER!!!

  • What a great actor is this Robert Duvall!

Just look at the expression on his face on 2.43 which expresses his astonishment of discovering the other very evilly bad side of the personality of his friend,as if saying ,"All this evil in you ?"

  • 0:18 that horse has a raging boner. I mean that thing is huge.

  • @Lassannn lmao the shootout must have got him excited

  • 2:00 what the fuck is that guy really gonna do?! hes got all the townspeople armed chasing him into a corner.. good luck buddy!!

  • I love how Sue comes out at 3:50 and starts lecturing all of them like they're little boys. "Stop! Stop it! Stop it right now!"

  • Nothing compares to the bank robbery shootout in Heat

  • @doacarnage Very true. This one is great but Heat has the #1 shoot out scene of all time. No exceptions.

  • Costner and duval were great. Very few action scenes though.

  • awesome

  • haha brilliant. Watched this movie last night for the first time. As much as the chick Sue is in idiot, I think the best bit of this shootout if the part where Costner saves her from the dude. That is no fear shooting right there. No modern day rifle with a sight 500m away, this is in your face, shooting the guy right next to her. Great stuff, and good angle with the camera too.

  • Sue is a b!tch.

  • Evil men, dean men. En nomine Patri, et fili, et spiritas sancti, amen.

  • That woman Costner saved has got to be one of the dimmest, most arrogant, most ungrateful and unbelievably thick-headed individuals, male or female, to be portrayed in cinema. She walks outside DURING A GUNFIGHT, gets herself taken hostage, and then when Costner rescues her and blasts her captor to Hell, she looks at him like he's some sort of monster. Oh, but it doesn't stop there! She then approaches armed men with a young boy hostage, risking his life, yells at them and even slaps one! Idiot!

  • 2:39 is one of the most badass things I have EVER seen in cinema.

  • the gunshots and effects are realistic and loud but not over done. like most hollywood shootouts.

  • finally a no bull shit, realistic movie where the character doesnt miss every friggin shot and take a half an hour to kill the bad guy. we need more of this kind of movie, i like my shootem ups

  • I love the way this shootout was shot, it gave us a more realistic view of the west.

  • Look like a good argument for gun control

  • Fuck, you show one gun battle scene on youtube and all the gun-nuts come right out of the wood work, pedantically arguing over the merits of this gun over that gun, or range, accuracy or some other bullshit. Get a new fucking hobby! Preferably something that doesn't involve killing things. There are plenty of other ways to compensate for a small penis then by shooting off a gun.

  • @hschan4

    ... Wow.

Point of interest, what concern is it what someone chooses to do or not do with their legal rights?

  • Don't give me that second amendment bullshit. Just take up pottery or something.

  • Alright... Simple question.

What if I don't want to?

  • We'll take up pottery if you take up being a mime. Better yet, be a monk so we don't have to worry about you talking or reproducing!

  • @comedian618

    Who is "we"? The NRA?

  • What's your problem? I mean I didn't see the whole arguing bit but no reason to freak out like that. Just go away if your going to something negative you pesamistic bastard.

  • Grace is probably twice my age and I would go klingon on that ass....

  • Great line. Kill them not murder them!

  • 2:35 mass ownage. :D

One of the best Westerns ever made. The book is equally awesome.

  • Agreed. This is Costner's best job of actually becoming the character he's portraying. It was like watching someone other than Costner, if that makes sense. Absolutely love the chemistry between Duvall and Costner.

  • AGREED

  • Indeed. Watched it for the first time last night in the we hours of the morning. The end was epic. Generally don't like costner, but this is the exception. Very under rated movie.

  • love the way kostner leans in with that last shot at 2 39 he really meant that shit!

  • This segment probably holds the record for the most horse cock ever shown in a western. Look in the background from the 20 to 38 second marks.

    "Needs more horse cock."

  • I like this kind of justice. Takes only an afternoon and a handful of bullets instead of years and shit loads of money for the opinions of overpaid half-wits in suits. But then again, that's just me.

  • 2:36 Costner turns him into Swiss Cheese

  • that is a disgraceful accent.

  • i hope your not talking about the irish one. because he is irish

  • they shoulda had carl from slingblade playing the kid emmmgh..YOU OUGHT NOTTA KILLED MY FRIEND HE COULDA LIVED HE COULDA HAD FUN SOMETIME

  • best ending ever

  • The restaurant scene is my favorite. Poole knew then what the deal was.

  • 4:05 Marshall Poole's a coward

  • Sue is a very brave woman :)

  • The thing that makes this move so great is the realism. unless they are at point blank barely anyone hits anything, (unless they are specially skilled)

  • Too true, most people don't realize just how inaccurate an old black powder revolver can be.

  • These are not black powder revolvers, they are Colt Single Action Army revolvers in .45 Colt (Long Colt). SAAs are tack drivers and can outshoot just about any modern semiautomatic handgun.

  • Except maybe a tuned 1911, a SIG P210 or a Luger. But very accurate as you state.

  • It's still pretty close... I think it validates my point about how accurate SAA (and revolvers in general) tend to be when we have to cherry pick semi-autos that are almost as accurate, you know? The Mark 23 is a fantastically accurate semiauto, capable of putting sub 1.5" groups up @ a little over 25 yards. Contrasted with that... there are a ton of revolvers that put up 1.5" groups @ 100 yards.

  • Thats true, but I wouldn't mind a SIG P210for accuracy. It is said it is the most accurate 9mm pistol ever meant to be fielded to troops ever made. Another advantage of revolvers is power, except for the Desert Eagle, the Automag and the Wildey, which are more in common to rifles with the rotating bolt and gas operation used in all three, Revolvers can shoot more powerful rounds than most semi autos.

