  • Props for AC/DC

  • you're still not getting laid

  • @cageybee777 Are you saying that Warrick Brant isn't getting laid?

  • @BethaneyJayne not with a gut like that

  • 382kg=841 lbs

    for the record.

  • What the hell would that spotter do if he couldn't get up or dropped the weight?!

  • does anyone know if a weightlifting bar has ever broken when using really high weights?

  • HO - LY - SHIT!

  • @Danger3three It's a box squat.. it activates your glute, which transfers to normal squat and deadlift a lot

  • snoopogg will make you sweat

  • lol at idiots saying this exercise is unsafe. box squatting is a great way to have beginners learn to squat correctly and is not in any way more dangerous to preform than a normal squat

  • @dingusbird123 depends on what you define as "correctly". for a full squat, leaning back the same way you sit on the box is wrong. i can't imagine how box squats can help an athlete learn to do a full squat. maybe a powerlifting squat i dunno

  • @atgcuz The squat (whether power or Olympic stylee) requires hamstring power - power more than Oly. The box squat, by forcing/allowing you to sit back more without toppling, puts all the strain on the posterior chain and forces you to strengthen it. So when you sit back into whatever style of squat you do, your posterior chain will be stronger. And as the first momvement of any squat is to sit back, how this doen't help isn't quite clear to me.

  • @Pisswizzard1234 ok, it strengthens you, but it doesnt help you learn technique. also the best exercise for any movement is really the movement itself. specificity was one of the key components of how the ledgendary bulgarian weightlifters trained. if a lifter was learning to a olympic/powerlifting squat properly, he should choose to just do that squat instead of doing this

  • @atgcuz True. I suspect this guy already knows how to squat though :-D Also, strongman doesn't really feature that many full squat movements.....maybe that's why he's focussing on this portion of the movement?

  • Squatting in this style is definitely not recommended for beginners and casual trainers. Yes, you can get injured badly. But for someone as experienced and strong as Warrick Brant...well, let's be honest, he can do anything he pleases and he will make gains. This is a difficult exercise and he did it with speed and power. Kudos to him.

  • @Danger3three no. i used to have knee pain BEFORE doing heavy squats. Now my bones and tendons have strengthened and i don't have knee pain anymore

  • DAAAAAMMMMM : O

  • Even the title says "squat" (notice the quotations?)

  • Woow maaan i do not wanna be that bench !

  • r U Fuc**n kidding me? 6 reps of 340 KG?! Oo

  • Strong dude !! He´s actually glose to being under paralelle(he might be under in some of the lifts) do to he´s bodycomposition. Plus its a highbar and he pauses with it. So if you dont think this is good lifting you dont know squad or SQUAT for that matter.

  • in pounds this would be 750 pounds i bet no one that watched this video could do this

  • Is the bar right placed? I thought u place it on the trapezius and back delta muscles and not on the bones???

  • i was going to question his squats but read the sensible comments and learnt something new. Got to love you tube

  • Does anyone know what that blue thing that strongmen wear under the belt is?

  • @krakistophales It's a neoprene back support made by Rehband same company that makes the blue knee sleeves that you will see in strong man and powerlifting.....

  • damn.......thats all I got hah

  • Incredible weight. Dont forget hes not using his stretch reflex to get out of the hole.

  • wow, there are a lot of internet experts here. these are the facts:

    1) squatting 340kg is really fucking hard.

    2) squatting 340kg for less-than-full ROM off of a box (so you don't benefit from a stretch reflex) is really fucking hard.

    3) box squats and partial ROM movements are legitimate additions to an advanced training routine.

this guy probably does plenty of full squats to help his strongman work, too. the rest of you would do well to shut the fuck up, get under the bar and squat more.

  • @Egendomlighet J

Just one more fact, he is the 2009 US national power lifting champ so he probably knows a thing or two about what he's doing

  • @Egendomlighet Fucking well said :) Warrick is a good boy and strong as shit.

  • @Egendomlighet I really, really, REALLY wish there were more dudes on youtube like you! People who know what they're talking about and know some great lifting when they see it!

  • @Egendomlighet ur my hero :) u tell em

  • @Egendomlighet here is the major fact you for some reason forget to mention:

Squat ass to grass is the most difficult one in the whole world. Guess what everybody is affraid of hole. It's hard to get your fucking ass up. Everybody keeps repping 405 like that. I bet even my dog can do it. Sit down with 405 and let me know how you feel. This box lockouts are way way way way way easier.

