  • smoooooooooooooth

  • True, there are two, distinctive Mac's. This was part 1, & then there was part 2 when Lindsey & Stevie joined the band. And, of course the band went into another direction with a different sound. I liked both sounds. But I admit, I am more partial to part 2. Anyway, both parts are great.

  • The Peter Green years...also!!

  • good music but one of the worst album covers ever. ;-)

  • @dankwarth (I'm a Mac fan): I had wondered if the images were based on Lewis Carrol's "Through The Looking Glass"- I know there's the the part where Alice hears the story of the "Walrus and The Carpenter"- but the image here on the cover looks like a baboon to me!

  • That creep is gunna eat the whole cake!

  • Lucky us in the Providence radio sphere we had BRU!

  • One of the most "supernatural songs ever written. Absolutely mystical!

  • This must be Bob Welch on vocals, I love his albums "Three Hearts" and "French Kiss"

  • The best!! stevie WHO?

  • Such a chill song. Brings back many good memories...

  • Wow. I'm 27, and have only known Buckingham/Nicks era FM until this evening. While I've been impressed by and thoroughly enjoyed many of LB's pop confections (fwiw, I'd take Tusk for his work on it over Rumours, and I think Out of the Cradle is fantastic) but this music is The Real Thing... You can certainly hear the DNA given the common elements, but this just sounds... real and inspired, rather than crafted. What a drum track... that and the keys make the song. Brilliant!!!

  • Most of you kids were not even around when this song came out.

  • Fleetwood Mac, Prior to Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, is for the purist. They went 'Hollywood' after that. Always ruins is for me...

  • Ah pre stevie, their peak.

  • awesome vocals!

  • This album has a bizarre, psychedelic quality to it. In the texture of the song. Oh...and that album art....hahahah

  • Pre- Stivie Nix Fleetwood Mac

  • Fleetwood Macmusic keeps me hypnotized......years and years after their releases!

  • ONE OF MY TOP 10!

  • RIP Bob.

  • R.I.P. Bob W.? Idiot. Wiki him, you moron

  • @cecilzebra Bob Weston, the soloist on the song, died on January 3. Bob Welch is still alive. Wiki yourself

  • This song definitely hypnotized me and is a member of my 70's dream.

  • Absolutely amazing this sound. R.I.P. Bob W. This song got me hypnotized!

  • RIP Bob Weston...such fluid guitar in this.

  • @GoatBeach Bob welch on guitar

  • @3591balar

"The song, as indicated by the title takes the form of a mystical, dreamy reverie. It features triple time rhythm on the drums by Mick Fleetwood and combines with acoustic guitar and electric keyboards to give a jazzier essence to the song.[2] Welch draws upon the use of jazz fourth chords in the song playing in a minor key and also features a guitar solo by guitarist Bob Weston[2] covering many octaves."

Bob Weston passed away a couple days ago, and this solo is one of his best. (:>

  • @GoatBeach Thx for the info!!

  • Fleetwood Mac in all their glory. I love them at all their stages! They're so damned talented. Where is the rock & roll these days? I thought it would never end! They call 'stuff' today 'rock'. I don't think so….

  • I remember trying to play the drums to this song and it was so mesmerizing I kept stopping. My buddies would get angry with me 'cause I loved the rythme so much I couldn't play the whole song.

  • This is a great tune ! brings me right back to the day.

  • Good comments...I feel the same way. Sooo tight...hauntingly beautiful. I also echo the comments about this awesome band F-Mac was before Nicks. LOVE THE JAZZY GUITAR TOO!

  • How old is this song??? 40 years? Man they were tight back then b4 Buckingham/Nicks came into the picture.......Sounds like an LSD trip that they enjoyed back in the day!!

Is this what the song all about?????

  • @superbillywaters daily meditation or weed were likely part of the mix. This sound is too earthy hypnotic, not lsd astral hypnotic.

  • I slept to it last night and will again tonight.

  • Bob Welch's voice in this song has ME hypnotized. It's a dreamy performance, so smooth.

  • Isn't this one of their VERY best songs ever???..It is my favorite by them!! I agree Chefjanet!!!

  • As much as I love this song, I never understood the Album cover....

  • @sepulthrax i suppose it's just the crazy kinda image mix that surfaces in dreams. a combination of archetype (sea & beast), novelty (book), and commodity (the cake), as a combination of memory zones all get stimulated simultaniously during sleep.

