I don't know much about Buddhism but the only thing i like about Buddhism is it won't say bad about any other religion. The most peaceful religion, I feel some joy.
Buddhists are continuously learning and becoming more enlightened with each passing moment with opened mind and good heart. Not a conformity but a way of life and thinking, a simple revelation could change ones outlook so it would be a hypocracy to give a negative oppinion of annother religion. Instead we find the common denominator in all religions and look for the likeness not the differences. Be good to each other no matter what you believe. This is a very wise man with great energy.<3
I love the fact that he said the reason you need to choose one is because it causes internal conflict and not that having two religions is inherently wrong.
christians dont view it as stupid im christian and think if i was to have another religion it would definately be buddism buddism is a lovely religion :)
@JoanFrancis100 I think it depends upon the Christian, Joan, as not all are alike. There are those, like yourself, whose dominant influence from the Gospels is the principle of love for God and humanity, and are happy to extend that love to everyone of every faith. Others are more dogmatically ensconced in the Biblical stories of judgment, law, and retribution, resulting in a worldview that mandates adherence to the "one, true religion". I like your point of view better. :-)
Buddhism is my One,It will always be my one,but when genuinely trustful christians come to my home occasionally wanting to explain their religion, it would be rude to refuse their kindness in speaking with me about their religion. I believe in Buddhism's "emptiness of all phenomena." It takes some study to get this one main point of Buddhist teachings.
only the last thing i don't agree with. you should make up your mind what is right or what is wrong, you descide what to belive in. of course that is hard to live, but feeling your emotions clearly should be your most important aim in life (again that is just my opinion because i think everything is based on emotions)
truth be told they look down on christianity as eternalist, simplistic, and mostly false. Tibetan Lamas habitually lie to westerners right to their faces, and see us as chattel and peasants. they don't respect us, at all. we are cash cows to them.
@BillKiernan are you a Buddhist because if you were you would realize that everything you just said would be breaking most of the points mentioned in the eight fold path. i highly doubt that the most devout followers of Buddhism would ever truly wish to harm anyone.
The Buddha is the Spiritual Father who Christ refers to anonymously because the Jews never would have followed him if he told them his Spiritual Father was the Buddha. The jealous "God" of the Jews is in fact proven by the New Testament to be the anti-Christ.

According to Buddhism, you are not supposed to dish other religions, or say bad things about other people, make lies and all that. It is a very nice religion. On the other hand, most religions (I'm not going to name names) tend to claim themselves as "the only true religion" and try to convert others which have evidently caused so much violence and murders. Not good.
@ruzickaw . Geshe-la knows but his great motivation wants to give a positive answer. Please, take also into account the words "sometimes" and "relatively"... The whole sentence in wich they are located is a modest masterwork of openness.
He is right, you have to choose one. This is not easy and for some people it might even cause extreme inner conflict and suffering and this is ironic since they came to Buddhism to learn how to end suffering.
@hellophoenix : Did you know there are some people who have two religions? In Japan, one can be Shinto and Buddhist at the same time. So I don't think you have to stick to one religion BUT for contrasting religion like this....it is better to choose one.

You can see how Buddhist view others religion, it's really peaceful..
But it's too pathetic that sometimes, others religion -no mention- view Buddhist as evil, sin, demon, crime...
Just listen to Ur voice within, this is a really nice quote that might be help you to find your religion:
"When I do good, I feel good; when I do bad, I feel bad, and that is my religion" -Abraham Lincoln-

@formless777 because some things we cannot prove and we can only hope for the best and to seek peace in our existence.
