All of the tracks in this video, vocal and instrumental, have obviously gone through post-production. However, the Boys sound at least decent in live (I have worked the booth at a couple of their shows). In their defense, also, it is very common in the music industry to run live recordings through post-production before they're put on DVD, VHS, etc. Pete's mic picking up his voice perfectly when he puts it away is thanks to a signal compressor, not because he was lip-syncing. I think this is from a different show. NB taped 2 shows. months apart in Houston. The first is not on the DVD but this might be the video. On this video at 9:26 Peter sings a different verse than the dvd release. He inserts the line "All the love between Texas and I" instead of "All the love between you and I." This video is much darker than the second concert footage too. So how did this professional "bootleg" end up online?
At 9:26 on this video Peter sings "All the love between you and I." on the live CD he sings " all the love between Texas and I" and then the crowd. The first show did not cut the mustard so they used a different venue and production house for the DVD.This could be the "lost footage" from the first show.
I don't really know either but its one of the two. I think you're right though about him lip syncing all of the time. he always pulls his face away from the mic too and it still picks his voice up perectly...hmmm.
Seems unlikely that these would be the original vocals. They could be authentic, Peter's voice was pretty fatigued at this show and this sounds raspy. I hate to say this but with Jeff playing bass and the already heavy use of keyboards and drum tracks, it makes me wonder how sweetened the Newsboys sound is live.
You made a VERY good point there!! this is probably the closest thing to live you can get though....they do actually play their instruments though you can tell because if they weren't they would look awkward holding the guitars and playing keyboards and drums. you never really know though..it makes me wonder how real the Newsboys really are sometimes.
@CheyenneABrown122 Remember that the Newsboys DID fake the whole thing way back in the day. Remember when they were opening for DC Talk and the new album was Boys will be Boyz? Well, they weren't playing back then. Peter admitted that a few years later- embarassed and now they never play any music from that album. So I guess I wouldn't be totally shocked to hear they were li[p syncing, diddapointed yes, shocked no!
Hey I wouldn't be shocked either!! and I'm not. just Imagine how bad he must really sound live!! Hahaha!! they need to hire me to e the lead singer of the newsboys even though I'm a girl. I'll show Peter what real singing is!!!! not that I'm the best singer in the world..but I can carry a tune.
