When I was a child in Jamaica I would have gotten a beating if I was told to do something and showed that I was upset about doing it. I never did, but my younger brother did and he got a beating for it......he never did it again. To a parent it is a subtle form of defiance or disrespect. Some parents do go to extreme but its also wrong to take parents God given rights away by making it illegal to use the rod or stick when necessary. It is also wrong to allow a child to have its own way.
