  • It's amazing all the same though :D

  • I don't understand why this music is associated with The Dying Swan, when it's not even in the same suite. This music is a musical profile of the swan by Saens.

  • absolutely gorgeous !!

  • this is so beautiful !<3

  • wooow shes so softly in angle :(

  • HER ARMS ARE JUST LIKE

    .WOW! I LOVE IT...

  • can watch it a thousand times and it still gonna make tears drop from my eyes...

  • Her arms at the beginning :O

  • She is full of great ability and overflowing with beauty and grace she inspires me I'm a young dancer too I'm 13 years ol

  • @Anyagotswagga I hope you see this post. You seem to genuinely love this ballerina, if that is so you might be interested to know that Maya Plisetskaya was given the title of Prima Ballerina Assaluta by her Russian compatriots. That title isn't given out much any more because it became a political issue. However, if anyone deserved the title, she did, as she is "probably" the greatest ballerina who ever lived. (She is 86 years old.) Read her autobiography,"I, Maya Plisetskaya.

  • @Anyagotswagga This is a follow-up post. Get the DVD "Essential Ballet" and you will see Maya dance the Dying Swan at the age of 68. That was in 1993 her jubilee year, meaning 50 years dancing with the Bolshoi Theater. She danced at her own jubilee celebration that same year. She once said in an interview that she had danced tThe Dying Swan 20,000 to 30,000 times in during her career. That could have been a typographical error.

  • 3;29 mins and my eyes are watering. soo beautiful and touching

  • breath takingly beautiful

  • There's another version she danced this to... it had a blue background and I think it was a t.v. broadcast? It used to be on YouTube now I can't find it. :( Anyone know what year or show that was?

  • Amazing...what beautiful things human beings can do

  • Beutiful!!!!!!! C:

  • The music reminds me soooo much at Twilight, why? -.-

  • I've seen many variations of the dying swan but this one is the best one with no doubts. The way her body transmits every feeling is just amazing, and her thechnique and arms... just stuning! I cried by watching this :')

  • bravo!

  • beautiful

  • My favorite piece to perform on the cello. The woman dances so beautifully, what a great video...

  • Video Dance TV is featuring this video as the DANCE VIDEO OF THE DAY. Cheers!

  • BEAUTIFUL!!! BRAVOOOOOO!!! BRAVOOOOO!!!!!!! each time i watch this i cry and feel hurt so much and i wonder why!

  • Excellent recording.

  • Yeah i remember her effect on me; i was lucky enough to get to watch a rehearsal from the soundbox ... not sure what she was dancing but the way she moved it was so expressive like dancing mime and i just burst out crying ... ! I've never understood the dying swan until tonight; but always loved the music

  • im crying n dont even know why. shes beautiful! a real swan!

  • Yes, the appreciation of the female form. Gave that lecture. Just can't remember it.

  • oh, wow, i was like "NO, don't die!"

  • she looks dying.

  • This is so unreal! She has the kind of grace and beauty I could only dream of having!Peole are saying things like "omg whats wrong with her arms?" but they only say that because they wish they could dance like her.

  • She looks and moves exactly like a swan, unbelievable...amazing ballerina, she took my breath away! I've never seen anything like it!

  • Beautiful !!

  • that should be kept for eternity. it's art in pure state

  • what the hell are her arms made of???

  • I teared while watching this.Lovely!

  • she is soo beautiful :)

  • "Arms folded, on tiptoe, she dreamily and slowly circles the stage. By even, gliding motions of the hands, returning to the background from whence she emerged, she seems to strive toward the horizon, as though a moment more and she will fly—exploring the confines of space with her soul. The tension gradually relaxes and she sinks to earth, arms waving faintly as in pain. Then faltering with irregular steps toward the edge of the stage—leg bones aquiver like the strings".. Read the rest on wiki!!

SNA

  • She has the best arm movements I have seen so far.

  • It's a beautiful performance, and she is a wonderful dancer; she looks light as air. But I don't quite believe that she is, in fact, Odette dying.

  • @Lovisa116 good, cauz she is not odette. she's just a swan

  • In her first life she was a swan!

  • she looks like shes floating on a cloud, so smooth and beautiful. does anyone know what the song is?

  • @DancerChic183 The Swan from the carnivale of animals by claire saint saen I believe. Written in the 1800's-early 1900's. The Swan is a short ballet in & of itself, it is not part of Swan Lake. Choreographed originally for Anna Pavlova who danced this part at least 4000 times. Of course with each generation, some variation has been added, but it is always a beautiful song and ballet.

