Shit, I used to have this guitar/amp combo as a kid. Sears Silvertone, burgundy glitter, tube amp built into the case. Tweed front speaker. I sold it for 50 bucks to the single mother down the street for her son who was 10 yrs old. It was a bitch to play, but that sound is so unmistakeable. SHIT! There are 5 on ebay right now.... for an average of 2 grand each and mine worked perfect.! And no I didn't get laid out of the the deal.
very awesome track it rocks very well!!!! You can hear their talent that they made them to CCR a few later very well!!! 5 stars for uploadin' this from germany!!
i recorded this number at abbey road. it was released on march 10th 1967 on e.m.i. label....we were called the chances are...nice one mr. foggerty...we bubbled under with it for a while.... happy days...peace x
I think this one is just John trying his best to sing in a "pop" voice but on one of the verses, the real John comes out, lol. I love this song, it's probally my favorite of all The Golliwogs songs. However, "Fight Fire" and "Can't Stop Pretending" are awesome!

This is John on vocal. For Tom listen to "Bonita", "Little Girl", "Don't Tell Me No Lies",
"You Came Walking".

John Fogerty

Tom Fogerty...With backing vocals of John and himself. Tom's voice is very similar to John's voice, but less powerful...

Agree with doglips1958 ( "This is one GREAT song") but there's a better version by The Chances Are posted on another site.

so was Cook playing bass by this point or was he on piano? Or was Cook on bass and Fogerty did the multi-instrument stuff?
