@Valkyri69 Dig. The macaroni and oat meal, my grain! H is for headache. Now for Puff the Magic Dragon. BTW, Ms. King used a bit of Sandoz in her day, yes? P is for pusher. ( :
Then you probably didn't know anything to begin with. I guess my reason for asking is that I just realized a lot of negative things in this song. How can you not explain something?
@SeboHyatt everyone must find their own Truth. If I were to give you answers, unless you knew in your heart that they were true, they would not help.
All I can say is that this is a song with a message. The message is in between the lines, and it is not meant to be negative or scary. It's meant to make you think. Metaphors within metaphors.
@axderaq one interpretation could be that the entire song is a commentary on the behavior of humans - consider it a subset to the 7 deadly sins - this song is a list of the not-quite-so-deadly-sins-that-are-still-pretty-bad
and i was ok with the explanations for each letter until they got to Z... never have i ever of "zippity zound" or "zippity zounding"... this is complete BS... FAKE!
I haven't heard this in years!!!!!.....kids don't anything about this stuff anymore.....WOW!!!!....THAT WAS SO COOL 2 WATCH!!!!!!!...NEVER 2 OLD(SMILE)
I love Really Rosie. if anyone gives Carol King crap about being racist toward Indians for the "I" bit, fuck off! This was the 70s and she like many others didn't know any better. King was real cool back in the day and is still cool now. I saw her a few years ago on the Colbert Report defending bears. Like the Indians she also loves Mother Earth.
oh wow this brings back a lot of memories for me in second grade. our mascot was the gators and all of the second graders put on this performance along with a lot of other songs but every year still they put on the traditional "Alligators All Around" performance(:
Oh, gosh, I knew this whole thing backwards when I was a kid! Wow, it's crazy how it comes back to you. I haven't seen this in years, and I still remember bits and pieces.
@tkbadgirl i was just saying the same thing this song surprises me because i forgott all about it untill i heard it on my cd that my teacher gave me im 13 now it been 6 years
I got stuck listening to this at a parade for 15 minutes when the float that was playing this stopped for some reason. The only thing that kept me sane was picturing my 400 pound uncle in a pink tutu dancing like a jerk to it.
wow...used to sing this in 1st grade :O
