How did I miss Frank Ellenburg??? One of the most exceptional techniques in the game! Thanks a million for posting this obscure piece of history. You've sparked enough interest with this video to make me pursue more knowledge about this extraordinary talent, Frank Ellenburg. Btw, no this isn't Frank.
is it just me or does ellenburg have a weight hole on the wrong side of the ball? I know they had different rules back then but I don't think I've ever seen that before.
@xxIceWaLLxx He probably wanted a more even arc and less back end. Having it here hooks a little earlier thru the oil and snaps less in the back....almost like thumb weight.....or the ball may have had an odd weight block.
When i was younger i went to a bowling camp called PBC (i think) 3 years in a row. Frank Ellenburgh was one of the teachers and he also lived in the same city as i do.
He is a really great guy and was always happy to help. Heck he even gave me a Ebonite Nitro for free.
I agree also- thanx Mr. Bowling for the great classic footage. Brings back good memories of Saturday afternoons watching the PBA and listening to Bo and Chris call the action. Earl Anthony was simply money in the bank- so cool under pressure!

Frank doesn't look 6'5, he looks more like 6'11!

I loved Earl even as a little kid in the 70's. I knew he was hardcore!

Geez Earl's ball is such a plow. Amazing considering the equipment he had to work with.

he was the most accurate and consistent bowler of his time and i think that he is argueably the most accurate and consistent to date.
i wonder how powerful he would be now people would be frightened of taking him on
