  • Thanks so much for putting this together, really appreciate it.

  • yeh now watch the movie...dark as hell

  • Anybody want to help me find the sheet music for this?

  • It's interesting to see the difference between the similiar stories "Ringing Bell" (Japan) and "Lambert the Sheepish Lion" (USA).

They both deal with the same subject matter: wolves attacking sheep, but Disney's approach is more comical and the anime version is more about the harsh realities of life.

Okay, I'm getting way too analytical. I'll stop now. : )

  • @kudiepie That's Right!!! Emperor Hirohito's favorite movie was "Lambert the Sheepish Lion". Walt Disney even gave him the original copy of the film after WW2 ended. Did u know that "Ringing Bell" was a political statement towards the Emperor? Many of the anime artists in the 70s were children during WW2, and they lost so much when the Emperor forced their families to go to war. This film was a statement towards the Emperor, telling him that we lost mother's & childhoods because of u.

  • @kudiepie No, it's interesting! :) You're right, Chirin is much darker than Disney's Lambert, but both stories use the image of sheep and wolves to introduce similar themes. The lion who should have been a terrible predator protects the sheep who raised him, while the little lamb kind of loses his identity by becoming like the wolf he wanted to kill... And have you by any chance seen "Arashi no yoru ni"? That one is about a goat and a wolf being persecuted by their clans for becoming friends.

  • I freaking loved this movie.

It was the single most adorable thing I have ever seen. <3<3

  • Chirin no suzu de omoidasu / Yasashii matsuge wo hohoemi wo / Chirin no suzu de omoidasu / Kono yo no sabishisa mata kanashimi / Chirin on suzu yo ima wa doko / Nan do ka kisetsu wa meguru no ni / Chirin no suzu yo ima wa doko / Ima de wa tazuneru hito mo nai .

  • Is that the first song in Japanese?

  • That's right, though the English translation is different, both versions of the songs are sung by the Brothers Four in both English and Japanese in the original dub. ; )

  • How do yopu know whom's singing?

  • Credit is given in the Japanese-translated script at pelleas-dot-net/hm/chirin.ssa

  • Do you know where I can find the song?

  • I wonder where the Japanese version of the song is? I'd love to hear it.

  • Ahaha. Yayss. <333

  • (Raises one eye brown)
