OMG this movie used to be my sister and my favorite movie when we were little, but I remember I was really short when I was younger and I wanted to watch the movie. So when I tried to reach for it, I dropped the VHS and it broke. I cried so hard.....thank you for posting this. I have been looking for so long to find it.
Thanks for that. I'll keep that in mind. I'd like to find the old English dubbed version more (even though normally I'm an advocate for not dubbing things) cause that's what I grew up with, and it was actually pretty funny in parts (because of the cheesy dubbing), and that's what I remember about it other than the neat animation. :P
Does anyone know how to find the original English dubbed version (without the HORRIBLE narration overtop? I had it on VHS when I was younger, but Youtube only has it with the narration.
@julieduck There is a modern English dub on DVD with modern actors and actresses, but it still has the narrator.
There were numerous old English dubs that people remember, and I've only been able to find this version on VHS. To my knowledge, none of the other version made it to VHS. Your best bet is to purchase the Russian DVD, and put on the subtitles. :) But good luck having it shipped to where you live.
@lvlagnetoTwo@dorkylovee This is a dub from around '85: amazon.com/Swans-Hans-Christian-Anderson-VHS/dp/630271172X/ref=sr_1_157?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1316051774&sr=1-157
There are four English dubs total I think, and they're all somewhere on Amazon; I've seen each one at some point. This one has songs in it, and the others don't.
@TheSnarfalarf That's the one I have on VHS! I don't have the ability to get it into a digital format, though. No idea how to do that! It's got way better dubbing though, and keeps all the musical numbers.
@julieduck omg i've been looking for that version too! I used to watch it on vhs when i was a kid.. in the movie it was english dubbed and had singing instead of the crow telling the story, i cant find that version anywhere!
@dorkylovee This is probably it, it has lots of songs in it: amazon.com/Swans-Hans-Christian-Anderson-VHS/dp/630271172X/ref=sr_1_157?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1316051774&sr=1-157
There are four English dubs total I think, and this is the only one with a bunch of songs in it.