  • You nailed it, and I think what people forget is that the P210 is that accurate AND it's a service pistol.

  • only other pistol like it that comes close to that accuracy is the CZ-75, which shares some simularities, such as the guide rails inside the frame and the tolerances.

  • Gonna have to disagree with the CZ75 being as tack-driving accurate as the P210.

The CZ75, Sig P226, and Beretta 92FS/M9 are all roughly equal in accuracy/reliability. I've shot a CZ clone (Witness) and it was scarily accurate. The Sig pistols are all remarkable, the 92FS is remarkable. There are a ton of great guns out there nowdays.

  • Yeah, mostly what it comes down to these days is portability vs. magazine size if cost isn't an issue.

  • Besides competition shooting, when do you need to shoot that accurate these days with hand guns? I think the magazine size and ease of reloading has made up for the accuracy loss which quite frankly isn't needed anymore with the advent of cheap sub-machine guns.

  • @xtelevisionset Self defense, maybe?

  • The gun will hit your target at a given range. This range won't be exceeded in self defense so the accuracy drop is a small compromise.

  • @xtelevisionset it HOPEFULLY wont be exceeded. Shoot outs dont always go down in such a nice setting as movies give. Its quite possible it could be close to a city block in range...

  • This is self defense, not shootouts. This usually happens within 5-20 meters.

The effective range of a Glock 17, a very common handgun, is 50m which is over half of a football field.

Who is defending their-selves beyond that distance?

  • @DeathBecomesYou702 Realistic? Are you kidding? In some ways it is but in most it is not. When he shot that guy with the double barrel and he went flying 8 yards into a wall I hardly call that realistic, and getting shot once with a .45 revolver round will not kill you. In many cases it can take all 6 shots.

  • @validranger11 Are you serious!? A .22 pistol round will kill you if it hits you right.

  • @DeathBecomesYou702 yep, back in the old west, it was more about spitting out as many bullets as you could rather than accuracy.

  • I love this shootout! Ugly and chaotic and all the townspeople are nearly as scared of the hero as the villain. Costner at his best.

  • 2:20 : best scene !!!!!!!

  • how does a boy survive several gunshot wounds

  • by not getting shot in the first place

  • it seemed like he got shot to me

  • well he didn't

he just tore upen his stitches and started bleeding again.

  • Depends on where you were hit and what you've been shot with. Plenty of accounts where people have been shot mulitple times by just about every major caliber weapon and live. Some have even taken head shots and live, albeit few.

  • This movie will live forever in my mind as the greatest. Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner were born to portray the characters.

  • Kevin Coster is great actor.

  • And director- Kevin Costner directed this one. He also directed Dances with Wolves.

  • "You and your boys are already dead"

This guy was talking like he had an army behind him. SMH

  • Benning is SO HOT!!!...way hotter than American Beauty

  • 0:30 Horse wang.

  • id anyone note that annette benning is smoking hot in this movie

  • She's smoking old.

  • LOL so am I !!!

  • That doesn't mean anything. A lot would want her.

  • she is smoking hot..... check her out a few years back in "The Grifters"

  • "your a disgrace marshall pool! **SLAP** you always have been." Annette Benning slapped the crap out of that guy. My favorite part

  • it was also the most Random part in the movie which makes it funny

  • i didn't come all the way from irealnd without getting myself some american tail.

  • Cakid88: YOU'RE A NERD WATCHING A WESTERN ON YOUTUBE, NOT A BADASS GANGSTA! Who are you trying to impress? Stop trying to act like a moronic street punk, and grow up. Show some respect and some class. Women are not 'ho's", or "bitches" for God's sake. What is "dumb" is making sexist comments to make yourself sound "cool".

  • Great movie, but the ending is a little unrealistic. No one in the history of the world knowingly wanders into a gun fight. All the same, love Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner in this flick.

  • yea it was great. the only thing i found hard to believe is that they got imported cigars in some tiny general store in small town usa in the 1880s lol kinda hard to believe.

  • Didnt the US already have significant interests in Cuba by 1880? The spanish american war was only 18 years away.

  • kevin costner is badass

  • damn when he shoots the guy who has the woman hostage he is ANGRY

  • "make peace with your bad deeds" Nuff said.

  • he doesnt shoot him at 2:25 cuz he has a hostage, hes not trying to shoot people thats how everyone gets killed, not the idea of using a hostage, also you know who everyone is if u watch the movie. awesome movie tho, happy horse at 0:18

  • Great Movie

  • Ha, one of the horses fell at 3:07, he seems unharmed though.

  • the dumb hoe got in the way

  • womans cant fight bah

  • "Kill em not murder em," hahaha... ol Gus---funny as ever.

  • nice lonesome dove reference that was a great series

  • Why doesn't that guy shoot him at 2:25?

  • Too many witnesses!

  • no, he's chickenshit

  • if youse the guy you'd try to get away its 20to one you aint got no chance he took her hostage to try to escape if you start shooting youre dead

  • What I hate about westerns is that between all the hats and facial hair, I can't tell who the hell anyone is. I guess that's why in the black and white days, the good guys or white hats and the bad guys wore black...

  • paranzoik, ive read thousands and thousands of spams saying ill die if i dont re-post them, what kind of no lifer even creates spam?? if you actually believe it then youre as retarded as a fucking neanderthal.. go hang urself faggot

  • Stopping the gunfight to discuss morality, that's classic.

  • Very good movie but not a classic like Sergio Leone

  • "kill em not murder em"

    "splittin' hairs ain't ya boss?"

    ^Classic

  • Thanks for putting this on,

    It's a good movie.

  • love this movie
