One issue that always comes up when discussing the Quran is the definition of Prophet (Nabi) & messenger (Rasoul). NO ONE can define these better than the One who sent them both. The definitions are very clear in the Quran. Many, however, do not accept the definition given by God & instead accept the definition they give, that is given by others or in the dictionary. The 1st example for messenger & prophet comes from 7:157, & 7:158 where God described the Prophet Muhammed as; See Panel #2

Verse 3:81, among many others, provides the definitions of Prophet & Messenger. Thus, "Nabi" is a messenger of God who delivers a new scripture, while "Rasoul" is a messenger commissioned by God to confirm existing scripture. According to the Quran, every Prophet is a Messenger but not every Messenger is a Prophet
