Yeah, feels like he's feeding his ego a little bit and there every time he goes into a daily, maybe a defensive measure for a really unstable personality. Not hating on him, just feeling uncomfortable because of this kind of talk. "what I'd consider, I advice you to .. maybe you should" are MUCH better ways to communicate.

@zag8712 they don't analyze during live casts - there's just not enough time to do so. They can comment on a strat used and say its good VS this or that but no actual analysis (Day[J]'s live casts included).

The difference here is that he examines the overall game plan and tells us how its viable due to different timings/resource management and how to use your units correctly to be able to pull it off. To do so he forces us to re-watch moments within the game to both understand and remember it

@fateola Much of Day9's analysis is irrelevant for anything but a computer that can have an effective apm of 800. He criticizes the BEST players in the world for not being able to multitask 50 things in a single second.... come on, Day9...mix your ultra-analysis with some realistic goals for (i) the average gamer, (ii) the hardcore gamer, and (iii) the pros. Currently, much of his break down is just not manageable for even the pros. Day9, go write a 9000 page text on it; I'm not entertained.

Like I said, if you don't get anything out of it, don't watch it. Nobody cares whether you watch it. Many people - me included - learn a lot from this type of in-depth critical analysis. If they didn't, he wouldn't have so many subscribers.

@zag8712 Depends on what you want - entertainment or learning. In 1v1 im in plat league (not very good I know) - and i watch a lot of live casts/replays from Husky, Day9, GOM ect.

Yes watching the casts is very entertaining but besides the broad general strat (oh he opened 4gate/hellions ect.) I don't learn much from it and thus don't really improve.

However here he tells us the intricacies of the strat and how to achieve the results as seen. Application of such knowledge is fun =)

@CakeySoupy I'm all for learning new strats and builds, but a lot of Day9's criticisms, comments, analysis is not humanly possible - we can only multitask so much - even the PROS cannot do everything at once - and besides, there is still plenty of luck in this game - even with the best scouting, you do have to get lucky and plenty of pros lose to an opposing build order. He should tone down how insane his analysis is and make it more reachable for the rest of us not in grandmasters...

@zag8712 I disagree with that. He has the cater to a wide global audience who watch the dailies for analysis (unless its monday) which probs ranges from peeps in bronze to GM.

He would not logically think that everyone will be able to perform on the pro level - but I think its good that he assumes people will want to aspire to reach that level. Also you don't need to have the micro/macro of a pro to improve from these dailies.

@CakeySoupy My main beef with his casts is that not everyone has 4 hours a day to devote to watching Day9 analyze ONE game. Make the videos SHORTER. He could easily do this by cutting the extra crap he talks and mumbles about and focuses on the game - enough with the TV personality - time is money and his casts are way too long.

Actually I think over half the people here watch it exactly for his extra craps and mumbles :D. They're what make Day[9] Day[9]. Besides the whole thing only takes an hour, and it's cut in 3 pieces of 20 anyway. Nobody forcing you to watch them in one go.

Also have you watched games that Day[9] has cast for MLG? pretty damn amazing and entertaining and passionate. Reiterating again - hes just catering to his audience in these dailies (analytic style), he is a great live caster when he wants to be.
