I love them, I do indeed. But don't think they are "original". They have invented nothing. Take Main Offender and then listen to Have Love With Travel by The Sonics. And also B is for Brutus and Trouble by The Music Machine. I just hope people is aware about this.

This is not meant to spoil their HUGE talent. They're great (also because they bring garage back from its grave...GARAGE IS GOREGOUS). I love them, again.

wow are you smoking crack? Just listened to "trouble" by the Music Machine and there is o1 riff that repeats that is a little similar to 1 riff in "B is for Brutus". Besides that there is nothing alike between the songs.

Bro if we went to go down that route we could spend years discussing how one song stole from another based on a couple of notes and how ultimately noone is original.

what a makes a song:

sound dynamics

tempo

attitude

rythym

not a couple of notes in a row that sound similar from one song to another. You can't invent a new way to go from a note to the next note.

and that sonics song? the tempo is a little similar along with the break but really? there is no comparison.

try Mary Jane by Tom Petty and Danni California by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Both those songs have near the exact same chord progression for the verses and similar rythym. Thats an example not being original.

True. Originality is overrated though, I find. Near enough everything has already been done, so to find a new sound that isn't remotely reminiscent of something before, many bands lose sight of just making great music and stray towards the unlistenable. After all, they're musicians, not scientists! :D
