It seems like it's rare these days for guitarists to really use sweeps effectively, it usually seems like just a gimmick, like they're just going "ooh look what I can do". Paul, however, actually manages to keep emotion in his. It isn't just a technical thing to make it sound harder, but actually compliments the solo.

Chris Broderick, Marty Friedman, Jeff Loomis, there are quite a few others. But Paul is up there. Check out the top 100 list, they show more than 100, and some of it is weighted based on popularity instead of skill, but I think Paul is in his appropriate spot (He made the list, at around 125, which is amazing considering the number of musicians in the world and other genres, and popularity the band gets weighted, which is 0 compared to some of them who didn't really earn their positions imo)
