  • Hello,

I have Expression Web (for academic use only), the first version after Front Page. Would I be able to upgrade to any newer version without having to buy a brand new version? I love my original version, but would love to upgrade, and I would rather buy the upgrade version (much cheaper). Could you direct me on this, or know where I could find out this information? Thanks.

  • Very helpful - thanks!

  • I am trying to import from file system and I keep getting the error:

"You must first create or open the site where you want to import files or folders, and then click import on the file menu" I am completely stuck.

  • @PTW315 Okay, I believe you are trying to import a site by clicking File - Choosing Import. The File --> import is used to import files or folders into an existing web site. You need to click Site and choose Import --> then choose Import Site Wizard. Then choose File System. This should work.

  • Fantastic tutorials by the way. Thanks.

  • @tracy10UT Thanks tracy10UT, I like to hear that, it let's me know I am doing something right. Of course, request a tutorial if there is something in particular you are looking for. Be glad to find out what everyone is interested in.

  • So if I have two domains with one provider and a third with another, how would I do that? Domain B is listed as a separate directory under Domain A.

Domain C though, is with someone else at a different web provider address.

So how would I import all three sites from two domains? Or is it best to just start all over from scratch again and create 3 new sites ad then import into each created site & then resubmit all entirely through Google again?

  • @tracy10UT The best thing to do when you have 3 separate domain names is to import each site individually. This way, there's no confusion as to which file goes with which domain name. Even subdomains are best imported into their own web sites. A subdomain is really a web site within a web site.

  • @Expressionweb2

Thanks. Of course! Never thought of that! It appears that this program will work much better than Front page in this regard -- unless Front page was capable of doing the same thing all along and I never realized it.

  • You say that when you're importing a website you don't need to create a new site. But that's the problem I had with Front page. It seemed that if you had imported one site you couldn't create another. So if I don't create a new site, won't everything from many sites all go into the same file? Thanks.

  • @tracy10UT Okay, you will create a site (which is a folder) during the import wizard process. My point is "you don't have to create a new web site before using the Import Site Wizard". follow me?

  • Thanks - wow now what do I do? I mean I would to add a background color different from the mast or content. Is that fairly easy?

  • Well, once you import your site, you can edit it any way you would like. It's very easy to change the background color is you used CSS to build your site. Even if you did not use CSS , you can still easily edit the color. So, you next step depends upon how your site was built. Just send me a message and provide me the link and I will tell you your next step.

  • Good Stuff Kel,

    Well explained as always

  • Thanks Paul!

  • niceeeeeeee!

  • Hey, Thanks!