  • @m5p944 You train for what your sport demands of you. Ass to grass squats are not relevant to what Warrick is developing here. I would put money warrick can take 405 ass to grass, pause, give you the finger, and do 20 reps with it.

  • @justbig I doubt that. Not because of a lack of strength more so flexibility. Also the motion of going over the knees really isolates the quads, for someone who is used to a really wide strong stance and really powering through with the lower back and glutes ATG squats would be like hell. That being said he could still lift a lot the guy's a machine.

  • @Egendomlighet

I so much agree - let the experts walk the talk, or let them shut up

  • wtf he sits down with 340 kg on hes back >_>

  • The criticism here is unwarranted. Brant isn't pretending he's doing competition-style squats -- he's doing a heavy squat exercise that will HELP his squat (and his deadlift even more) and will help build strength and endurance for Strongman competitions. Believe me, Paul Anderson did these, too.

  • @finrod55 Warrick + Brant = warrant. Hence, everything is warranted.

    A strange observation.

And Warrick is a sound geezer.

  • @finrod55 well been in ipf for competition and that scuat isnt deep enough i dont give u that one. his really strong though.

Keep up the good work man!

  • This is why strongman is great. Just lift heavy and repeat. Dont whine about depth on a single squat. Strongman > Powerlifitng.

  • for all you haters out there calling this bullshit, try lifing 748 pounds AT ALL. so what if he isn't doing real squats, that's still a hell of a feat.

  • Are you people fucking retarded, a high rep 340kg high box squat is a hell of an impressive feat.

  • LOL WTF ARE THESE, 2% ROM? LOLOL

  • @Rippingtonson LOL, this is hilarious, what a joke, anything that isn't parallel or below is not a squat.

  • @endorphine99 How would you define a squat?

  • @endorphine99 ok then big man, lets see you sit down with 340kg on your back because i reckon you sure as hell won't be getting up....ever

  • @Rippingtonson think you should try doing that, and remember to film it, would like to se you break your back under that!

  • @Rippingtonson box squats mate, they help with the lock out. or top half of the squat.

  • @mitchasicsTry box squating at the same depth you would typically squat to and I guarantee you won't be able to use as much weight. But you must actually sit down on the box, not just do a touch-and-go. And you must stay tight the whole time and kick your hips back until you're seated instead of just plopping down. Just copy the video but use a lower box.

  • @chrisbkqns13

your hips should be lower or parallel with your knee when you do box squat

going lower is recommended more of a stretch, plus it helps for competition squat

  • @mitchasics Just the fact that he has 748 lbs sitting on his back is hard enough. Sitting down makes it harder. When you box squat you eliminate the stretch reflex so you can't use the elasticity and tesion of your muscles and tendons and momentum to bounce back out of the hole. Starting from a dead stop on a box is like deadlifting with a deload on each rep instead of bouncing the bar off the floor on each rep.

  • dare i ask whats your bes Raw Front and back squat singles? :O

  • Listen to all u morons that struggle under just the bar lol show sum respect. He is a champion power-lifter, take out a pad and pen and take notes u morons

  • geez, how can you not respect that. thats a massive amount of weight

  • pointless

  • @lemonlimelukey Wat the fuck is pointless? U jealous little rat show sum respect where its deserved. Just because that amount of weight would cut u in half.

  • @newnrg gettt a lifeeeee

  • I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, that's alot of weight.....but he's got knee straps and sitting down. What's the point (rhetorically speaking)!!!

  • Strictly for idiots.

  • Box Squats are the number one thing the best powerlifters do to train.

  • what is box squating good for?

  • safety,confidence,if you dont have a spotter ???

  • @deanothetank I think the idea is to help the speed of the firing of the muscle.... because your muscles lose tension when you sit down, so there is an instantaneous moment when the muscle goes from no tension to tension with one quick moment as you stand back up

  • Squating on to a bench like that is a really really bad thing to do. Dont do it.

  • he's box squatting but you're not a lifter so you wouldn't know...

  • I know what hes doing and its a very stupid exercise that is quite likely to damage his back the first time he sits too quickly...hes an idiot. But you're not a lifter so you wouldn't know...

  • boy are you desperate whatever your name is...

    some lifter you are...

  • Idiot....

  • Manoo62 sucks cock!

  • You just keep bouncing up and down with those weights arsewipe.

  • Manoo62 you are an idiot! The best lifters and coaches in the world suggest box squats. You know nothing fuck-head.

  • and i guess your a strength coach?

  • greatness

  • FUCKIN WEAPON

  • i think this man has the biggest squating power i have ever seen!!

  • look the bar cant even handle it!

  • very fucking strong! are you australian, where do you train