  • I didn't know that human is able to swim in the air... Until now. This is beautiful....

  • What's the name of the song?

  • @gagalove47 Swan from Carnival of the animals.

  • Heavenly performance !

  • Impresionante, una belleza, me encantan los brazos en 0:55

  • It's amazing..wow..

  • In my 15 years, this is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I will always treasure this video. BUT because I'm so young, I haven't seen very many versions of this dance, but I've looked around on YouTube and in my opinion, this version's choreography is the best by far. If someone thinks they know a better version, can you send me a link to it?

  • @InvisibleSchoolGirl As far as I know this is is the best version. She does it at age 61 found on youtube then at 70 yrs but I couldn;t find that one. The part was originally written for Anna Pavlova in the late 1800's or early 1900's I believe. But I still think Maya's is the best. Although I've been told I can't compare those 2 because of the tome in history when they each performed.

  • beautiful! brought tears to my eyes...

  • wow shes tooo good

  • Anna pavlova dying swan

  • Her arms are amazing :)

  • Absolutely beautiful! Brought a tear to my eye.

  • It is impossible to compare Anna Pavlova to Maya Plisetskaya, they belong to very different

historical periods.... One thing is certain, there was a psychologist who wrote THE ONE WHO

HAS NEVER SEEN, CAN NOT IMAGINE EITHER.....and Pavlova opened that door and that

imagination.......Bravo for Pavlova and Fokine and of course.....Bravo Plisetskaya!!!!!!

    KAKAYA PRIELES!!!!!

  • My favorite version. As so many of you have said, she looks like a real swan, real flowing wings! Many think this is part of Swan Lake. You were correct about the "Dying Swan"being a short ballet. But although the part originated with Anna Pavlova & she danced it 4000 times, I still like Maya's version better. Maybe because when Anna was beginning I believe Pointe was still realatively new, thats why there's more upper body movement. Annas face however does show alot of expression, pain, etc.

  • @karli34 You're right that the Carnival of the Animal is a musical suite and the swan is one of the musical movements. But "The Dying Swan" is the short ballet choreographed in 1905 by Mikhail Fokine to the swan musical movement and performed by Anna Pavlova. If you check out her performance, you can see that the swan is actually dying-its pretty amazing.

  • beauty in motion is all anyone can say to describe her

  • Magnifique!

  • The best variation i've seen in my life. I cried

  • I cried.

  • This is simply "The Swan" from "The Carnival of the Animals" as you stated, not the "The Dying Swan" ... noone dies here ;)

  • Very beautiful.

  • Not from this reality....I can't express in words the joy....I love You,balerina:-*

  • She is a swan!!!Nobody like her!

  • This is beautiful...exquisite...

  • that was beautiful. that's all i can say.

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the musical piece she is dancing to? I can't seem to find it anywhere under swan song or, the dying swan....

  • @Dygsdoll The piece is by Saint-Saens called "Le Cygne".

  • her arms are goddamn boneless

  • Como definir beleza e perfeição?

  • looks like mr tickle!

  • absolutely beautiful

  • @brownballerina97 it does metter how much you weight.

ballerinas are trained to be LIGHT ballerinos are the one trained to be heavy.

and one thing your right on is HOW you LOOK.

and again depending in how muscular a ballerina is, she will make better moves.

    slow, but stedy :)

  • simplemente hermosooooo!!!!

  • Oh my god. That is just the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. She is perfect. Everything about this is perfect. I just want to cry.

  • i cried

  • This is what I love about ballet, it is not about what you look like or how much you weigh it is about the passion that you give (people get confused about that a lot!!). Of course there is an incredible amount of strength in this dance and all of the ballets, but it is the passion the emotion and the love for dance that shows though and makes people want to watch you when you dance and it cannot be denied!!! #ilovedance <3<3<3

  • @brownballerina97 , I agree, but Its also about how you look like and how much you weight :/ Believe me, I know. I'm talking experience here, I was overweighted.. If it wasn't for ballet I'd still be..

  • @MrAppelsina88 Yea I see what you saying I was overweight before I started and I am still not tiny But quite frankly I don't want to be a stick this world thinks everybody should the same and and if you don't fit that description you are no good

  • she really does a good dying swan :)

  • I cried!

  • JUST AMAZING!

  • this is famous ballerina Maya Plisetskaya!

  • Her arms, feet, and pasion are incredble!!!!