  • First Pull Of Colombian Was To This.Good Good Times.

  • Hey guess what? I am a feminist, I'm not miserable and I also miss and loved when music was designed for the psychedelic experience. I too am not a fan of the typical pop song formula. I don't necessarily think Fleetwood Mac was at their best with Stevie and Lindsay. And people who think so never really explored the Peter Green era and Bob Welch era. Grammys don't mean anything. If Katy Perry and Taylor Swift can get them, anyone can.

  • Wow, They really did. Musical genius melded by musical genius.

  • @BEATNIK1957 aided by a magical moment when time slooowed down and the art flooowed out.

  • gotta admit I'm a pre lindsey buckingham fan, but this is gorgeous.

  • @davidleegoth This is pre LindsayStevie.Check out pre Bob Welch with the original lineup with Peter Green, great guitarist and bluesman ,the original Fleetwood Mac.

  • To me the most beautiful FM song.

  • have enjoyed fleetwood mac since the tune oh well with peter green. long time ago lol

  • Loved Bob Welch era Mac'!! Well, actually did the band ever really have a bad era? All different and brilliant in their own unique way.

  • amazing classic song. they were so talented. i can't help it, i liked them prior to the addition of stevie. love her and all but they lost this sound after she joined.

  • @chefjanet2k

Glad I'm not the ONLY one who believes that.

  • @chefjanet2k Not True, Fleetwood Mac was at their best with Stevie, which was why with "Rumors", they got the most Grammys, EVERY song on that album was great, and after that they went down hill.

Gold Dust Woman, and the Chain and Dreaming are great songs, my humble opinion

  • @chefjanet2k this guy left the band on his own,and stevie and lindsey came as a package as they wanted him to replace dude, and she came with him,but I agree, they did lose the sound they had

  • @chefjanet2k Yea, they went 'Pop' after that. It's never the same...

  • Carlos Castaneda always came to mind with this song. When music was designed for the psychedelic experience, quite unlike now, where music is designed for miserable feminists, drunks, and commodities.

  • @Thetaloops

    Excellent thought

  • @Thetaloops so true!

  • @Thetaloops Journey to Ixtlan, Tales of Power! Good call!

  • @Thetaloops Ah Carlos. Still I can see parts of his "vision".

  • @Thetaloops From the same 'Mystery to Me' album, on the song 'Miles Away' Welch sings, "Don Juan goes up in a cloud of smoke..."

Btw, how about the bass rift on this song. Got me hypnotized, lol...........

  • Timeless classic

  • @MrBill35 I wonder did BobW ever meet Carlos personaly? he surely read the books. Throw some dreamy Riders On The Storm in there also. Southern West Coast Magical Sixties and Seventies streaming the subconscious dream.

  • future games is his best song, and danny kirwan plays lead , solos into the next galaxy

  • Very relaxing! Good song :)

  • Wish they would play this on the radio more often !!!!!!!!!!!

  • good song :P

  • this song never gets old

  • Take note of the constant oscillating organ from left speaker (in my case headphone). Very cool.

  • classic tune from a classic band even BEFORE Stevie and Lindsay joined up

  • very cool song .......

  • I wanna go to that place.....

  • great make-out song

  • As other 70's giants start to sound dated. I ain't talking production but lifestyle and beliefs as demonstrated in their music etc. This sounds fresh but it's really timeless. Been lovin' this and Stones Black and Blue lately.

  • i was 23

  • I love this song!

  • this song is so ufo righteous

  • 300 mag

  • Still after all these years my favorite song from the 70's!

  • Thanks! I haven't thought of this song in years. Early college days for sure.

  • the damn baboon or whatever has a penis on his back ! i ve heard about a monkey on ur back--but this is too weird !

  • @superfleetwoodmac what happened to your video of emerald eyes? please say it's not so......

  • @buzmanegb

    "Ebony Eyes".

  • Thanks so much for posting these songs. Reminds me of my early college days! Wonderful

  • the Mac w/ Bob Welch! Way before Buckingham/Nicks commercial rock

  • @sepulthrax your right on partner/when he left I left the mac also and followed Bob

  • awesome song

  • Want some cake, sweet beast? Come home with me....

  • what a wierd album cover but I love it!

  • @sepulthrax

It's a collection of phallic symbols.

  • @currencymule hmm, I never thought of it that way. To me it was always one of my Dad's fascinating album covers that i always stared at for hours. And the music was good too!!
