Its not worth arguing with the guy. Obviously any officer that runs 3k plus calls a year with FDNY that has the time to watch dryer fire videos in bumpkin towns in other states has to be right. We were there, the job was done well, and thats all that matters!

Okay, to put an end to the back and forth of bashing. Truck left with 1, Engine left with 4, second engine left with 4, third engine left with 2. Plus 5 personel on the scene. All apparatus coming from 4 seperate buildings. Until a central Fire station is built, we can't garuntee a full crew on each piece. And finally, I asked for the truck first, knowing the engines were staffed. I hope this helps.

As for the placement of the Ladder Truck, That was no Accident..Our departments operating procedures state that the Ladder is ALWAYS the first piece of apparatus in front of the dwelling or structure, PROVIDED there is a crew for the Engine, which in this case there was .. We're not some Podunk little town.. We have out Sh*t together and have alot of credentials and are actually recognized by the City of Allentown as a Mutual Aid Truck Company..
Once again you hicks aren't listening to what I said, so here it is. LADDER GETS THE FRONT, I KNOW, I'M NOT AN IDIOT. If you could read you would know that. HOWEVER... a truck should not be the first piece out. Got it bumpkin?

And, the Truck Captain had a heavy smoke condition and coulnd't see where the fire was..he tried gaining access from the rear but found the kitchen was more cluttered than Hiroshima after the first bomb and had no choice but to vent from the outside, and when the smoke cleared he had active fire rolling out of the closet.. Hearing this the Engine Co. not knowing the full extent of the fire, pull what they thought was necessary which was a smooth bore..
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well lets see here..The Truck Co. had the fire out when the Engine arrived and due to the "Wonderful" housekeeping and the fact that you could barely walk in this house the windows couldnt be reached from the inside so therefore had to be broken..And to clarify one thing, I stated that the fire was out when "I" arrived on "MY" Engine..I did not say the fire was out when the Truck and first Due Engine arrived.
And as for my experience, after i left allentown I ran my probationary time at 10 house FDNY, then moved on to Engine 298, switched to truckie for Lieutenant of Ladder 134, and now im captain on ladder 124, running in excess of 3,500 calls a year. as for smooth bore, its ok, but overkill for that thing... and for most of the little fires you have.
So first of all who's questioning where the truck goes. I'm just saying that newsworking is crediting something that was done by accident. Secondly, windows open very easily, especially when there's no fire. By your own admittance the fire was out upon arrival and discretion should have been used. How about next time you have burned food you take out the windows in the kitchen.
Oh!!..I almost forgot...Fireman7003..If you'd ever been in a fire, you would know that its hard to see..If you Break Some windows, and dont use a fan like some unnamed departments to the north, you will find that the smoke clears up and you can see what youre dealing with a little better and assess whether you can use a can or use the Incredible Knockdown Power of my good old friend the SMOOTHBORE..
I accidently removed comment about my quick response. I am glad you use the videos for training. I hope the DVD helped out at the critique of the Race Street fire! It's the least I could do, hope you learn from the videos.
@drcrawfs ok smart in a fire our sop is with heavy smoke break windows away fro fire and put fans in door way to make forced presure and fore the smoke out
The Truck Co. performs VES..Vent Enter Search..While this is happening, the Engine Co. establishes a water supply and then enters the building and puts the fire out.. And not to be a dick but Nayr1010, You probably could use some help on identifying your fire apparatus..I can help... And Fireman7003..please enlighten me on your experience and the type of department you run with(area, call volume, etc.)
I am very displeased with the nonsense that i am hearing from you uneducated clowns..go back to youre hill billy fire stations and review youre 1950 fire tactics books.. i also wont hide behind a screen name. My name Is Ryan and i run on Engine Co. 212 In catty.. The fire was out upon our arrival but everything was text book.. The Truck Co. BELONGS IN THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING!!!!! Deputy, Sancho, and BWill all know this AND THEY ARE RIGHT..
Pretty sure the Blue Helmet is Safety Officer, It was when i was there. I think they have a green helmet now for Accountability person. Red=Captains, Black=Firefighters, Yellow=JrFFers, White=Chief Officers. The color coding of helmets is a good idea and works for them. Need someone from catty to verify.
yes, they do to some extent. If the helmets aren't a different color then the Front Pieces are different. It would be nice for the County to have a set sceme.
You can always extend the hose, you can never extend the ladder. Ladder should always be at or as close to the front as possible. Catty + N. Catty did a great job!
I'm sorry news, but I have to disagree with many of your statements. First an engine should be first on dwellings and structures... a big ladder does no good without water. Second if the ladder parked out front the engines didn't have to make a decision. Also, not to start the whole smooth bore vs. fog debate, but smooth bore is overkill for this thing. Finally, why break the windows if there is only a light smoke condition and the fire has been knocked down? Save the homeowner some money
see i disagree here because ladders carry water and hose so u can have the ladder set up and be flowing out of a crosslay and then its there near the structure so you can use it
On building fires aerials NEED to have priority over engines. It doesnt matter if an aerial device carries hose or not, they need to park so the device is useful. This all comes down to Training and communications. CFD has been very good at truck placement. In there case the Aerial is 1st in so they can choose their spot without an Engine messing it up. Engines can park anywhere. I can prove it. Where does an Engine park on a reverse lay? NO WHERE NEAR THE FIRE!
Well fireman7003 i am 207 the truck captain of 231. as you see in the video you saw that the truck was not in the way! i parked the truck close to the side walk so 211 can follow around to supply with an attack line. do you see any problem with that!!!!!!!!!! the job went ok no one hurt cant ask for nothing eles. And i am also the person that took out the windows. taking out windows is a great way of personel safty. do you not agree....
Does Catasauqua only have one Engine? I never see 212, if there is a 212.

Quints carry water and hose, 231 does not, thats why they had the can.

in this case then yes then the engine should go first i agree and hopefully the engine should leave enough room for a truck to get in close
