The Lil' Biscuits, as they are affectionately known, are bred after the tradition of Seabiscuit's owner Charles Howard, whose first class Thoroughbred breeding operation included ranch horses such as Paints and Seabiscuit's stable mate, Chulo, a Palomino. Ours is an effort to recreate the ranch's string of saddle horses, and Thoroughbreds bred for racing. Visitors are invited to take a step back in time, tour historic Ridgewood Ranch, the home of Seabiscuit during seasonal walking tours.
@LoisSzy Mother Lacy, was a palomino with Quarter horse stock but descended from Seabiscuit. The owners as well as the Seabiscuit Heritage Foundation have been restoring all of the ranch back to it's wonderful 1940's splendor. Charles Howard's favorite riding horse was a paint horse, so Lacy's owner bred her to a paint in the hopes of getting one similar to Mr. Howard's. That is why she was bred to a beautiful APHA Stallion, Champ's Reflection. I hope that clears up the question.
This is really cute but how did a a pinto come out of a Thoroughbred? I can't imagine owners of the famous Sea Biscuit line would breed to a grade horse.
Would love to see this charming animated film expanded to feature length. The voices, as well as the drawings, music, and story, are well suited to tearing out one's heart and then healing it.
Simply beautiful...love the original footage you have with it....really showcases the connection....and you can see the family resemblance in the two. Wonderful!! Would love to see pictures of the "voices" too!
Joesphine is a book that will warm the hearts of everyone who reads it. It is a wonderfully wholesome story based on the life of the great-granddaughter of the legendary racehorse Seabiscuit. I really hope that someone will turn this into a children's movie, I think it would be brilliant. It is full of hope and inspiration.
