It was great for me, only one band I wanted to see pulled out. And yeah, we heard about the machetee. Was better than everyone has said in my opinion, but it was my first festival, so things can only get better =]
This guy has got to be the most boring, uninformed f**k that i've ever seen or heard! The incident he refered to about the machette was dealt with by security and the offender was in custordy very promptly! Please, Please get your facts right before you comment on things you know nothing about!!!!!
Dear oh dear, that has to be from a security person, they are the only people I know who hate free speech and think that no-one else has a right to an opinion.
Of course, the fact that someone got a machette into the site and past security speaks volumes doesn't it? No wonder he's like that, still on the other hand I guess I'd be defensive and feel stupid too if I'd been asleep when a punter walked in with a machette! Difficult to justify how security let that one through eh?
The bands on the smaller stages (BBC Introducing etc) were not being payed anyway. My band lost a lot of money to play there but its what you have to do to start with.
The bigger bands had every right to pull out since they were booked under contract to play for an agreed fee, so if the organisers refuse to pay you, the contract is void. Well done to the bands that played on regardless, it was great to see bands not wanting to let their fans down!!
There shouldn't be a zoo9.... it was a total shambles. If the bands aren't getting paid then WHY THE HELL should they play?!?! It costs them a hell of a lot of money, the smaller bands (really ALL of the zoo8 bands) can't afford to come if they're not getting paid.
i have to say that i had a brilliant time at zoo and id give anything to go back. For me it wasnt about the music, i had an amazin time there with my mates, was off my face the entire time and loved it. Security was really really shit tho i mean a machete?!? i was a little disapointed dizzee didnt turn up but i only really went for the saturday and i had a wicked time!!! Roll on zoo9!!!
Was a good festival tbh..i mean the people made it. The bands pulling out at the last minute was shit, but thats not there fault cause there making a living i guess...
Just hope that Zoo9 will be more fucking ORGANISED thanks.
i got this info straight from a bloke from the act beans on toast who got moved from the tap n tin stage to the vip area, but basicly mark ronson demmanded alot of money z008 didnt have it so they gave him a cheque and also emptyed the bar tills and paid him some in cash, then had no funds left over to pay other acts full amounts hence why so many dropped out, my opion is that the festival was utterly crap, apart from sending loads of people surfing during funeral for a friends set ha.
the bands pulled out because they werent going to be paid. fuck playing for no money. if youre booked and promised thousands of pounds, and the money isnt there, then you blatently wont play. that guy is a fucking idiot.
zoo8 was a good festival which would have been amamzing if the acts had turned up! it was poorly organised with no1 knowing changes to the programme, cancelled acts or changes of times.. which was probably even more annoying, knowing they had played and i had missed it!! this however didnt affect me from having a great time, met some funny people and got thoroughly messed up on drink and other things... will definitely go again 100% big up NEW ROMNEY and evry1 who had a good time
I agree, I was totally confused as to why the acts I wanted to see weren't playing...my friend couldn't even get the beer for £3.00 rather than £3.30 on the sunday while it was pissing it down and the Tap n Tin tent was closed.
i took a fuck load of mandy and wandered around with a boom box for hours playing tunes in the campsite, i missed the hives but saw some shizz

THE REASON WHY BANDS PULLED OUT CUS THEY WERE NOT PAID!!!!
i went n i love every min apart from the que's!!

To be honest. I thought the festival was extremely un-organised. The que to get in was anormous. We got there early also.
Not only this but they were always late opening. I mean, the arena on Friday was ment to open at 2, yet we didn't get in until 4.
As for dizzee/Athlete AND does it offence you yeah? dropping out, I was utterly disapointed.
BUT, I WILL be going back for ZOO9

I have to comment separately that not many people knew what was going on or why exactly bands were pulling out, so he was definitely in the majority.

That's a fair comment - I have removed "a well balanced response" to reflect this, but he did balance things thoughtfully. How did you find Zoo8?
