English is a funny language. Of course the term thick-skinned carries a positive connotation and makes one think of a coat of armor, or protective layer that keeps our fragile ego from annihilation. However, "thick", is usually used with a negative connotation to describe someone who is daft, or slightly overweight; One being a completely mental observation, the other completely superficial. It is a contradiction of terms to want to be the opposite of dense, thin in stature, and have thick skin.
After listening to this masterpiece, give a listen to Dolorian "Ivory Artery". It has that great ambient amotsphere build up to the violence just as this does. Both great tracks. One old, one new.
@DerrickthePinecone The only thing that is "garbage" is your rude and ignorant opinion dicklips, but I guess for some people it's impossible to disagree without being an insulting asshole.
@abyssalanguish No need to get angry, mon ami. Life is too short to have such a temper! Anger blows out the lamp of the mind, so they say--make certain to keep yours on, or else it may become your downfall. Mr. Brightside, signing off.
@DerrickthePinecone Well, maybe if you wish to not invoke negative response from others, you should be more mindful on how you approach them. Insulting what others like just because you don't care for it yourself is clearly driven by arrogance. There are classier and more polite ways of sharing your opinion or disagreement without being rude. After all, it's the clouded mind of the ego that sees his own views as the only ones righteously valid.
@abyssalanguish If you're easily invoked to make a response to such things, perhaps you should look in the mirror? That's essentially repeating what is singularly a simple argument against someone by nearly doubling the "arrogance" by responding, no? I never insulted you personally. I merely stated that that garbage doesn't compare; nothing to do with you personally. Opinions & arrogance are two different entities. You like it, I don't--there doesn't need to be a fixing tray to disguise the two.
@DerrickthePinecone Fuck you, you self righteous douchebag ! Your initial response was rude, I simply called the kettle black. Insulting ones personal tastes IS a direct insult toward that individual. Your opinion on the matter stunk of arrogance, otherwise you would of chose a kinder word than "garbage". What did you expect? Let me guess, you're christian right ? I'd be very surprised if I'm wrong. That wretched religion breeds shitheads like you !!
@abyssalanguish Oh, come on! Why are you so thin-skinned? I apologize if you were offended by my comment; I should have worded by comment better than I did. I should have simply said, "The music that you chose doesn't compare to this particular piece by Pink Floyd." I agree that it takes all kinds and opinions and 'tastes' to make the world, and that's a good thing. I may not like it, but you like it, and that's all that matters. We're all different. So, again, apologies if I came off as rude!
I appreciate your enthusiasm for Pink Floyd. I've listened to them since I was in high school Algebra class. A girl brought Dark Side of the Moon to class and the teacher slammed his textbook shut and went to his office and hauled out a record player. That was 1974. But don't use drugs listening to music it'll flat ruin your life. The best way to hear all the music is with a pair of Sennheiser or Koss headphones on. You want to hear every note!
"Careful with that Axe Eugene" is an unbelievable song. I have been a diehard Pink Floyd fan for over 30 years. I have seen them live numerous times. The first part of the song is portrays how the murderer feels while stalking its prey. The chaotic middle piece represents the out of control rage the murderer feels during the actual murder. The last part of the song represents the adrenaline slow down of the post murderer's emotions. Listen to the song and you will know what I mean.

The Present will turn this world right-side up if it reaches enough people. You will see what I mean when you read the first page.

what a great song and what a place to play this classic, what i would give to have been able to watch and listen to floyd perform to what i believe is some of there best work
So great ! No words to tell what I feel listening to this song ! But... special thoughts to Thierry died of an overdose, too many years ago. We were so happy ! All my love to you...
Will everyone shut up about being born in the wrong generation... if it weren't for your current generation you wouldn't be able to watch so many Pink Floyd videos and listen to and discover so much of their music from the internet and YouTube. Back then, the only way to have heard this would be to have gone to this concert.
Everyone who was born in the 90's and up realizes that wasn't a good era to be born in. With all this new gay music, I'm only 15 and this is the music I truely appreciate!
Words cannot describe how mind blowing floyd were with Roger Waters. I suffer with multiple personality disorder and everyone of them loves the floyd !!!!!!!! Its the only time we come together as one. Careful with that axe...........
Prefer the version with the original Pompeii footage. Some of the new Director's Cut footage here does look cool, but the way it's edited gives even less screen time of the Floyd playing. And the original also had footage of the band walking through an area with some volcanic activity.
Plus, for some reason it sounds like Richard Wright's playing keyboard blips that weren't in the original version.
But this does have great interview footage. And the song itself is amazing, of course.
@TheOneartist Actually it sounds like the conversion or whatever for this video ruined the keyboard. Watching the same exact thing someone else uploaded, and it doesn't have any "blips" at all. I recommend Pink Floyd fans do themselves a favour and search for another upload of this video.
Eugene comes from the word eugenics, which means to kill or create for the betterment of humanity (playing god really, forcing certain genes to be used-- does Aryan supremacy ring a bell?) they arent saying eugenics are bad, but must be executed very delicately
It puts your brain into agony, sometimes I don't know if its the song screaming, or my own mind. I will love pink Floyd forever, the only thing to make me happy anymore
@MegaMusicLoveer my case is diferent. In my country, music in english was prohibited for many years, so I was lucky to be born in the 90's, but in the 80's would have been better

i got live at pompeii on my pc but i still couldnt figure out what the fuck hapened to roger on 5:02 (he does that silent scream and at about 5:02 he either gets electrocuted or ...i dont know it isnt shown here either way check it up it's funny as hell!!!!)
