  • Host was just not rdy for this interview. >.<

  • fail interview

  • Why are you all complaining about John being 'mean'? Theres nothing mean about telling an aspiring comic what is funny and what is awful.

  • true. and if i may add. he does draaaaag along those "jokes"

  • Oh Hodgman. I love him even when he's tired and smelly. But I can't wait for more less-smelly interviews.

  • The host is really good at saying "exactly".

  • and "I know".

  • "Bruce Campbell... he's so nice."

  • THIS IS HODGMAN.

I found this video, and I wish to clarify. I enjoyed being on BU TONIGHT very much, and Christian Lynch was a gentleman.

But it was 10AM, and I was tour-weary. I had just done an early interview with CN8 after an even earlier drive from Hartford. And in case you can't tell, my suit smelled.

So blame me for any awkwardness. But I do think I owe BU TONIGHT a better interview, and when I go on tour for the new book this fall, I SHALL ARRANGE IT.

    That is all.

  • w00t!

  • I thought rich people never smelled bad.

  • @areasofmyexpertise I have never met Mr. Hodgman, and yet, I have been a fan since I first laid eyes on him. Seeing him walk across my screen gives this old nerd a similar happy feeling as when I sat in a new Orleans theater as a High schooler, and for the first time saw the end credits to Buckaroo Banzai.

Yes, we should just call him John "F'n Brown Hodgman!!!

Yep Thats right, on a off day, He's just that cool.

Hope he hurries up with that next book!

  • @areasofmyexpertise Fans of Steven Fry's QI want you back!

  • The host was just fine... I love John Hodgman but he was being kind of a dick here...

  • Hodgman looks annoyed to be there... being an ass about it too, not a good sport. -1 point for him.

  • shame on BU... that host is a stinky poopy host!

  • This was very good.

  • This is very awkward.

  • John Hodgman does not look amused ,BU tonight.

  • damn the host sucks

  • it's not Harvard

  • Disclosure: I went to BU not so long ago. While I'm glad the school now allows students a cable package in their dorms ( [Napoleon Dynamite]Lucky!![/Napoleon Dynamite] ) the interview prep, audience prep, host, etc. were an embarassment. I hope lessons are learned and there's better material to show for it in future episodes.

  • The audience didn't show signs of life (5 of the host's classmates and his girlfriend, was it?). No laughter at the jokes, no applause, nothing. Then again, the interview, such as it was, might have thrown them off the pace.

  • The host isn't very good. He's an imitation of a host, basically. He's what 20-21, and his rap reference is Tupac? He's certainly not hip. As an imitator he's not funny. He's not appealing to his audience in any way. On the other hand, Hodgman is funny. And he basically interviewed himself. The host got all his facts wrong.

  • John Hodgemen seems like a bit of a Doushebag

  • That is part of his act...he is not really a douchebag. He acts like an expert, but in reality, he is a pseudo-expert which is really hilarious!

  • Good show.

  • Boston- isn't that the city that watches Aqua Teen the most

  • Come on guys, it is a university station. Its not too bad.

  • Wow. That was hilarious in an "this is awkward" sort of way. He's got a full 10 minutes with John Hodgeman and it's essentially a really slow-moving version of what you'd get on the Daily Show. You can tell the host doesn't quite know how to navigate the situation, and John is wondering why the heck he agreed to be on the show, he's even giving the audience cues! Hilarious.

  • is this show on Cable? i've never heard of it. it looks pretty public access like

  • It's Boston University's school channel. If you go to BU and get their cable service you'll get this channel. Otherwise you can't.

  • Their full video library is available online at butv10 dot com

  • BU sux, but, then again, that is not news, lol!

  • the host is just plain boring...

  • Well, its no wonder John is irritated...The set sucks, the host is boring and unfunny, and he keeps interrupting him...

The host really has no charisma, charm, etc and makes a fairly lousy host. I wonder why he even has an audience, let alone television program.

  • LOL hey you just described any guest's appearance with Neil Hamburger on that Tom Green site...

  • LOL

    Yeah you're right.

  • the host is a tool.

  • drydawn: the host is very young and inexperienced.

  • I'm sorry the host is a tool

  • I would be ticked off, if i had made the mistake of being on that show.

  • This interview is to unplanned. So there is a lot of dead time and the guy interrupts him too much.

  • I think you people are misinterpreting Mr. Hodgman's sense of humor and manner of speech as irritation with the interviewer. This often happens when simple minds are presented with subtle humor. The interviewer does interrupt a lot though.

  • "This often happens when simple minds are presented with subtle humor."

I love the smug egotism in that sentence.

  • Cliffhuxtable: Of your three assertions, the first and third are likely correct. As to the second: wheww! what kind of bozo goes on a public forum and posts something like that?! What are you?, ten?

  • Thanks barb99999, too bad you're a Diarrhea face.

  • Good one! Kudos. Ya got me there.

  • that was actually pretty funny... but for some reason the audience wasn't laughing. I think in more professional studios they do a better job of warming up the audience.

  • I think he's pissed because he looks three feet tall in this clip...

  • lol what the hell is BU tonight? looks like a cheap media studies project

  • ^ agreed, his irritation is so obvious it's funny. And I used to really like Hodgman (from the Daily Show appearances), but in this interview he comes off as arrogant, condescending, and with an air of resigned superiority. It's pretty off-putting.. have to admit I don't like the guy as much after seeing this clip.

  • Hodgeman seems to hate that guy

  • Awesome graphic!
